Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Worship leader…
Good morning, everybody. Welcome to morning prayer. It’s always good to be in the presence of the Lord.
So God brought me to Psalm 16 this morning. There are a few verses I want to read, and then I’m going to read a prayer from a book called “Prayers on Fire” by Brian Simmons.
Psalm 16 says this…
“I will bless the Lord who guides me even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken for He is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad and I rejoice. My body rests in safety for you’ll not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. What great love is this, which so profoundly surrounds me and leaves me utterly undone. It is you, Lord, my portion, my prize, and my delight, the one I have chosen over all others. Every moment of my life, you are here. I’m totally and completely secure in your unfathomable love. You continually reveal the overwhelming privilege of following you a beautiful path of resurrection life on which I am honored to travel. I trust in you with full abandon. My destiny is safe in your hands. You counsel and correct me with such wisdom. I’m left with no rebuttal, only a deep sense of awe and humility, which compels me to praise you with lifted hands and surrendered heart. In the night, you whisper words that fall upon my heart like costly jewels. So precious is your love for me, even while I sleep and my body rests securely in your presence, my heart and soul explode with praise. You are my eternal and exquisite joy.”
Prayed…
Father, we are grateful for your presence already here this morning that you never leave, that you’re always with us. But not that you’re just always with us, but we can look on your face. We can sit in your presence. We can talk to you, that the God of the universe wants to be talked to and conversed with and sat with.
We bless your name, Father.
Picture of God the Father holding His children in His arms…
While we were sitting in His presence, I saw how a mother would hold a child and just hum or sing a lullaby over him. I see Him holding people now and He’s holding you close to His heart. He’s singing songs over you. Let Him hold you.
God’s not surprised…
I just keep getting at that He’s not surprised by whatever is going on. It might have surprised us, but it never surprises Him and He already has a plan. He’s actually already walked all the way through it, and He sees how it’s all going to turn out. That’s why the safest place is just right next to Him. Because He’s already walked it.
See God as your tour guide…
So you’re walking with the One who already knows the path. It’s like when you take a tour, right? You’ve never been there. But the tour guide has been, a whole bunch of times. The tour guide has walked it all before. That’s what He does. He’s walked it all before. So we can trust where He’s taking us. Even when we don’t see how it’s possible. It could even turn out good.
And yes, He sees. And yes, He’s not surprised. He can also handle your questions. He can handle you asking why or maybe “Why didn’t you stop it?” He can handle all of that. He can hold the weight of the world. He can handle your questions. Just know that He’s not surprised and He’s holding you in whatever’s going on. Just let Him whisper to your heart. Let Him hold you.
It’s okay to cry…
Something God had to teach me when I’ve walked through some really hard things is that it’s okay to cry. I think sometimes as Word of Faith people… I know I feel this way, that somehow tears mean I don’t have faith. You know because I’m feeling the weight, I’m feeling the grief, right? But then I remember Jesus cried and He knew what was going to happen. He was going to raise His friend from the dead and He still cried.
God actually created our bodies to release certain things when we cry. Your tears actually release different chemicals that actually need to get out of your body. So it’s actually God’s creative wisdom to give us tears to actually just let it all out.
He collects our tears…
And it says in Psalms that He collects your tears in a bottle. Because He treasures each one of them. And He’s the safest place to run and cry and ask your questions because He’s such a good Father.
Pastor Heather…
I just love that promise too. That’s one of my favorites, that He collects our tears in a bottle. Just think of how precious that is. Some of us might have a few shelves of bottles. But He has them and He bottles them because every time our heart is breaking, every time we cry due to whatever happens around us—grief, loss, heartbreak, disappointment—He bottles those tears because they’re precious. And because He wants us to know that He sees, He’s with us. We’re not alone in those moments.
Maybe when we get to heaven, we’ll be able to see those bottles. And He’ll hold us and say, “I was there for every single one of those tears. I was holding you when every single one of these tears fell from your eyes. I saw them, I caught them. I put them in this bottle because you’re precious to Me. Your heart is precious to Me.”
So if you’re here or you’re watching online and your heart feels broken, your heart feels heavy, He’s here to heal that today to put His anointing oil and healing balm on your heart. And know like it says in the Word that He is guarding your heart. He puts a garrison like a wall around it to keep it safe.
He’s got you!
He’s the keeper of your heart.
He’ll keep you safe.
Just trust Him.
Trust Him with your heart.
He’s holding you.
He’s never dropped you.
He never will.
He’s walking out ahead of you.
He’s smoothing the way now.
He’s making crooked places straight.
So let Him speak over your heart now. Speak over your mind the words that you need to hear today, because He knows.
Even now, Father, you’re just wrapping them up in your arms.
That every hurting person(s) knows that they are loved, so loved, so held.
It says that you’re very near to the brokenhearted and for those whose hearts are shattered before you.
So we receive that now. He has beauty for ashes, beauty for ashes. He will turn your mourning into joy.
Isaiah 35…
I am going to read Isaiah 35 from the Passion translation. And there was a footnote that I want to read first. It says…
“This chapter is recognized as a Hebrew poem of rare and superb beauty. One of the most glorious chapters in the Bible, it’s a picture of the last days church rising up out of the wilderness to shine in all the radiance of His glory. It is a picture of Eden restored. The kingdom realm of God brings hope to the weak and struggling. The sacred way is the way of life in Christ as we live in heaven’s power and virtue. It’s a picture of the last days church.”
That’s us. We are in the last days.
It says “The wilderness and dry land will be joyously glad. The desert will blossom like a rose and rejoice. Every dry and barren place will burst forth with abundant blossoms, dancing and spinning with delight. Lebanon’s lush splendor covers it, the magnificent beauty of Caramel and Sharon. My people will see the awesome glory of Yahweh, the beautiful grandeur of our God. Strengthen those who are discouraged. Energize those who feel defeated. Say to the anxious and fearful, Be strong and never afraid. Look, here comes your God. He’s breaking through to give you victory. He comes to avenge your enemies with divine retribution. He comes to save you. Then blind eyes will be open and deaf ears will hear. The lame will leap, like playful deer.
“And the tongue tied will sing songs of triumph. Gushing water will spring up in the wilderness and streams will flow through the desert. The burning sand will become a refreshing oasis and the parched ground, bubbling springs and the dragons lair a meadow with grass, reeds, and peppers.
“There will be a highway of holiness called the sacred way. The impure will not be permitted on this road, but it will be accessible to God’s people. Not even fools will lose their way. The lion will be not be found there. No wild beast will travel on it. They will not be found there. But the redeemed will find a pathway on it.
“Yahweh’s ransom ones will return with glee to Zion. They will enter with a song of rejoicing and be crowned with everlasting joy. Ecstatic joy will overwhelm them. Weariness and grief will disappear.”
Declaration…
We declare that over the church today: weariness and grief will disappear. You’re creating streams in the desert.
Picture it in your mind…
Just picture that—streams in the desert. The desert becoming a lush oasis. Is there some deserts in your life today that need some streams? So we speak that today. Streams in the desert. Refreshing in the wilderness.
So if you’re in a wilderness, you’re in a desert season, just know there are streams of His presence, streams of His provision. So we declare that now. Oh, streams in the desert, paths through the wilderness, blind eyes are seeing, deaf ears are hearing.
And I see that not even just in the natural, in the spiritual. Open our eyes to see what you’re doing, Father. Open our ears to hear what you’re saying in this time… To see the beautiful work that you’re doing.
Sure, there’s things happening. Sure, there’s deserts. Sure there’s wilderness. Sure there’s all these things happening. But the lame will walk. The blind will see. The deaf will hear. The streams will come into those desert places. Streams of your presence, streams of your glory in the dry places.
So now we speak that forth streams of your presence in dry places, streams of your presence in dry places. We’re not alone in the wilderness. You’re making a path.
