Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Worship leader Kathy…
Good morning, everybody. There is so much happening in the world, but we know who our God is. He’s the one who is our strength. He’s the one who’s our shield. We can’t do that in and of ourselves. I mean, compared to the universe, I’m like not even a speck, right? So I’m glad that my Father is the strong one and the protective one, and that He holds it all. He’s the one we surrender to.
Father, we long to be close to you as the deer pants for the water. You are our strength. You are our shield. You are our hearts desire.
Pastor Heather…
Isaiah 6:1, Amplified Classic…
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, [in a vision] I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train filled the [most holy part of the] temple.
2 Above Him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: with two [each] covered his [own] face, and with two [each] covered his feet, and with two [each] flew.
3 And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!
4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone and ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!
6 Then flew one of the seraphim [heavenly beings] to me, having a live coal in his hand which he had taken with tongs from off the altar;
7 And with it he touched my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity and guilt are taken away, and your sin is completely atoned for and forgiven.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And He said, Go and tell this people, Hear and hear continually, but understand not; and see and see continually, but do not apprehend with your mind.
10 Make the heart of this people fat; and make their ears heavy and shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn again and be healed.
Meditate on this, this morning…
I want you to close your eyes and just picture what we just read. He’s high and lifted up and His train fills the temple. And the angels are flying around him singing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts. The whole earth is filled with His glory.”
Just meditate on that this morning. That’s happening now. Angels are singing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.” Heaven and earth are filled with His glory. Can you picture that? It brings perspective to our lives that right now in heaven, the angels are praising Him, worshiping Him. Jesus seated at the right hand of the Father, crowned with many crowns.
That’s our Savior.
That’s our Prince of Peace.
That’s our King of Kings and our Lord of Lords.
That’s our Redeemer, our Friend, our Brother, our King, our Groom, the lover of our souls.
Worship…
We just reverence you now. Let your train fill this temple. You are so holy. You’re so high and lifted up, far above any principality and any power, far above our day-to-day troubles and tribulations. You’ve already overcome.
Thank you, Father. You’ve seated us with you in heavenly places. So we choose to place our mind now on heavenly things.
See yourself now. You’re seated with Him. You’re seated with Him in heavenly places, far above the troubles and the temporary trials of this world. We’re seated with Him, and He’s given us all authority. He’s given us everything we need…
To walk this life with godliness
To glorify His name
To heal the brokenhearted
To set the prisoners free
Thank you! We worship you today.
Here am I, Lord, send me…
And He’s saying, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us?”
Let that be the cry of your heart. “Here am I, Lord, send me.”
Let that be the cry of our hearts, Lord.
We magnify you, today. You are our everything. And as the deer pants for the water, our hearts long for you. You alone are our strength and shield.
Shared…
I asked Kathy to do that song because the other day I woke up and it was in my heart, that song. And I hadn’t heard it in so long. And, of course, she’s amazing. So she’s like, “Absolutely.” And as I was listening to it, I started playing it because it was in my heart. I was singing it. And tears just started to flow because I just thought how simple and pure and beautiful that song is.
And it reminds me of a time in my life when things were a little more simple. It was just a reminder to make Him the only thing that my heart longs for. And a time to just repent for putting anything before Him, whether knowingly or even unknowingly.
Exhortation…
And so I encourage you today, if there’s anything that you put before Him, anything you’re longing for more than His presence, more than His heart, more than His face, that today you repent and you put that in its rightful place. Because the Word says when we seek Him first, all these things will be added unto us. So we’re not to seek the “things.” Whatever that thing is that you’re seeking right now, you’re not to be seeking that. You’re to be seeking Him. He will take care of that when we keep our eyes on Him. But it’s so easy to get distracted and get our eyes on the things…
The things that need fixing
The things that are bothering us
The things we’re not sure about
But He says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.”
Prayed…
So we do that this morning, Father.
We seek you first.
We remember that there is a place where you are being worshiped, where the angels are singing “holy, holy, holy.”
And though we’re down here and we’re trying to figure things out and muddle our way through or being distracted in the busyness and the craziness of this world, we are seated with you in heavenly places.
We are seated with you in those places.
So open our spiritual eyes.
Remind our hearts to seek only you.
And all these things we’ve been worrying about, praying about, thinking about, striving towards, all those things will be added unto us.
So we do that today. We seek you, Father. Here am I. Send me, Lord. Here am I. Send me. Whatever that looks like.
Just a yielding and a laying down of our will and our way unto His will and His way.
We are living sacrifices.
And sometimes we can crawl off that altar.
So we just get back on that altar today.
We yield our spirits to the Holy Spirit.
We yield our mind and our will to your mind and your will.
Let our thoughts be your thoughts today, Father.
Let our will be your will, surrendered to your will.
For your glory, for your kingdom, not for our glory, not for our kingdom.
We reverence you today…
We remember that reverence is a part of worship, just reverencing you, being in awe of who you are, not taking you for granted in the person of who you are.
Though you call us friend, though you call us brother, sister, daughter, son, though we are in a close, intimate relationship with you, you are also God, and we reverence that.
We’re in awe of that. We don’t take that for granted.
Father, you created the universe with your words.
You spoke everything we know today into being.
You told the stars where to go, the ocean where to stop, the sun when to rise and set.
You care so deeply about us. You knit us together in our mother’s womb.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
We have this amazing God that’s so big and vast and powerful, yet so intimate and loving and knowing of who we are, that He knows the very number of the hairs on our head.
Father, your thoughts toward us are more than the sand on the seashore.
Your plans for us are good, to give us a hope and a future.
You have thoughts about us, plans for us.
You’ve created us with gifts and talents.
Yielding ourselves…
Today we say, “Here am I, send me. I yield myself as a living sacrifice for your will, to do your will, to walk in your ways.”
So now show us what that looks like, Father.
What does that look like to be a living sacrifice?
A continual surrendering.
A continual leading.
A continual yielding to the Holy Spirit.
An instant obedience.
Continue to yield…
Don’t put off for tomorrow what He’s asked you to do today. But yield, yield, yield, yield, yield to the ways of the Holy Spirit. Don’t fight Him. Don’t make it difficult. Don’t push. Don’t make Him drag you into His presence. But obey, obey, obey. Obey that gentle leading, that still, small voice.
That’s how you stay sensitive. That’s how you stay attuned to the Spirit, in instant obedience.
Thanks so much for joining us today. My name is Heather Sibinski. I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word. Have a blessed day.
