Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Welcome, everyone. Thank you so much for joining us. Thanks for making us a part of your day. We’re going to get into some prayer this morning.
End time chaos should prompt us to pray…
When we look into the world, when we listen to social media or the news, we find that the world seems to be in turmoil. The nations seem to be raging and so many things are unfolding in countries around the world right now. Even the seas are roaring, and waves are crashing. The earth is shaking. Clearly we’re seeing an advancement in the end times timetable of God’s events for this hour. That should not strike fear in us. That should simply prompt and remind us as pray-ers, as believers, that our time has come, that God has chosen to partner Himself with us in the unfolding plan for the hour, in the advancing of His purpose in your life and in my life, in your family and my family, in your nation and in this nation, our nation.
The Spirit of God is calling for our prayers right now…
The Spirit of God is crying out from the depths within us, saying, “Will we not be a people of consequence and destiny?” The Spirit of God is calling out saying, “Will you not give Me your voice?” Your lips, your praise, your articulation in the spirit, in your understanding and in your not so much understanding? Will you not simply declare the name of Yeshua over situations that you’re witnessing or hearing about or seeing on a day-to-day basis?
We’re to be a people that are to be seen, inserted into time and space, into a generation where our words carry weight, where our authority still has the ability to shift the course of human events and shift the course of lives, and sustain people so they can make a decision for Christ, so they can no longer remain hanging, teetering in a balance of sorts. But that the people you know and may not know could make a decision to go “all in” for God. Your prayers make a marked difference for them to be able to do that. Your prayers are of great value and precious in the Father’s sight. Make no mistake about it.
Daniel 2:21 says…
I was reflecting on a couple of verses this morning. Let me read a couple to you. The first one is in Daniel 2:21, NLT version. It says, “He controls the course of world events. He removes kings, and He sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.”
Psalm 72:1 says…
“Give your love of justice to the king, O God, and righteousness to the king’s son. Help him judge your people in a right way. Let the poor always be treated fairly. May the mountains yield prosperity for all, and may the hills be fruitful. Help him to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy,” that is, our leaders. “May they,” the kings, our leaders, “fear you as long as the sun shines and as long as the moon remains in the sky. Yes, forever. May the king’s rule be refreshing like spring rain on freshly cut grass. Like the showers that water the earth, may all the godly flourish during his reign. May there be abundant prosperity until the moon is no more.”
We need to pray “first of all” for leaders…
And let me read one other very familiar verse regarding prayer for leadership and presidents and prime ministers. We’re going to focus on that a little bit this morning simply because we’re coming up on the midterm election here in Minnesota, simply because we have a mandate from God Himself to pray “first of all” for those in leadership. And as we see nations hanging in the balance, things shifting, things turning, it’s clear God has in mind to take down some kings and to thrust new ones into position of influence and position of power and legislation. We need to get behind that and pray for that.
First Timothy 2:1–4 says…
“Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and the giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God, our Savior; who desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Excerpt from Patsy Camenetti’s book, “For Such a Time as This: Praying in the Last Days”
Now let me read a short excerpt that she kind of reflects back on that passage. This is an excerpt from Patsy Camenetti’s book, “For Such a Time as This: Praying in the Last Days.” And in a chapter where it’s entitled, “Having Dominion in Your Garden,” speaking of the verses we just read about praying for those in authority…
She says…
“Notice that in this verse, we are instructed to pray for all men. And verse four explains why, stating that God wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. He paid the price by the blood of His own Son for all men and all women to be saved. If our desire, however, is for just our family members or a few friends to come into our church, then our strategy placed in this scripture may be overlooked. It may be obeyed and performed dutifully as I did, but it will not be done from the heart.
“The Lord showed me that if I shared His desire for all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, I would need to be aware of and embrace the instructions sandwiched between verses one and four. With this in mind, you can see that by targeting kings and people in positions of authority, the ‘all men,’ under the influence of those persons will be affected. You can actually affect more people in prayer when you pray for those in authority over them.”
Do you see that?
She goes on to say…
“Along with this urgent exhortation to pray for kings and all who are in authority comes the authorization for us to pray for these people. Note that the term kings is plural, indicating that we should pray for kings other than our own.”
Oh, come on now. Somebody’s prayer assignment just got expanded right there. You just received a promotion in prayer! Yes, pray for your president, but perhaps God would have you lift up the prime minister of another country, the leader of another land.
She goes on to say…
“Indicating that we should pray for kings other than our own, as well as any and all persons of authority and influence. It is glorious to think that people of outstanding influence whom you see on television and in the magazines can actually be influenced by what the Holy Spirit inspires you to pray. Look around your garden. In addition to yourself, your family, and your friends, 1st Timothy 2:1–2 mentions others you may be instructed to pray for. Therefore, you have a right and a responsibility to pray for all those mentioned. Let’s pray knowing that the Holy Spirit, who is our helper, cannot help us if we’re doing nothing. But He is ever ready to inspire and empower us when we pray in this arena.”
You were created for connection with Him…
One thing that I was reminded of yesterday as I was kind of reflecting and doing some studying is the simple fact that God did not birth you and I into this earth realm to lead a life on our own. But He’s chosen Jesus to come and make a way for us to find connection with our Heavenly Father, with our Creator. You were created for connection with Him, and with one another, but firstly with Him. And your mission in life is to not just observe and just go through life getting by. But as Christians, as followers of Jesus, we’ve been sent to this earth realm to make a difference, to shift things, to turn things, to be a people who establish here a little, there a little, one prayer at a time, one life at a time perhaps, Kingdom of God operations in the earth realm.
Our job is to be a thermostat…
I think some Christians live their lives thinking they’re called to be a thermometer, simply to measure the temperature of the spiritual condition in their lives or home or nation. But the truth of the matter is, our job is to be a thermostat. Not a thermometer, but a thermostat. We’re here to set the temperature.
But the truth of the matter is, God can’t do just what He wants to do oftentimes in a nation unless those called by His name will humble themselves, seek His face, and contend and pray. He’s chosen, as you often hear me say, to collaborate, to partner with us in addressing the conditions. Prayer turns up the spiritual thermostat in your life, in your home, and even in a nation, and among the leaders of a nation.
Our prayers are precious to the Father…
Our prayers cannot be avoided in heaven. They’re, in fact, precious to the Father. Our prayers are prominent in the spirit realm. When we pray them from the heart, like James chapter five says, “The earnest, heartfelt, continued, or persistent prayer of a righteous man makes much power available dynamic in its working.” It produces much power.
Stay at your post…
So I just want to stir you up once again on this Monday morning. Stay at your post. Refuse to back off. Refuse to just put up with something that you’re seeing. Refuse to just measure the temperature of the conditions of your nation or your household or a child or a grandchild. Instead, choose to grab hold of that thermostat and turn it up with your prayers, that there would be movement in the plan of God, that there would be a conviction in the hearts of those who have yet to profess Christ, that there would be a sending of God’s glory to our land and our nation.
We see an unfolding of revival…
We see an unfolding, just glimpses of it, just the beginning stages of the glory in our nation. But it’s only the beginning. So that should egg us on to pray all the more and say, “God, you said in your Word.” Prayer should be God looking over the banister and balconies of heaven, seeing His people, you and me in other words, reflecting and reminding Him of His prophetic intention, reminding Him of His Word and promises.
Prophetic word by Billye Brim about Minneapolis…
Billye Brim shared this prophetic word a number of years ago. It’s a prophetic word for Minneapolis. She spoke under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Prophetic word…
“Minneapolis is a major battlefield, an arena of great proportion for the soul of this nation. That’s why I have stationed my strongest soldiers there, most pointedly in the realm of prayer. This has always been My mode of operation through many years. The end of this age will reveal My victory through the saints in light. For darkness, which seemingly operates unchecked, shall not. Hallelujah. And it shall not overcome the light. All the nations shall see and benefit from what I am doing in Minneapolis.”
Glory to God!
