Prayer Summary for Friday, September 30, 2016

Jerre led in worship and then shared…

As we started to worship the Lord, I saw our praises become… how would I liken it to? You know when the heat is on the top of the car and you see that “rippley” effect coming off of it? I saw our praises like that heat. Or maybe like heat on a driveway. You see this effect of the heat waves in ripples. Our praises were going up like that, right up to the throne. They looked tangible. That’s when I sang, “You are aware of our praise.” I could see it lifting up to God. Our praises are worthwhile and God is blessed by them.

Pastor Ray shared…

They’re worthwhile even if we’ve done it thousands of times before! When I started coming to Living Word, Jerre was already here. I’ve been here over 30 years. So think of all the worship and praise that’s come out of your lips, Jerre. Over the years, it’s been thousands of words of worship. So often, if you do something over and over and over, you can get in a religious rut. But it won’t become a rut if we stay in our hearts and truly worship Him. I feel like it’s so easy to worship here in this chapel when we’re together like this.

Jerre shared…

I’ve led worship so many places. Sometimes it’s like pulling the rope on a cart along. “Come on…” [grunting] Then there are other times when the people are so beautifully yielded and it makes it easy. This is an easy place and I thank you for that. There have been some places… Uff da!

Ray shared…

I want to read 2nd Corinthians 2 about half way through in the Message. About verse 12, it says, “An Open Door” in big letters. Paul said:

“When I arrived in Troas to proclaim the Message of the Messiah, I found the place wide open.” An open door. Remember when Pastor Lynne led us in prayer about open doors? Here he said, “God had opened the door.” Jesus is the way maker. And He makes a way where there is no way, or we could say where there was a closed door. But here he was saying the door was wide open to proclaim the message of the Messiah. Actually, he said the whole place was wide open. He said, “all I had to do was walk through it.” He didn’t have to kick down the door. He didn’t have to get himself all stirred up. He just walked right through the door because it was already opened.

Then he went on to say, “But when I didn’t find Titus waiting for me with news of your condition…” He had been talking to the church at Corinth. There were some problems there. Anyway, he wrote them letters and said he was going to go there but he didn’t because he thought it might create more of a problem so he just wrote them a letter. He wanted to know about the church and couldn’t find Titus to find out what was going on with them. So he came on to Macedonia looking for Titus. He gave him a reassuring word about the church.

But then he says, “In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade.” I love that. So He said He would lead us into all truth. I like the way he put that: He’s leading us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. “Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance.” I always feel like it smells good in this chapel because of His presence. He said, “Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life.” It’s a sweet scent that we give off.

I like that there are people that can recognize it because they’re on the way to salvation. They’re open. “But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.” They’re not open. They’re closed. Their eyes are shut, in a way. And they’re on the way to destruction. Then he finishes it off by saying, “This is a terrific responsibility. Is anyone competent to take it on? No—but at least we don’t take God’s Word, water it down, and then take it to the streets to sell it cheap. We stand in Christ’s presence when we speak; God looks us in the face. We get what we say straight from God and say it as honestly as we can.”

That’s how I feel about the worship, true heartfelt worship comes from God. It comes through us and it goes back up to Him. It’s not about us. It’s all about Him. But we check our hearts to make sure it’s not watered down. We don’t take our worship or praise and water it down and let it become a casual, religious thing. We’ve been there. For me, years ago, I did that. I did it in a religious way. Before we went to school, we’d say the rosary as fast as we could. We’d race through and see who could say more than the other. In a religious, absolutely meaningless way.

But heartfelt prayer of a righteous man or woman and heartfelt worship of a righteous man or woman makes a difference. We’re making a difference. Things are changing. We smell good! Let’s put it like that. Brother Folu, you smell good to the ones that are open to you. They’re attracted to what you have to say. Because you have a sweet fragrance from heaven and it’s the presence of almighty God. Thank You for that, Lord.

Prayed…

Thank You, Lord, for your presence manifested in our lives
Thank You for the rivers of life that we loose and let flow through us
Thank You for the days we’re living in
For utterance by Your Spirit… words, voices, sounds
Thank You for Your divine wisdom… for words You speak to us
Father, we know our worship is not just in song but it’s all day long
We worship You

Jerre shared…

When I saw our praises tangibly being lifted to heaven, I felt like God was well pleased with us. Then I looked out into the city and I don’t know if anybody else is worshiping Him right now. Probably somewhere but not like He deserves to be worshiped.

Prayed…

Father, revive Your people, awaken Your people
Let this land become again rooted and grounded in Your love
Let the moral compass come alive again
That moral compass, You’ve called it the scepter of righteousness
Father, we thank You for that… in our land… every man, woman, and child, we ask for the all
It is Your desire that all would be saved
Father, for the fullness of the Gospel
We ask for the spirit of revelation upon Your people and upon this land
We stand against the Devil from blinding the eyes of those that see not in Jesus’ name
Take your blinders off in Jesus’ name
Eyes and hearts and minds be opened
Let the laborers be burning bright
Move in the hearts of Your people to move and do the Word
Let their compassion be increased and their eyes look outward
Let them know that Your Word is true and Your power is resident within them
Signs and wonders, setting the captives free
Move the saints like a mighty army… stir in them a fire again…
Awakening to the things of God… you move godly men and women into places of authority
Father, move in the hearts of men… adjusting… just a little further…
Divine cooperation… seeing the light…
On a large scale, Father, beyond what we could ask or think… You are well able… Like You’ve done before… You can do it again
It’s open, it’s open… for the Church to go through… for the Church to shine bright
We thank You that You’re doing it, Father
A parade of victory… souls coming in everywhere… more and more
The supernatural will become the normal way…
