Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Good morning. Good to see you guys in the chapel. We’re glad to have you with us. My name is Ken and I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word, and it’s good to come together in the joy of the Lord today.
The power of praise and worship…
I thought I would share something I came across that I thought was interesting and maybe adds a little value, a little encouragement to you in some way.
But it comes from a new study about how worship makes you live longer. And it’s a groundbreaking study by researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, which has found that worship might actually help people live longer. Led by Professor Tyler Vander Wheel, the study followed over 74,000 women for more than 16 years and discovered that those who attended religious services at least once a week had a 33% lower risk of death. That’s good, right? Compared to those who didn’t.
One possible reason for this is the biological and psychological impact of religious experiences. Worship, prayer, and singing can trigger the release of endorphins, oxytocin, the body’s natural feelgood chemicals which help reduce stress, anxiety, and inflammation.
Studies have found that deep spiritual practices such as prayer and meditation activate the parasympathetic nervous system leading to lower heart rates, reduced cortisol levels, and improved overall health.
Isn’t that good? I like that. So take that for whatever it’s worth. I think it’s worth something for sure.
The Holy Spirit is a river flowing out of us…
I was sharing with somebody yesterday in regard to some questions he had. And I was reminded of the psalmist of old who said that God leads us beside still, calm, restful waters. And it’s those places that He restores our soul. I believe He’s also restoring us physically. Repairing us. There is a river that outflows from our inner-most being, Jesus prophesied before it was to take place, which was the coming of the Holy Spirit. And you got to know that the Holy Spirit is a river. As I say, heaven is a flow and contained within that flow, comprised in that flow is all that heaven embodies. All that heaven contains. That includes restoration for your soul, peace for your mind, healing for your body, wisdom for your decisions today.
Psalm 27:4…
Let me share with you a passage of scripture out of Psalm 27:4: “One thing that I have desired of the Lord that I will seek, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. To behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.”
Prayed…
So, Father, that’s where we set our focus today to inquire in your temple, to behold your beauty, your majesty, your goodness, your faithfulness. We choose to look away from a world of distractions unto you, Lord. In fact, your Word says to look away from all that would distract unto Jesus, the author, continuer and finisher of our faith.
The power of the prayer of agreement…
Let me just share with you really quickly, a little paragraph about the Prayer of Agreement. You probably all have some idea that from the scriptures, the power of agreement when we come together is a real thing, that it multiplies (I like to say exponentially) the power of God. And it allows us to do some heavy lifts when it comes to the plan of God in the earth. And I know I touch on this from time to time but let me just stir up in your hearts and your consciousness the reality of the truth that is drawn directly from the Word of God. That God has set things up in such a way in the earth and with His church— that’s us, His ecclesia—that He is, for whatever reason in His divine providence, chosen to work through humanity, to work through those who choose Him, those who surrender to Him. That He’s not some far off, aloof, ethereal, cosmic deity on a power trip. But rather He is close by. He’s right near. He’s the one who sticks closer to us than a brother. The Bible says, the Holy Spirit is our standby. The Bible reveals that He reveals or speaks of the help of the Holy Spirit in the realm of prayer more than anything else in regard to His help that He brings.
We’re part of the final “great push…”
And the truth of the matter is God wants to remind us that we are a part of a final “great push.” We are postmodern day, Annas and Simeons, journeying to the temple daily, patiently watching and praying. Aren’t those the instructions of Jesus? “Watch and pray.” Sometimes you watch. Sometimes you pray. Like Anna and Simeon, we are part of a final push. The wrapping up, a consummation of all things as 1st Peter 4:7 says, “Therefore be alert and active and discerning and disciplined that you might practice prayer…” that you might participate in the plan of God to pray. Because what I was trying to say is that God has chosen to work in concert with us to get done what must be done. We are His agents of change. We are His portal through which He desires to pour through His power. Prayer assigns power. James 5:17 says, “The effectual, fervent, or white hot prayer of a righteous man or woman makes much power available.”
Quote from Hudson Taylor…
Hudson Taylor, the great British missionary to China, who gave his life for years living in substandard conditions to preach the Gospel in China a hundred years ago commonly said that “it is possible to move the hearts of men through God by prayer alone.”
Quote from Martin Luther…
Martin Luther in the Middle Ages said that more work is done by prayer than work itself. This is our business. We are at a pivotal moment in the God timetable of events. And God is saying…
Notice what I’m doing. I’m doing something new.
Notice the breaking out of revival.
Notice the companies of people coming together to worship.
Notice salvations.
Notice the new works where people are experiencing and encountering the divine.
Revival is breaking out…
Especially outside the church, frankly. And going to the seashore to be baptized. Revival is breaking out on college campuses and younger generations discovering Him in new ways. So notice and discern the time and the season. Celebrate and be glad for what He’s done. Maybe in our government some good changes are happening. But our trust is in Him.
The Holy Spirit is “egging” us on…
But with that, understand that’s our “cue.” We should understand the Holy Spirit’s egging us on right now to say, “Don’t stop! Don’t rest on your laurels.” In your personal life and for us as a nation and for the body of Christ at large. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He’s gentle. And He will egg you on and say, “Come on. Step in there.” He’s coaching us. He’s coaching some of us today to not “wave the white flag and surrender.” But to double down in prayer… to double down on the promise of the Word. He’s working with you. He’s working in you. And He’s going to have His way.
Anonymous quote about collective prayer…
Somebody wrote this about collective prayer. I like the articulation of it. It’s kind of different and it makes you think a little differently maybe about the prayer of agreement. But it says, “When multiple people pray for the same thing, their prayer energies will intertwine and amplify each other, creating powerful resonance patterns that can literally move mountains.” We’re moving mountains every day we come here to pray! Collective prayer generates power and opens channels for divine intervention in ways individual prayers sometimes cannot.
Prayed…
So, Father, we pray that you would intertwine our prayers today. We yield ourselves to you. We hear the call of the Spirit to march on. We hear the call of the Spirit, Lord. That the month of March is to be a time to march in victory and to march once again a seventh time around the walls.
Because victory is at hand!
Breakthrough is at the door. Hallelujah.
Awakening is beginning to percolate.
Revival is beginning to flow.
Answers are beginning to show up in your life.
So it’s time to march on… It’s time to stand our ground… It’s time to stay with Him in prayer.
Hallelujah. Glory to God. Thank you, Jesus. We worship you today.
Exhortation…
Surrender any cares or anxious thoughts you might have or loops you’re playing in your mind of worst-case scenarios. Submit them to the blood of Jesus. Lay them at the feet of the cross.
Somebody needs to cast some cares over onto Him today. Somebody needs to loose and let go of some things you have taken hold of and said, “I got this. I’m going to take care of this on my own.” No, no, no. That’s not the plan. The plan was that you were to bend your life to His, to yolk yourself with Him and learn from Him and do what you do in prayer and in every other arena of life with the Lord.
He’s calling. We hear you calling, Lord—It’s time for you to come out now… out of that rut… out of that low place and low functioning in the earth realm, in your carnal realm.
It’s time to come up and come out. I call you out today of low-level thinking, out of past processing, out of disappointments and abandonment for someone. Come out of trauma…
Word of encouragement…
Somebody, you’ve been through divorce. It’s time to come out of feeling sorry for yourself. It’s time to come out incessantly processing what did not work out. And now it’s time to step out and say, “Lord, I’m ready to go on. I don’t want to stay where I’m at. I want to move with God. I want to be a part of this final push. I want to be part of wrapping up of the age, and I want to be a part of glorifying Jesus to my generation through prayer and through my obedience to Him.”
Don’t resist Him this morning. Invite Him and give Him permission to come into your house, into your heart, into your soul and do what must be done. Change must happen now for the church to move forward. Change in your house, your household, in His house called the church.
And so we call for that today, Lord, have your way. Move in, flood every heart, flood every church, flood every life. Bring change where change needs to happen.
A redrawing of boundaries…
I just sense and we pray, Lord, redraw the boundaries. Redraw boundaries, move out the limitations. Move out what we’ve considered, what we could do or what the church could do, and pull up 10 stakes. We pray we lose angels to be a part of that. To go now today. And to redraw those boundaries out in an expansive way. That as Paul the Apostle prayed, we pray, Lord, prepare a bigger enlarged space in our lives and in our callings today of what’s possible. I pray for changes in perspective now to wash over us, wash over our churches and homes and families today and this weekend, Lord, a new perspective that helps us to think, “Oh my gosh, what have I been thinking all along? Why have I been thinking so long? Why have I been carrying myself with my head down?” I must lift up my eyes and see that my salvation drawing nigh. I must realize that I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. So we pray today collectively in the body of Christ, in your church, in your ministry, in your business, in your entrepreneurial efforts.
