Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Dustin…
Good morning, everyone. My name is Dustin Sherry. I’m the Next Gen Pastor here at Living Word. Thank you for being here at Morning Prayer with us.
Addressing a bad mood state of mind…
Before we go back into worship, I just want to encourage you. If you would just close your eyes for a moment. Put your attention on the Lord. The way that I heard it or saw it in my heart was, there were people in the room who were just kind of crabby. Like you’re just kind of in a bad mood.
Or hurting…
And maybe there’s somebody here who’s hurting. We all come in from different places, different experiences, and maybe you’re watching online and have your arms crossed and you’re scowling or maybe you’re smiling. I don’t know. But I want to take a moment… I’m not going to ask you to run around the room. I’m not going to ask you to fall down laughing.
Get a new perspective…
But what I’m going to ask you to do is take a moment before the Lord and maybe reorient yourself. Get a new perspective. Take a moment with the Lord. And if you have a complaint or if you have something that’s frustrating you or you have a question about, just offer it to Him. Put it before Him. Take a moment and receive grace. Receive that supernatural supply that’s available to you. Receive, if you need to… If it’s forgiveness, if it’s peace, if it’s grace… whatever it is that you need, there is a well, there’s a fountain that won’t run dry. There is a supply that’s available to you this morning. Receive what you need from heaven. And then get a new perspective.
Elijah too had a mood…
I was reading about Elijah this morning on the run from the prophets of Baal, depressed in the cave. And his perspective was all wrong. And so he had to get a new perspective. He thought he was alone. “I’m the only one that’s serving God. I’m the only one out here.” And the Lord’s like, “No, there’s way more. And you’re going to go get your replacement.” You’re going to go, “Go get Elisha.”
But he needed a new perspective. His perspective was wrong. And as a result, it changed his disposition. It altered how he interacted with others, with the Lord. He was all out of whack because he had a wrong perspective. And so, I want to encourage you this morning. Let’s just take a moment. Whatever it is that’s maybe going on in your mind. Just place it before the Lord. Allow Him to give you a fresh perspective. Allow Him to fill you with hope and joy and peace and strength. And then let’s continue to worship and pray from a place of faith, from a place of anticipation, and from a place of just genuine love and excitement for what God is doing in our lives, in this church, and in this ministry. So let’s just do that together.
Prayed…
Let’s just begin to pray in the spirit. Come on, you’re praying out mysteries. You’re praying out God’s perfect will. You’re building yourself up. You’re edifying yourself. You’re praying out things that no eye has seen, no ear has heard. Neither has entered the heart of man, but the Spirit of God reveals and unveils those things to you. As you’re praying, images will come to your mind. And you can pray those things out in English if you feel led to.
We thank you for wisdom and revelation, Father. We thank you for insight into your will, knowledge of your will concerning all matters. So don’t be distracted.
I’m about my Father’s business…
When Jesus was 12, He said, “I’m about my Father’s business. I’ve got heavenly business. I’ve got kingdom stuff I’ve got to be about.”
Don’t be distracted…
So don’t be distracted in your mind. Don’t be distracted in your heart. Don’t be distracted in your thoughts. Don’t be distracted in your heart. Don’t let things take priority over Him. Seek first the kingdom of God. And all of these other things will be added unto you. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Seek first His kingdom, His righteous.
Don’t be double-minded about it. A double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways and receives nothing from God, the Bible says… tossed like a wave. Don’t be like that. Be resolute. Make up your mind. Set your face like flint.
Be stable, consistent, reliable…
Yes, we thank you, Father, for a great stability. Stable. Stable. Those that are led by the Spirit of God should be stable, consistent, reliable. Not tossed around, not taken with every wind of doctrine… not gathering together teachers to reinforce the errors of their ways… not having itching ears.
Stability. Stability. We speak stability over the members of Living Word. We speak that they would be strong, that they would be rooted deeply and founded securely in the love that God has for them, that they would build their house on the rock. They would build their lives on the foundation of the Word of God.
There’s a breaking out, something about to be birthed…
Yeah, just press into that. There is… Something’s happening. Something’s moving. Can you sense it? There’s a breaking out. I don’t want to say the word, but I feel like I have to. There’s like something being birthed. I’m thinking of your friend who did the prayer. Yeah. Joseph. I thought that was it, but I didn’t want to get it wrong. When he talked about birthing and he went on and on about birthing. You could tell he felt a little uncomfortable about it. But he is like, “I got to.” I just get that sense.
It’s coming out into the open…
Something new. New life. New life. New life springing forth…. new life coming forth. New life. It’s been incubating. It’s been growing. It’s been being nourished and now it’s coming forward. Now it’s coming forth. Now it’s coming out into the open. Now people are going to be able to see it with their natural eyes. They don’t just know about it. They’ll be able to see it. They’ll be able to experience it.
So, Lord, show us what we need to see. Give us eyes to see. Give us wisdom. Give us revelation. Give us insight. Give us discernment. Thank you for the grace to see it. Thank you for the grace to flow with you, for the grace to operate in what we haven’t yet.
Springing forth like spring…
Springing forth new life… Just like in the natural, it’s springtime. Oh, it might feel cold outside on some mornings. It might look… the trees might be dormant, but you know that something’s happening. You can see some of it. You can’t see it all, but you know something’s happening. And you know it’s just a matter of time until the flowers bloom, the leaves come out. I’m not an expert in these things, but you get the picture right? You know, it’s a matter of time and things are going to look different. Things are going to smell different. Things are going to feel different.
Be sensitive to the season so you can walk accurately…
So be sensitive to the seasons. So be sensitive to the season that you’re in. Be aware of the season that you’re in so that you can walk accurately. Be aware of the season that you’re in… not just you personally, but corporately. Be aware of the season that you’re in. Don’t put new wine in old wine skins. Don’t walk out in February with flip flops on. Don’t go out in July with a wool coat on. The season informs how you dress. The season informs what you plan, how you plan, what you plan. The season that you’re in informs quite a bit and you’re stepping into a new season. And so you need to lean in. You need to incline your ear. You need to hear what the Spirit of God is saying to you so that you can be adequately prepared for this season so that you can run, so that you can operate, so that you can flow.
Flow in the unforced rhythms of grace…
Don’t resist flow. Flow with Him in the unforced rhythms of grace… Do you trust His character? Do you trust that He knows what He’s doing? Do you trust that He’s smarter than you are? Do you think He’s trustworthy? Do you count Him as trustworthy? Then you can respond in faith. Then you can respond with hope. Then you can respond with joy. Then you can respond with anticipation. Because you know He’s taking you to a good place, a broad place, a land that’s flowing with milk and honey. There may be giants, but the battle is not yours. The battle belongs to the Lord. There may be fortified cities. There may be giants, but God is faithful and He is able to preserve you, to protect you, to keep you, to cause you to prosper, to cause you to walk in health… you are an overcomer. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you… greater is He on the inside of you than He that is in the world. So you’ve got to renew your mind to these things. You’ve got to get a fresh perspective. Stir yourself up in these things. Because you’re stepping into… you’re moving over… And it’s your responsibility to seek God for yourself and get the vision, and get the strategy, and get the plan and be okay with what you don’t know, and trust Him in the process, in the midst of it.
Because you’re a part of a much bigger plan. Yet His kingdom is being established in this earth. Time is moving. His plan is unfolding. So get in your place. Don’t resist the plan of God. Jump into it, embrace it, celebrate it, glory in it.
Celebrate the season…
Celebrate that you can be excited about it. You find joy in it. Find things to… find joy in this season. Don’t spend this whole time mourning over what was. Like when the Lord said to the prophet, Why do you mourn over what I’ve rejected? Why do you mourn over Saul? Why do you mourn over what I rejected? Get up. And go, because I’ve found me a man. There’s a shepherd boy, David. And, he is going to slay the giants. He’s going to be a king that honors the Lord. He’s going to begin the process of building the temple. He’s going to be a distant relative of Jesus. I know you like Saul. I know you’re familiar with Saul. I know he’s tall and good looking. And I know all that, but I’ve rejected him and I’m moving on. And I found somebody that I can work with. I found a man after my own heart. And so you’ve got to get up and keep moving forward. You’ve got keep taking steps and in obedience…
Jesus came so we could have abundance…
Yes. Step into that. And you can do it with joy… hope… faith… expectation. You can have and enjoy life, and you can have it in abundance, Jesus said. That’s why He came to the earth, so that you could have and enjoy life and have it in abundance. Jesus wants you to live an abundant life. He’s leading you into an abundant life. He’s leading you from goodness to goodness, glory to glory, faith to faith. The path of the just grows brighter and brighter.
So pay attention to what you see as we’re praying today in your imagination. Pay attention to what you see in your heart.
If you’re here and you’re saying, “I feel like God doesn’t speak to me, I don’t hear anything.” Then look at what you see in your imagination. Does it align with scripture? Because that could be a way that God speaks to you is through images.
So we thank you, Father, for wisdom. We thank you for strength. We thank you that great grace rests richly upon each of us to do what you’ve called us to do in this season. More than enough grace. More than enough favor and supernatural empowerment. More than enough grace for this season.
So take the limitations off…
Take those things that contradict what God has said about you and to you… Some limitations are good. Some keep you safe. Some keep you healthy. But if you’ve believed a lie about yourself, if you’ve put a limitation on yourself that God did not put on you, you need to get rid of that.
None of this, “I can’t” business or you know. You are who He says you are. You can do what He says you can do… by His grace and by His strength. You’re not limited to your own natural ability… natural strength… natural wisdom.
That’s why Jesus said “It’s better for you that I go. Because when I go, I’m sending the comforter, the counselor, the intercessor, the advocate, the strengthener, the standby, the ever-present help in times the trouble, the Paraclete, the one who will come alongside of you and aid you and support you. When I leave, He’s coming.” And He lives and abides on the inside of you. He is your help. He is your strength. He is your support. He didn’t leave you as an orphan. He didn’t leave you as someone who has to stumble through life and figure it out. No. You’ve got the greater one living on the inside of you. And so you can have boldness, you can have confidence because you know it’s the Spirit of God on the inside of you.
So use the gifts that He’s given you…
They’re gifts. Use the gifts that He’s given you. Use those things that God gave you. Don’t bury them. Don’t hide them. Use those things to build His kingdom. You don’t need a microphone. You don’t need a stage. Go out to the Brooklyn Park Bus Depot and go tell people about Jesus. Go worship Him where you can. Go tell people about Him where you can. Go do a Bible study. Do something. Just use those gifts that He placed on the inside of you.
Take a step…
Use the gifts that God’s placed on the inside of. That’s what I’m trying to say. And He’ll take you where you need to go. He’ll give you favor at the right times. He’ll open up doors of opportunity for you. But you got to move. You got to take a step. You’ll possess the land that your feet touch, but your feet have to touch it. Take a step, use the gifts that He’s given you. Maximize the opportunities that have been entrusted to you. Some of the opportunities might look like work or actually be work. But you need to have the discernment to see it for what it is. It’s a divine opportunity.
David knew that Goliath was a divine opportunity. Everybody else was afraid, everybody else was scared. He saw an opportunity playing the liar for Saul. He saw an opportunity.
Thank you, Father, for the discernment to see opportunities and to maximize opportunities that you’ve entrusted to us. That you’ve called us to steward well.
Sister…
I was just sensing in my heart this fear of rejection, this pride. It might just be one question that you need to ask that could change your life, that could change your path. But you just need to lay aside that pride and that fear. You need to just ask that question because it could change your life, could change your path the way you need to go. Maybe that’s just for one person in this room. But I felt like I needed to say it. But you needed to lay aside that pride.
