Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Well, hello, everyone. Once again, it’s time to pray. It’s always time to pray, isn’t it? It is Friday, the 1st of May. We are cruising through 2026. Good to see you, as always. Thank you so much for being here.
Announcements…
Just a couple of brief announcements before we dig in. Number one, Pastor Mac will be ministering at all our weekend services this weekend: Saturday night and both Sunday mornings.
And then, secondly, we’re going to make a little tweak to our morning prayer time. Starting next Monday, we’re still going to start at 8:30, but we’ll be ending at 9:15. So we’re going to tighten it up a little bit to 45 minutes starting next Monday. And then ongoing from there. It’s a minor thing, but we’ll be going 45 minutes starting next Monday but still every day of the week.
Prophetic word by a minister Todd Coconato…
This morning, I wanted to share a couple of things with you. Firstly, I screenshotted this the other day. It comes from a minister. His name is Todd Coconato in Ohio. But when I read this, I thought we’ve been praying this way for a while, praying about preparation, praying about seeing this time and season as a time where God’s extending His mercy and grace for us to get ready, for us to find our place in Him and to be at our post in prayer and in God’s calling. And so he prophetically gave these words. And again, they just resonate with me because I know we’ve prayed most of this out over and over again over the last year or more.
But the prophetic word goes like this…
“A fire is coming not to destroy you but to refine you, to prepare you for what is coming”
“There is a spirit of deception sweeping across this generation. Subtle at first, but now bold and unrestrained. Men call evil good and good evil. And many who once stood firm are now compromising to fit the spirit of the age. We are watching a great shaking unfold.”
Is that something we’ve been praying about? I think so.
“Not just in the world, but in the house of God. The distractions are louder. The temptations are more aggressive. The line between truth and error is blurred in ways that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. This is not a time to be casual in your walk with God. This is not a time to coast on yesterday’s fire. The hour demands a people who are awake, discerning and wholly surrendered. Because only what is rooted in Christ will stand in the days ahead.
“But hear this clearly: God has not abandoned His people. Even now in the midst of darkness, there is a remnant rising with clean hands and a pure heart. There is a fresh stirring of the Holy Spirit calling His people, God’s people, back to prayer.”
Can I get an amen?
“…back to prayer, back to holiness, back to the secret place. The same God who warned of shaking also promised that He would be a refuge for those who trust in Him. If you will draw near, He will draw near to you. If you will stand, He will strengthen you. This is not the end of the story.”
Somebody needs to say “yes and amen” to that!
“This is not the end of the story. No. We stand. We’re in a war of attrition…”
Meaning the enemy seeks to wear us down and run us out and get us to wave the white flag in surrender and giving up to him. But we will not, right? As a church, as individuals, we will persevere. Because greater is He that is in us than anything that seeks to wear us down in this world, we will stand. And we’ll stand, and we’ll continue to stand. And after we’ve done all that we know to do to stand, we’ll stand some more until we are perfect and entire, wanting nothing in our lives and in the plan of God. Because we realize it fully.
It goes on to say this…
“This is not the end of the story. It is the moment where God separates, refines, and prepares His people for a greater outpouring than we have ever seen before. Hold fast! Stay faithful. The fire you feel is not to destroy you. It is to purify you and prepare you for what is coming.”
I like that.
Now, let me just remind you of a couple of passages of scripture that are probably familiar to you. This is from the Amplified Classic, John 16:13. “But when he, the Spirit of truth, the truth-giving Spirit comes, He will guide you into all the truth.” You could also insert there because of what we know in the original language, He will guide you into God’s reality. In other words, His plan and reality for your life, for your now, for your finances, for your family, for your ministry, for what He has for you, He will guide you into that. The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit.
It goes on to say…
“The truth-giving Spirit comes. He will guide you into all the truth, the whole, full truth, for He will not speak on His own message, on His own authority, but He will tell whatever He hears from the Father. He will give the message that has been given to Him, and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come, that will happen in the future.”
Practice the ancient habit of silence and solitude…
So I would add to that, pay attention to what you’re picking up on the inside. Take time. Practice the ancient habit of silence and solitude and just simply noticing what’s going on inside of you, in your spirit man. One of the great purposes for prayer in other tongues is that it makes you sensitive and more aware of your spirit, the real you, the part of you that is in contact and in full relationship with God the Holy Spirit.
Prayer makes you sensitive to what your spirit is picking up on from the Holy Spirit. It could be a matter of life and death today or down the road that you pick up on what the Spirit of God is saying, what He’s imparting. Most of the time, it’s not an audible voice that you hear. According to scripture, the Holy Spirit comes with a still small voice, an impression, an idea, a thought.
“Hmm, maybe I should pick up the phone, call so and so today.”
I found the Holy Spirit is very normal and real and practical. Don’t look for fireworks. When you experience spiritual fireworks, praise God for that. But most often, it’s just the stillness of His movement and His kind coaching on the inside of us, prompting us to make a change maybe in our diet, to go see the doctor, to lift up so and so because their life is hanging in the balance whether you realize it or not.
The Holy Spirit knows what is coming…
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of the future. He knows what’s coming. He knows what’s going on, not just in our realm, but in every realm, every life, every situation. And He seeks to coach and guide and mentor…
So that we can be effective in prayer.
So that we don’t miss anything.
So that we’re prepared for the future.
Every season of prayer needs to look like what the Spirit is leading you into in that season. Know and recognize what God is emphasizing in you.
What is He emphasizing in you today? What is He saying to you?
Following the Spirit today will keep you prepared for what’s ahead…
You must walk in today’s revelation and today’s word for you. If you will follow the Holy Spirit today, you will always be prepared for tomorrow. It’s prayer in the spirit that helps you navigate transition and change appropriately. The Holy Spirit, once again, will keep you prepared for what’s ahead. He knows what’s in the mind of God. If we’re sensitive to Him, we’ll always be ahead of things. He wants to keep you out in front of things. It’s important, therefore, that you follow the Holy Spirit.
Quote from Nancy Dufresne’s book, “A Supernatural Prayer Life”
Now let me read a couple more things to you, going back to Nancy Dufresne’s book, “A Supernatural Prayer Life.” I think I actually screenshotted this from the YouVersion Bible. She quotes 1 Corinthians 14:4 from the Amplified, which states…
“He or she who speaks in a strange,” or you could say an unknown tongue, “edifies and improves himself or herself.” And she writes in this one chapter, she highlights that where it says “edifies,” that it actually can mean “establishes.”
And she says…
“Let’s see another definition Webster’s dictionary gives for the word edifies. So based on what we just read there in 1 Corinthians 14:4, that that word edify can also mean establish. Establish: He that speaks in an unknown tongue establishes himself. Establish means to make firm, stable, and fixed, to speak in other tongues will serve to stabilize the believer. It will help you remain spiritually anchored. Anchored in God’s Word, anchored in His blessings, anchored in fellowship with God, and not drifting away when the storms of adversity blows.”
So there’s a lot of shaking going on…
There’s a lot of deception flying around. How do we stay anchored? Well, one way is in prayer. Prayer in other tongues, in particular, establishes us. It stabilizes us. Because a big part of receiving answers in prayer, a big part of realizing your breakthrough, a big part of being promoted in the plan of God is knowing how to remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty, how to remain established. Because the enemy, once again, wages a war of attrition. He’s going to try to tempt you, test you, get you to quit, back off, distract you. When God is saying to us today, “I just need you, Church (son, daughter), to establish yourself, to root yourself, to remain anchored in me.”
She goes on to say this…
“When the winds of adversity blow, tests and trials blow, you’ll be fortified from within to stand your ground, kept from drifting into fear, doubt, and unbelief, not slipping into the mental arena, but keeping your mouth and thoughts hooked up to your heart, a.k.a your spirit.”
And maybe that’s what the Spirit of God is saying this morning. Be mindful to stay anchored or connected to your spirit, to Him through your spirit. Remember, the Holy Spirit doesn’t live in your mind. He doesn’t live in your flesh. He lives and dwells with your spirit. You’re in fellowship with Him through your spirit. So stay connected to your spirit man.
Isaiah 28:11–12 says…
“For with stammering lips and another tongue will he,” that’s God, “speak to this people.” That’s us. “This is the rest wherewith you may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing.”
Let me continue. She says…
“This passage is telling of the benefits of speaking in other tongues in the midst of adversity. The mind can be at peace and free from torment, and refreshing can come even when faced with difficult circumstances. To speak in other tongues is to establish and fix yourself on the spiritual arena instead of the natural arena, and all its opposition. To speak in other tongues in the face of opposition is to help steady the gaze of your spiritual eyes, keeping them fixed on the unseen and eternal, and off of the tramplings of the seen and the temporal realm.”
Finally, she writes…
“As one prays in other tongues, circumstances seem less formidable. The answer stays in view.” Ooh, I like that. You mean prayer helps us to keep the answer, keep God in view? Absolutely. Keep Him in view. Keep the answer in view. Sometimes that’s all God is asking us to do in prayer, in your personal life. Keep the dream in view. Keep the promise in view about your family, about your health, your strength levels. Keep it in view.
We must stay, as pray-ers, saturated and filled with the Word of God. It must be prolific in our hearts, in our minds, in our mouths, because a lot that has to do with answered prayer comes from keeping the answer and the promise in view. Finally, she says…
“Keep the answer in view and thoughts of failure can be laughed at. For you are established, stable, and fixed in the spirit realm, the realm of victory.”
Prayed…
So Heavenly Father, we thank you this morning for your provision of your Word to us this morning.
We hear you, Lord, loud and clear.
We hear what you’re saying to us, Lord, and we pray, help us to root and ground ourselves more consistently and firmly in the reality that you are a faithful God, that you’re watching over your Word once again to perform it in our lives.
