Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Worship leader Kathy…
Good morning, everybody. It’s good to be back here this morning. I’ve been reading portions of Psalm 34, so I’m going to read a couple verses. It’s always good to start your morning with the Word of God. So it says, “Glorify the Lord with me. Let us exalt His name together. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”
[Worship begins…]
Kathy continues…
I believe we all have something that feels and looks impossible in our lives. But to Him, the impossible is easy. He doesn’t even have to think about it. I mean, He created the whole universe just by speaking. I’m pretty sure He can handle whatever the problem is that looks impossible to us. So I want us to sing that part again and just sing it over whatever that thing is that comes to your mind, that’s in your heart and looks and feel impossible. Maybe it’s a disease, maybe it’s a prodigal, maybe it’s a financial thing.
[worship cont.]
Pastor Heather…
As we pray and sing in the spirit, you’re moving out of that natural realm into the supernatural realm. It engages your spirit. It engages your heart…
[worship cont.]
You are high and lifted up…. Holy, holy, holy.
And now we come close, Lord. We come close under the shadow of your wing because we know that is where we are safe. That is where we are held. That is where we are healed. That is where we are filled. That is where we have purpose.
And though a storm may rage, we are safe under your wings.
Picture yourself under His wings. You are safe, you are held, you are provided for.
So whatever trial, whatever issue you’re going through, whatever trouble, you come under His wings, you come close. Come close.
Oh, the storm is raging, but we are safe. And we have nothing to fear, nothing to fear for our Father is here. He never leaves us. He never forsakes us. He holds us close under His wing.
You provide for every need, Father. You know the future. You’ve gone out ahead of us and you will provide everything we need to walk in your ways and to fill the purpose that you’ve put within us is.
And so now we come close, Father. We say hold us this morning, Father. We are here to come close to your throne, to your presence.
We say we’re sorry if we’ve run out to do things on our own, if we’ve been busy, distracted.
But we say now, Father, our hearts are set on you. We’ve set this time aside to be fully engaged and present with you, Father.
The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords… that we can come into your presence boldly through the blood of Jesus, your Son, to be in the presence of royalty, our Father, the king.
Pastor Heather gives exhortation…
Just see yourself coming before His throne boldly and He looks upon you with eyes of love, eyes of a Father that loves His child, a Father that knows everything about you and He loves you.
And you don’t need to be ashamed and you don’t need to hide, but you can come boldly because the blood of Jesus has cleansed you from all unrighteousness.
And when He sees you, He sees you as His righteous child.
Prayer…
So we thank you, Father, thank you that you see us without sin, without spot, without wrinkle… beautiful, righteous, holy.
Help us to see ourselves the way you see us, Father, as your children.
And so now we come to your throne. We lay down every distraction, every worry, every trouble. And we put our hearts on you now, Father.
If you’re for us, who could be against us?
Worship leader Kathy…
What I keep hearing is that we need to remember whose we are. Our Father is the King of Kings. He owns the universe. When we stop to think how big He is and how amazing He is, and at the same time, because of the blood of Jesus, we can walk right up to Him and talk to Him in a way that even Moses couldn’t. It changes our perspective when we remember who we belong to, who our Father is, and He chose us and He loves us.
[worship cont.]
Kathy continues…
God’s been talking to me about worry a lot lately and how worry is really us forgetting who our daddy is and worshiping something that doesn’t need to be worshiped. And so something that’s helping me stop worrying is to remember that, first of all, He is my Father and He deserves my worship, not whatever the problem is, not whatever the circumstance or the storm or whatever’s going on, He and He alone.
Prayer of surrender…
So, Father, we choose to trust you this morning. And we surrender whatever that problem is… finances, prodigals, disease, politics, crazy world we live in. You are bigger than it all. And we walk right up to you and we hand it over.
Exhortation…
So just picture yourself handing that over. Whatever that is, just hand it over. He wants it anyway. He can do a whole better job with it than we can.
Father, you alone are worthy of our worship. You and you alone.
[worship cont.]
Pastor Heather…
Yes, you are worthy, worthy, worthy of it all. And our incense is that worship and that prayer day and night looked at worship and prayer arise. It’s a sweet-smelling sacrifice to Him. Let our praise be a sweet-smelling aroma.
Praise stills the enemy…
Praise stills the enemy. So as we praise and worship, the enemy is stopped in his tracks because we put Him back on the throne of our hearts, of our lives, of our minds, of our priorities. We put God back on that throne. When we exalt Him, when we worship Him and we lift Him high, when we say, “You are bigger than anything in my life, bigger than any circumstance, bigger than any disease, bigger than any lack, bigger than any issue, bigger than any trouble that I’m having. You are bigger.”
And when we worry, that is like a warped form of worship and meditation. And so what better way to step out of worry than to worship and adore Him and put our minds back on the thing it’s supposed to be on—Jesus, our Lord! Who has conquered sin and death… who has conquered every trial, every tribulation.
If God is for us, who could be against us? Nothing is impossible with Him. We’re the head and not the tail. We’re above and not beneath. We’re seated with Him in high places. And so we remind our souls today, God is in control and I am not. But He is holding me. He is taking care of me. He has never left me or forsaken me, and He will not start today.
So we thank you, Father, for your faithfulness through the ages, your faithfulness to your children. We are never left in the cold. We are never left starving or begging for bread, but you provide for every need. Everything we ever have need of, you have already provided it. And so today we remind ourselves of those promises and that is where we choose to meditate, think on things that are pure, that are lovely, that are a good report. These are the things that we put our mind on, that we set our eyes on, Father.
He is our sure foundation…
And though it might seem that the world is shaking, you are on your throne and you are steadfast and sure. And you are a firm foundation. And so I saw when we were singing that song “firm foundation,” when they pour a foundation of concrete, at first it is slushy. It’s gooey. So I want to see yourself just that foundation is being poured around you, poured around your feet. But you have to be still in His presence. You have to let Him set it. Stop getting out and running and going places. Just let Him set that foundation and make it sure for you that you know that He is your foundation.
Prayer…
So we thank you, Father, you are our foundation. We will not build our house on sand. We will not chase after things and run, but we choose to be still and know that you are God, that you have us, you’re holding us. You will never let us go, and you’ve provided everything we need for life in abundance… more than we can ask or think… beyond our wildest imaginations.
You are a good God. So we allow you to set that foundation now around us, Father, and we say, “This is our foundation, the Rock of our salvation.” And we thank you and we praise you. And any time we are tempted to step out of that cement and worry and run or build our house on the sand, you bring us back. And you remind us that you are the Rock of our salvation. You are our sure foundation. We thank you for that today.
Father, thank you for this time. Thank you for your goodness. Thank you for the honor of spending time in your presence and worshiping you today. Worship is prayer… communing with you. And we thank you for that. And we know our prayers are worship and was heard. And already you’re sending ministering spirits out to do your bidding, to do the things you’ve called them to do, to make ways where there seem to be no ways. We just trust in that today, Father. And we stay secure in our foundation with you. We give you all the honor, all the glory, all the praise. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Be blessed. Have good day.
