Live at Living Word on a Monday morning once again. Good morning, everyone. Good to see you. My name is Ken Olson. And I’m glad to be here to pray with you this morning.
Theme to For His Kingdom Conference was commitment to follow God…
This past week, we had an outstanding For His Kingdom Conference. It was so good. One of the themes that seemed to be woven, at least from my perspective, through each of the sessions had to do with commitment and consecration to follow God. To follow His plan. And so I thought I would share some things along those lines today.
Matt. 26:36…
Let me just share a passage of scripture with you in Matthew chapter 26:36: “Then cometh Jesus with them unto the place called Gethsemane and saith unto the disciples, ‘Sit you here a while and go and pray as I go and pray yonder.’ He took with Him Peter and the sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith He unto them, ‘My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death. Tarry here for a while, and watch with Me.’ And He went a little further and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.’”
The theme of commitment to God’s plan and not ours…
Not my will, in other words, but your will. Let that be done.
“And He cometh unto the disciples and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, ‘What, could you not watch with me for an hour? Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.’”
Excerpt from book “Contact With God” by Jeannie Wilkerson
And let me couple that with other passages. One is found in a book which I think is called “Contact With God” by Jeanne Wilkerson, I believe. And she writes about no turning back…
“Prayer will compel people and nations to make decisions either for or against God. When we pray for people, they must make the decision to stay where they are or go on with God.”
This morning we’re going on with God, aren’t we? That’s why you’re here.
“God is a God who moves. Genesis 1:2 says, ‘The Spirit of God moved,’ and He has been moving ever since. For example, in the Bible, He always told His disciples, “Go forward. Don’t ever go back. Go on to perfection.” Daniel was greatly beloved of God, and he was able to perceive the signs of the times. He knew that it was not God’s will for His people to be where they were, and he knew when it was time for them to come into the promises of God. So he set himself to seek God in prayer on the matter.”
Pastor Ken commentary…
I have often said this, “Prayer sets the Holy Spirit in motion in the direction of God’s intention. It also sets us in motion in the direction of God’s intention.” So I believe to pray is to move forward in the plan of God, to move the plan of God forward. And so keep that in mind as we pray this morning.
She goes on to say…
“So he set himself to seek God in prayer on the matter. His prayers forced people to make a decision to either continue in captivity or to seek freedom. That is why there is such a great need for intercession today. It will bring men and women to an ultimate decision point for God. God speaks of multitudes of people in the valley of decision. In fact, this is that hour to make a great decision for God. This is the time to decide whether to move forward with God or not. God is not a God of stagnation.”
Can I get an amen?
God has it in mind for us to move forward…
So God does not have stagnation in mind for any of us today. He has it in mind for us to move forward. So as we pray this morning, we’re going to move the plans of God for your life, for this church, for our nation forward. You’re going to jumpstart some things, some things that were sown in your heart and your spirit during this past week of conference meetings. I believe prayer is going to stimulate and jumpstart those purposes within you. So that you can walk them out, so that you can be a part of seeing them become reality in the days ahead.
Excerpt from book, “Following God’s Plan for Your Life” by Kenneth Hagin
Now let me read something else to you from Brother Kenneth Hagin’s book entitled “Following God’s Plan For Your Life.” Just another excerpt that kind of meshes with this. He writes in this one chapter about consecration to God’s plan.
Brother Hagin writes…
“It’s so important to make a quality decision once and for all to go all out for God and follow His plan for your life. That decision will be an anchor to your soul to keep you in God’s perfect will when the Devil tries to bring his best temptations into your life to distract and detour you from the plan of God.”
A word of knowledge for someone…
In fact, as I’m talking right now, I’m convinced there’s somebody, maybe you’re online, maybe you’re in here, all that is required right now for you to be set free from some angst, from some anxiety, from some upset and tumults in your emotional state, in your life in some regard is to make a decision, “Lord, I’m going to commit myself fully to you today. I’m going to go all out for you today, and every day.”
It doesn’t matter if you have a misfire or you make a misstep or a mistake, God’s grace is always available to us. We have an advocate with the Father. His name is Jesus Christ the Righteous, and He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us and to keep us in a state of forgiveness and cleansed-ness. Excuse my English. We can take advantage of that. We can walk in that. That’s what it’s there for, so when we mess up, we just call on Him. We thank Him for His forgiveness. We see ourselves in the fullness of His redemptive work.
That was an emphasis on Andrew Wommack’s teachings yesterday, was the importance of knowing and professing and walking in what has been given to us in Christ. His righteousness, in other words. His acceptance. His new name for us that we would be called His beloved, His sons, His daughters.
Don’t allow yourself to stay in a low place…
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t stay in a low place where you’re beating yourself up, or you’re being obsessed with thinking about what went wrong or what didn’t work out. No! Lift your eyes, the Bible says, for your salvation is nearer than when you first believed. Lift your eyes and become captivated by who you are in Him today, captivated by His forgiveness, captivated by the fact that He became sin.
1st Corinthians 5:21 says…
“He who knew no sin became sin that we might become the righteousness, the rightness of God in Him.” You are labeled the “rightness of God in Him.” So why, of course, we can all come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain because we’re right before Him. His blood has been applied to your heart if you called on His name, and that blood…
Ever speaks of your rightness
Ever speaks of your worthiness
Ever speaks of the fact that you have been cleansed and endowed with righteousness
Ever speaks that you are enabled to be called His son or His daughter and work for Him.
So Brother Hagin goes on to say…
“You see, the Devil will bid high for you. He will use his best temptations to try to keep you from obeying God. If you’ve never fully surrendered everything to the Lord, you stand in danger of being persuaded by the Devil’s temptations to pursue your own will and fleshly inclinations and desires and lose out on God’s best for you.”
“So all that is required is a simple decision today and every day, “Lord, I am going to follow you and give you everything I have.”
Scripture records in Matthew 5:6…
“Blessed or empowered to succeed or prosper are those who hunger and thirst for the rightness of God for they shall be filled.” So let your heart be hungry today to know about and to be renewed to the fact that you are a new you, that you’ve been transformed into a new creature that never existed before…
One that is worthy
One that is fully accepted by the Godhead in every way
One that has been cleansed thoroughly through the deepest parts of you
We can stand up with a new boldness…
Including everything that occurred in your past, that you might stand up with a new boldness and a new ability to have no fear and no condemnation and no reservation to step out and go after God today. In prayer and in your assignment, wherever you are in life, whatever season you find yourself in. You can hold your head high and know that He’s crowned you with His righteousness. He’s robed you in His worthiness and His acceptance and His great love.
We are His beloved…
The Lord’s facial expressions toward you and me is He has a smile on His face. He loves what He sees. You may not love what you see because you’re looking just at the natural, but if you’ll lift your eyes once again to His Word and to what the Spirit of God inside of you is whispering, you’ll see He’s saying to you, “You’re worthy. You’ve got this, because I’ve got you. You’re holy. You’re accepted. You’re adopted into the brotherhood of the beloved.”
You’re a child of God. There’s therefore now no condemnation, no blockage, no stoppage, nothing to prevent the flow of God’s goodness and grace from coming to and through your life today.
So Brother Hagin goes on to say…
“Many Christians are at a crossroad in their lives right now. In other words, they face decisions that will affect the course of their lives. They are at a crossroads where they must decide if they’re going to consecrate themselves fully to do God’s will, no matter what He asks them to do.”
The prayer of consecration is not a one-time deal…
It’s something we must do daily, really, sometimes moment by moment throughout your day. You’re consecrating yourself to be aware of Him, to acknowledge His abiding presence. You’re consecrating yourself to Him to live uprightly and to live in such a way that is pleasing to Him in your soul and in your thoughts and in your decisions. In a way actually that reflects who you are on the inside. Your spirit has been recreated into the image of Jesus.
But you’ve got to be informed on the inside of the new person you’ve become in Him so that your outsides begin to change, so that your decisions become increasingly aligned with who you are on the inside. What God declares ought to be so for your life and your future.
I believe some good decisions are going to be made here today.,,
To go all out for God, to simply be aware of Him and acknowledge Him at lunchtime. When you take a break this afternoon, when you’re driving home perhaps this evening, be aware of His presence. The hard work of what needed to be done in our lives was fully accomplished in the work that Jesus did for us. Our hard work is to introduce ourselves daily and stay cognizant of the fact that we aren’t the old self that we once were, that we have been transformed into a new creature, into a new person with some new features…
Including righteousness
Including a full acceptance into the family of God
Including the right to the use of the name of Jesus
Including the ability to submit ourselves therefore to God.
Resist the Devil and he will flee from you…
Your enemy’s not the one who has the upper hand. “You” have the upper hand! Little old you. But with God, we’re not so little anymore. We’ve been arrayed with some weaponry. We’ve been arrayed with some spiritual abilities to send the enemy packing at every turn.
Oh, he is in the atmosphere…
He is in the surrounding parallel universe around us, and demonic entities collaborate to try to tempt and steal and kill and destroy. But if we will be fully aware and fully cognizant of the fact that we’re the ones that have been endowed with a sword of the spirit, we’re the ones that carry a shield of faith, we’re the ones that have a javelin of prayer to take out the enemy, even at a distance, then he will have no ability to hurt or harm us.
We’ve been given authority in Christ…
Because in Christ, we’ve been given authority. In Christ, we’ve been given newfound abilities to go forth in victory today. Not to live a life of ups and downs, but to live a life as is prescribed in the scriptures. What does it say in the scriptures? That the path of the righteous should be an onward and upward incline into God, where we go from victory to victory, from glory to glory. And a big part of living and experiencing that is becoming simply aware of His abiding presence more and more each day.
