Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Good morning! If you don’t already know, my name is Ken Olson, and I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
The power of collective prayer…
Aren’t you glad that there’s no time nor distance in the spirit? We can unite and come together collectively? Don’t discount the power of collective prayer. It’s truly an amazing thing and I believe God’s going to do some outstanding things during our time in our lives and in His plan over overall.
A reminder to lean into Him…
I just want to say that this is a really good time for us to remind ourselves that the Lord is the one in whom we find refuge, in whom we find stability. I think sometimes when things start shifting and change starts happening, it can kind of get our attention and cause our hearts to beat a little faster and anxiousness to rise up in us. But that’s a good prompt, a reminder that we should sink ourselves into the Lord, that we should lean into Him.
He holds us in the palm of His hand…
The Bible says He’s the one who holds us in the palm of His hand. He’s the one who begun a good work in you and in me, and He’s able to continue that good work and accomplish and fulfill that good work even to the end of your days or His soon return.
We’re dependent upon Him…
So as we worship this morning, I just want to encourage you to just lean into Him this morning. Be aware of Him and His presence. Confess and acknowledge your dependence on Him. We’re dependent on Him. That’s not just because it’s the end of days, but because…
He’s our creator
He’s our Father
He’s good
He’s faithful
He’s not going to let you slip.
Our job is to set our sights on Him…
The Bible actually says that. He won’t let you slip or slide away. He’s got you. Trust Him. Our job is to set our sights on Him, to turn and redirect our focus onto Him even every day, even moment by moment, as I said earlier, on a daily basis. That’s our job to set our sights and our affection and our attention on Him. To look away, the Bible says, from all that would distract unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
“But you have an anointing…”
So I just encourage you to recognize that. And let me just read a passage of scripture found in 1st John 2:20; the New King James simply says, “But you have an anointing.” Aren’t you glad that I’m here to remind you this morning, you have an anointing from the holy one and you know all things. So as we set out to worship and to pray today, recognize that you’re not here to convince or manipulate God into getting anything. You are someone in Him and you possess all things that pertain unto life and godliness. You have inherited and received what you need to go forth today and succeed in His plan, to go forth today and experience victory, experience joy, experience His goodness.
We all have a “knower” on the inside of us…
In the Passion translation, that same verse reads, “But the holy one has anointed you and you know the truth.” And oftentimes that has not illuminated your conscious thinking. But in your spirit, the real you, recreated in the image of Jesus, you have a “knowing.” Your “knower” is your spirit. And you have a knowing of the holy one, an anointing as to the direction you need to go today. What you need to do right now, which is worship Him. We’re going to pray.
He does not take back that anointing…
If you jump down to 1st John 2:27 in the Passion translation, it says, “But the wonderful anointing you have received from God is so much greater than their deception and now lives in you.” That wonderful anointing. Hallelujah. Aren’t you glad God anoints you? Gives you an anointing, an unction of and by and through the Holy Spirit upon receiving the free gift of salvation? And He does not withdraw that anointing. He does not take back. He doesn’t say, “Uhhh, just kidding. I’m going to take that back.” No. He has decided to crown you with righteousness. He’s already decided through Jesus to insert Himself in you a portion of the divine anointing of God lives in you and you know all things. You have the goods to go another day to day. By faith, you have the goods. You have a supply of the Holy Spirit to rise up out of the doldrums and out of the chaos and out of what seems to be perpetually broken and to take hold of His hand and rise to a place of higher ground.
He is our higher ground…
Our relationship, His promises, our higher ground that we get to stand on today. We don’t “have to.” We “get to” stand on the higher ground of our relationship with Him, on the higher ground of His Word that is faithful and true. That is something that He promises that He watches over His Word to perform it, to bring into completion and into fullness in your life.
Sense the encouragement rising within you…
So just sense the encouragement rising in your spirit. Even as I’m talking this morning… It’s not me, it’s Him! There’s encouragement rising. Yes, there’s lot to be concerned and experience consternation about in this day and hour, maybe in your personal circumstances in life. But…
The last time I checked, God is still on the throne.
The last time I checked, His Word still rings true.
Jesus gave the enemy a once-and-for-all beatdown…
That it’s still called truth. And we can stake our claim and stake our lives in the promise of what He has to say about us—about our futures, about the enemy for that matter. And that is that Jesus gave him a once-and-for-all beatdown. He once and for all defeated him. Oh, that doesn’t stop him in this earth realm and in this present age from trying to deceive and lie and steal and kill and destroy.
But guess what?
We have the privilege to step into the fray, to step up and face this renegade holder of authority who’s already been defeated and say…
“This is the way it’s going to go today, Mr. Devil.”
“Body, this is the way we’re going to respond” when symptoms arise.
“Finances, this is the way it’s going to be” when we experience the touch of lack.
We walk hand in hand with our Heavenly Father…
We make our way with the Word of God. We walk by the Word. We walk hand in hand with our loving, gracious, patient, kind, Heavenly Father—one day at a time.
Let’s make today our masterpiece…
Let’s just start with today. We’re going to make today as the great and epic Coach John Wooden once said, “We’re going to make today our masterpiece.” Meaning we’re going to choose or redeem our time and use it wisely. And that starts with worship. That starts with prayer. That starts with deciding how it’s going to go today from our spirits, not our circumstances. We let the Word and we let the Spirit of God on the inside of us inform how it’s going to go today. And I’m here to say it’s going to go well today.
New things are springing forth in our souls…
Today everything we set our hands to will prosper and succeed. And whatever weapon formed against us will not prosper. We say while we feel maybe weak and insignificant in one way, maybe we declare we’re going to be strong today… that we’re strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. That the incorruptibleness of the Word of God is working in our situations. That new things are germinating and springing forth in our souls, in our perspective, in our homes, in our ministries, in our businesses, in our finances.
Come on now!
The Holy Spirit is an eternal optimist, and He’s not manufacturing that optimism. The Holy Spirit’s an eternal optimist because He knows what we need to be reminded of… that Jesus once and for all gave the enemy a beatdown… that He once and for all not only went into the belly of the earth, but He rose again, not only to the surface of the earth for a period of days, but then ascended back to the right hand of His Heavenly Father…
To send the promised Holy Spirit
To equip and partner with us
To remind us and inform us of this great hope that we’ve already won.
To tell us we have the victory despite the intensity of the hour, despite adversities and despite traumas, despite when things go sideways.
“This too will change and is changing…”
It can go sideways. But it’s not going to stay that way. Because if we’ll choose to go with God and see it His way, we’ll choose to partner with Him and His Word on our lips, in our worship, in our actions. Then whatever you’re experiencing that went sideways, you can say, “This too will change and is changing. It may be one way right now, but it is changing to conform and transform into the will of God.”
Even the hopeless situation, even the thing that did not work out maybe in your timetable, God is able to leverage hopeless situations and transform them into the perfect will of God in a matter of time. He makes all things beautiful according to His timetable.
So let’s stay with Him.
Let’s stand with Him.
Let’s rejoice with Him.
Let’s let our mouths and our voices bring forth worship and thanks.
Let’s let our voices and our prayers announce prophecies.
Or you could say the way it’s going to be even though it doesn’t feel like it or look like it in the moment, it’ll be…
According to His Word
According to what He has said to you
According to what He said to me
According to what He’s proclaimed over our nation, over Israel.
We don’t serve a milquetoast God…
We’re not here serving some ethereal… how can I say this respectfully… milquetoast, kind of God. He is the God of the universe. He flung the cosmos into existence and is still creating presently. And He creates at the speed of light. He’s strong. He’s on the throne. He is an all-consuming fire. He is well able to do whatever needs to be done. He just needs us to agree with Him. He just needs us to recognize that He has chosen to work with us, to partner with us, in our words, in our choice for attitude and belief, to work with us and our decision to respond in a certain way to a situation, to whatever’s happening.
He’s not done with us yet…
So hold steady. Strengthen yourself in the Lord. Through His Word, through worship, through prayer. And stay in there. He’s not done with you yet. He’s not done with America yet. Come on now. I’m prophesying. He’s not done with Israel yet. He’s not done with your children yet. He’s not done with your soul yet.
Hallelujah! Take a strong stance on His Word…
You don’t have to put up with what you put up with for the rest of your life. Raise up a standard in your heart, in such a way that says, “I’m going to have what the Word says I can have, and it’s going to be that way.” Hallelujah! Take a strong stance on His Word and on what you believe ought to be and what God’s spoken to you should be in your heart, in your finances, in your relationships, in your household, and in your life. Hallelujah.
His anointing teaches you…
So let me finish reading this passage in 1st John 2:27. It says, “But the wonderful anointing you have received from God is so much greater than their deception and now lives in you that anointing. There’s no need for anyone to keep teaching you.” He’s not saying you shouldn’t have pastors and teachers. He’s just saying you don’t necessarily need a teacher because His anointing teaches you. “Teaches you all that you need to know for it will lead you into truth, not a counterfeit…” King James says, “It’s not a lie.” He’s not a liar. He’s truth. “So just as the anointing has taught you, remain in Him.”
Prayed…
So, Father, we thank you for that anointing that is within us. We thank you that you are leading us and teaching us even as I’ve been sharing this morning. That’s what the anointing is saying to us inside, that we can stand our ground, that we can go another day, that we can actually rejoice and celebrate and give you thanks for what we may not see with our eyes, but we know is true on the inside, and will surely come to pass in your timetable, Lord.
