Well, good morning everyone. Welcome to Morning Prayer. Good to have you with us. My name is Ken. And we’re going to get into some prayer this morning and just let the Spirit of God guide us, coach us, lead us as to what we need to be praying out.
James 5:16, Amplified Classic…
I want to remind you of a passage found in the Book of James 5:16 in the Amplified Classic: “Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”
Let’s set our expectation for prayer…
Aren’t you glad that prayer makes tremendous power available? Let’s have an expectancy that’s what’s going to be happening as we pray this morning collectively as a company of followers of Jesus, that we’re going to make power available, that we’re going to delegate God’s ability to situations on a large scale, on a small scale, whatever the case might be, to go to work to do what God wants done.
And also have an expectancy that as you connect with God this morning, as you worship Him, as you pray and yield yourself to Him, that you are being filled with Him. I mean, ultimately, whether it’s prayer or any other facet of our lives, what is necessary, what is of utmost importance is for us to be fully endowed and filled with the Spirit of God.
He’s the great equipper.
He’s the great strengthener.
He’s the great encourager.
He is our ever-present source of help in prayer and in every other arena of life. And so just know that today. I believe you’re going to be filled. What the church needs now is to be renewed and refreshed and refilled with the Spirit of God.

Where the Holy Spirit is coaching us
Where He’s throwing us cues
Where He is leading us into divine strategy that will result in God’s plan and God’s abundance and God’s blessing
God is enlarging our boundaries…
We talked about on Monday how God is preparing us for increase. That He’s enlarging our boundaries, that He’s stretching us in some ways and getting us ready for a new level of assignment, a new degree of His blessing and favor and goodness. And I had said that in Jude 20 that it not only means when it talks about praying in other tongues that you are maybe charged or built up, but it also means that you’re expanded or you’re enlarged or that your boundaries are moved out so that you have a greater ability to receive more and more and more of God. I love the fact that His presence brings renewal and expansion to our lives each and every day.
The author of this book speaks about speaking from the Spirit…
“Your spirit is the only part of you that has been born again. It’s the only part that has changed. When you speak from the spirit, your words will have power. If you want the power of God in your life and you want that manifestation, then you must cross over to where you learn to speak from down in your heart. You must watch the words that you speak. Matthew 12:36–37 says ‘Jesus says, I say that for every idle word men may speak, they will give an account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.’
We also know the Old Testament passage that says that life and death is in the power of the tongue, and those who choose to speak words of life or words of death will experience the results of that. Let’s just put it that way.
He goes on to say…
“Jesus spoke to me in person when I was with Him during a heavenly visitation. I met Him when I died on the operating table in 1992. Jesus said, ‘Kevin, you will be held accountable for every idle word that you speak.’ When I got back, I had to go and look that up because I didn’t know that was in the Bible. And I love to talk. Jesus was instructing me that I needed to tone it down a little bit and be careful about what I say because the tongue is a rudder. Isn’t that what James says? In fact, James 3:4–5 says, ‘Look also at the ships. Although they are so large and driven by fierce winds, they turn by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so, the tongue is a little member and boasts a great thing.’”
So just pause right there this morning and think about that.
What have you been saying?
What have you been flippant or casual about regarding what’s coming out of your mouth?
What have you stopped up?
What have you blocked up?
What have you permitted to flow based on what you’re saying?
I’m not here to be the speech police today or anything. I’m just here to point you to what the scriptures say. And as pray-ers, if we’re going to come in here and be effective, we also must take personal responsibility for our speech.
Words release things…
I said on Monday that ultimately when it comes to prayer, when it comes to our day-to-day lives, God desires for us to surrender ourselves to Him in every way, not just in our attitudes, our outlook, our decisions, or where we might go today, but also in our speech, that He, in fact, desires to borrow our minds and our mouths. Because it’s through our minds and our mouths that God is able to speak in our atmospheres, in our homes, over our nation. And it seems like not a real consequential thing to the natural human mind, but the truth is, according to scripture, if we’re going to kind of lay it out from a scriptural standpoint, words release things.
God speaks ahead of what He’s going to do…
God always speaks ahead of what He’s going to do or demonstrate. And when you speak something, you’re depositing something. That’s why I like to say, don’t just pray until you know God has heard you. Pray until you have heard from God. Because it’s what He speaks in your heart in the still, small voice of His Spirit in those times of worshipful waiting that release something. Because with the word He speaks, there’s a transmission.
He reveals, transmits, and discloses…
The book of John says that the Holy Spirit comes to reveal, transmit, and disclose. Notice that says reveal. I think the King James says He comes to declare. The Amplified says transmit and disclose. In other words, there’s a disclosure with what He declares. When He declares a thing to you in His Word, when He declares a thing in a rhema sense in your heart. In other words, God-breathed for you personally today kind of word, there’s a disclosure. There’s a download that you receive from that word.
Maybe it’s encouragement.
Maybe it’s grace to take another step.
Maybe it’s a strategy to go a new way today.
Maybe it’s healing.
When His Word is spoken, it transmits…
Make no mistake about it, the Bible still records He sent His Word and healed them because His Word releases something. His Word delivers something, much like that Amazon Prime package or FedEx package that shows up at your door. When His Word is spoken, it transmits. It delivers something. And as pray-ers, we’re very conscious that…
We’re to pray.
We’re to open our mouths.
We’re to worship.
We’re to wait on God.
Waiting is a weapon…
But make no mistake about it, God has some things He wants to say to us today. I suppose that’s why it’s been said that waiting is a weapon. The enemy’s always got us in a rush. He knows nothing more than to rush and be anxious, and he’s a devil of fear. He’s the spirit of fear.
But when you learn to wait, when you learn to rest, it is a weapon that you engage against your enemy that defeats him every time, that exposes him every time. And it’s in the waiting that we receive. It’s in the hearing of His voice that something fresh is downloaded, that you receive a level up, that you receive an upgrade.
If you have a smartphone, it needs regular updates. Sometimes it needs to be full-on rebooted. Well, that’s true for us at times, for our soul, for our lives. It needs an update on a regular basis. And the Holy Spirit is the updater. When He speaks, when we hear His word, when we hear Him in our hearts, we receive an update.
Things are fixed.
Things are ironed out.
Strategy comes.
We get a promotion in some way.
God never intended that we would go it alone…
The Holy Spirit is coaching us as pray-ers, as believers, as everyday people doing what we do on a daily basis. God never intended that we would go it alone, that we would be the Marlboro Man who strikes out on his own and does his own deal independent as he is.
We were called into relationship to be interdependent…
No, we were called into relationship to be interdependent. That’s what prayer is all about, to be in relationship with Him. Jesus Himself decided to lay down his Godhead and deity when He took on the form of a human being. In other words, He was God, but He stepped out of eternity and into time and space and took on the form of a human being. And the Bible says that Jesus Himself said, “I can do nothing apart from my Father.” And so He stepped out of His Godhead and deity and took on the form of a human being and chose to become filled with the Spirit. And it was as He was filled with the Spirit, He was empowered to go and do the Father’s will, the Father’s plan, His job assignment in His earthly life and ministry. And in doing so, he left us a template to follow, that we too must be a people who are endowed and refreshed regularly, continuously with the Spirit of God.
We need to be inspired and become hungry to receive a fresh Pentecost…
I know this is very simple, but I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling refreshed already just hearing myself talk about it. It’s not enough to read about the Azusa Street outpouring of the early part of the 20th century. It’s not enough to go to Scripture and just read about the book of Acts and the outpouring at the day of Pentecost. But the truth of the matter is we need to be inspired and become hungry to receive a fresh Pentecost, to receive a fresh outpouring of Azusa Street, if you will. It’s the same spirit. Amen?
Be filled with heaven’s resource, heaven’s wisdom…
So leverage your will today as a pray-er, as a believer, as a mom, as a dad, as a leader. At whatever your station of life is, leverage your will and say, “Lord, more than anything, I’m desperate for you. More than anything, I desire you and the outpouring of your Spirit.” Because when you connect with Him, when you receive Him, you receive the contents of heaven. When you connect with the Father in prayer, in worship, in times of silence and solitude and waiting, you begin to be filled with heaven’s resource, heaven’s wisdom. That was the template Jesus left for us to follow. And because He took on humanity, the form of a human, He reveals to us that we can do it, too, because you’re human and I’m human.
And it’s the prayer from the heart that is effectual…
We’re spirit ultimately, but we are housed in the humanness of our bodies with a soul, mind, will, and emotions. And so we need the Spirit of God desperately today. And as we become full of Him, we can surrender further, and therefore, the Holy Spirit can borrow our minds and our mouths so that we can pray effectively from our hearts. And it’s the prayer from the heart that is effectual, as the King James says, that produces much power, that shifts the course of human and world events, that moves mountains out of the way, that dispels darkness and fears and traumas. And everything including the kitchen sink that the enemy might have thrown in your way, has to obey and move out of the way because it recognizes the authority that rests on you.
Hallelujah. Glory to God! If you want to operate in true God-ordained spiritual authority, then you must align your life with His Word, align your life with His presence and His Spirit. Let me go on to read what Kevin Zadai is writing here in this book about speaking from the Spirit.
Kevin Zadai says…
“Jesus spoke this to me [when he had a heavenly visitation when he died on the operating table in 1992].” And then the Lord reminded him, “Watch what you say. Be cognizant of what you’re speaking.”
In fact, I feel right now there’s somebody listening to me that your words have become roadblocks, that you have stopped up and blocked up. Even though the Bible says there is therefore now no condemnation, one translation says there is now therefore no blockage, no stoppage, nor anything preventing the flow of God from coming to you and through you, except your words. There isn’t. Everything’s been removed out of the way, but you can choose to speak words of death. You can choose to counteract or diffuse the power of His Word by speaking death, by speaking fear, by saying, “You know, I don’t know if I’m able to do that.”
You have what you say!
Isn’t that what the Bible declares and teaches? So let me read this again. James 3:4–5 says, “Look also at ships. Although they are large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.”
Jesus explained this verse to me and told me that the little rudder is your tongue. We have to give an account on the day of judgment for every idle word that we have spoken. Jesus started to teach me, and He told me how everything started. Everything that you see in the universe is expanding at the speed that God spoke it. Jesus said, quote, ‘We decided what we were going to do as a Trinity, and then we spoke. We spoke what we believed in our hearts, and we framed the worlds.’
What are you speaking?
