Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Heather…
Good morning, everyone. Welcome to morning prayer. My name’s Heather Sibinski. I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word.
We have to have His presence…
I was just thinking this morning as I was preparing my heart, we all need water to survive, right? But how easy is it to go through the week and we drink coffee, and we drink tea, and we drink pop, and we drink all these things, right? We can get through the week, and then there’s water and little pieces of things we’re eating and some of the drinks that we drink. And I think it’s the same as, like, our relationship with God. We have to have His presence. We have to have Him first. But it’s so easy to serve and to be religious and to do good things and to do all these things or even if we’re filling our lives with worldly things, it’s easy to fill ourselves with the artificial things of life.
But the real thing is His presence, and we have to have to have it. And sometimes we can fill our lives with so much busyness and, well, TV, social media, books, family, good things, bad things, so many things that can take up our time that it’s easy to get into a place where we’re like, “Wow, when is the last time I really encounter His presence.” And I don’t mean just doing your devotions. We can all do those things, but it’s even easy to sit… I’ll talk from personal experience. It’s easy to sit and do my devotions in the morning, but my mind is racing and thinking of other things because we’re humans and we live in a busy world. But I could be doing my devotions, and at the same time, I could mentally be making my grocery list or thinking through my workday, right? But I’m talking about moments like this where we slow down, we put our eyes on Jesus, and remember that He is our only sustenance, that we need Him…
More than we need breath
More than we need water
More than we need entertainment
We need to have the sustaining presence of God in our lives.
Prayed…
And so we do that now, Father. We slow down. We recognize our deep, deep need for you this morning.
And we repent if we’ve filled our lives with other things besides you.
If we’ve been worshiping other things, even unknowingly, but just putting other things before you, Lord.
Because nobody is worthy of our worship.
Nobody is more worthy of our time, our adoration, our devotion than you, Father.
And when we put you first, when we put you in your rightful place in our lives, you work out all those other things we’ve been worrying about, we’ve been thinking about.
Focus on Him…
And so right now we just slow down. We focus on you. You are the focus of our love. You are the focus of our adoration. You are worthy of all our worship, all our praise, all our gratitude.
Freedom to enter the holy of holies…
Thank you that we can come into your presence because of the blood of Jesus, that we can come right into the Holy of Holies, that we can come into the throne room of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords whenever we want. Because of what Jesus did, you made a way. You made a way for us to enter into that place of your presence.
Recognize the Holy Spirit within us…
And not only that, you gave us the Holy Spirit living inside of us. We have the power of God inside of us. Just recognize that right now. You have the Spirit of the living God dwelling inside of you ready to go forth at your command, ready to do your bidding, to do the things that you command, to bind the things you bind, to loose the things you loose.
We have the power of God living in us…
Thank you that we don’t have to walk around in fear or disappointment or discouragement because we have the power of the living God inside of us. Your power is in our tongue when we speak your word. And so right now, we just recognize all you’ve done for us, the power, the authority you’ve given us.
We are seated with Him in heavenly places…
We are seated with you in heavenly places. We’re seated next to you. And why are we seated? Because the victory’s already been won by the blood of Jesus, by the word of our testimony, and so we’re seated in heavenly places.
Just picture yourself now seated in heavenly places. And we can speak to anything in our lives from that place. We can speak to anything in our churches, in our communities, in our nations, in the world. We can speak to it from that place, that seat of authority that you’ve given us, that you paid a precious price.
We repent if we’ve forgotten our place in Christ…
So forgive us, Lord, if we’ve taken that for granted, if we’ve forgotten who we are in Christ, if we’ve forgotten to speak from that place of authority, if we’ve allowed the enemy to lie and to deceive and tell us that the battle has not been won. No, no, no. It has been won, and we are seated with Him in heavenly places.
We remind ourselves that we are seated with Him…
So we remind our souls, we remind our situations, we remind our circumstances that we are seated with Him in heavenly places, that we are the head and not the tail, that we are above and not beneath, that we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus, that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, that when the enemy comes in like a flood, you raise up a standard. That we can stand and we can watch the salvation of the Lord.
He’s speaking to hearts right now…
Receive His presence. I believe He’s speaking things to hearts right now. He’s showing you times that He’s been faithful. He’s showing you times that He was there when you didn’t know He was there, when you didn’t even maybe acknowledge or recognize it, but He was there, faithful every day for your goodness.
He chose us, loved us, when we were unlovely…
You are faithful when we are faithless. You loved us when we were unlovely. You loved us first. You chose us. We think we chose you, but you chose us. Long before all eternity, you saw through the corridors of time, and you chose us, and you wrote our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life. You redeemed us with the blood of Jesus. You had a plan. Before we were even in our mother’s womb, you knew us. You knew our names, and you wrote every day of our lives in your book. And so now we say thank you that you love us with an everlasting love.
Nothing can separate us from His love…
And nothing, nothing can separate us from that love. We remind our souls of that this morning. Nothing separates us from the love of God. Whether you feel like He loves you or not, He loves you. Whether you did everything perfect today or you did it terrible, He loves you. And so we thank you, Father, for your love, your everlasting, unconditional, unchanging love.
We remind ourselves of His love…
So you’re reminding people now of your love, of your goodness, of your presence. It surrounds us. Your favor surrounds us like a shield. We are never alone. You never leave us. You never forsake us. There is no one like you. There is nothing and no one above you. Far above every principality and power are you, Father. Our Father, our God, seated on the throne, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Commander of Angel Armies.
But He knows you. He loves you. He sees you. He has every hair on your head numbered. His thoughts toward you are more than all the sands on the seashores. His plans toward you are good, to give you a future, to give you a hope, to give you a future, to give you a hope.
We are not defeated…
So I thank you, Father, now you’re restoring hope in the body of Christ. We are not defeated. We are not cast down. We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Nothing and no one can stand against us when we walk in the power of the blood of the Lamb.
He’s restoring hope, a hopeful expectation…
So thank you, Father. You’re restoring hope now. A hopeful expectation. We have a hopeful expectation for our futures. Yes, and though the world may be walking around anxious and depressed, no, no, no, no. We are the children of the most high God. We are filled with joy. The joy of the Lord is our strength. We are filled with power. You’ve given us power, dynamite power, the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us, always accessible.
So stir yourself up today, Church. Oh, for there’s much to do. And He says He wants to do it through you. Yeah, so chin up now. Eyes on Jesus, the author and the finisher of your faith.
The enemy is under your feet…
And remember, the Devil is under your feet. And though he’s walking around like a roaring lion, he may not devour us because he’s under our feet. He’s already defeated.
Darkness, you are already defeated. When you turn on the light, there’s no battle. Darkness has to leave. And we are filled with the light. So go, go, go. Shine your light. Shine your light in dark places. Shine your light in dark places, church. Stop cowering in the corner. No, no, no. Get out and shine your light in dark places. For you’ve been sent. You’ve been called. You are the sent ones. An army of God. You’re raising up an army. Raising up an army. Equipping, equipping, equipping for these days.
Cast down vain imaginations…
Fix your mind on things that are lovely, things that are pure, things that are above, things that are of a good report. Aligning your thoughts. Meditating on His Word. Casting down vain imaginations. What things are you putting in? What things are you watching? What are you listening to? What are you saying? Oh yeah, pay attention. Give heed to these things. Guard our heart now. For out of it flow the issues of life. So what does that mean? Watch those things that you’re letting drop into your heart. Disappointments. Cynicism. Doubt. Worry. Guard your heart. What you’re believing, what you’re accepting. Yeah, it’s time for some spring cleaning now. Let’s get some things out of there. Seeds that have been sown, that are trying to take root or have taken root in our hearts. Get them out now. Things that aren’t supposed to be there. Things that have taken your affection, taken your time, taken your thoughts captive. And you replace those with His things, with His thoughts, with the Word, time in His presence.
That we would have tender hearts toward Him…
Yes, create in us a clean heart, oh Lord. A heart that beats and longs for only you, Father. Stirring, stirring, stirring. That we wouldn’t harden our hearts, but that we would be soft and tender towards your things, Father. Yeah, and watch your words, for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So watch your words. What are you speaking? That’s a heart revealer. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It’s those little foxes that spoil the vine, so catch those little foxes now. Catch those words, those little things that you’re saying that are contrary to His Word.
