Yesterday, Sandy got a partner letter from Jerry Savelle speaking about joy. Remember the book he wrote, If Satan Can’t Steal Your Joy, He Can’t Keep Your Goods. In the beginning of his letter, he said, “How do you respond to adversity? Do you complain? Find someone else to blame? Get depressed and feel bad about yourself?”

This morning, when I got up, there was a secular teacher of some sort on the news. He was speaking the Word without actually speaking the Word. He had a list of things that asked, “Do you blame someone else when something is going wrong in your life?” and “Do you always complain? Do you get depressed?” His deal was to “just get over it and move on.”

But brother Jerry said, “Whatever hardship or challenge you are facing, it cannot stand against the power and purpose of God in your life. But how you respond to times of trouble has everything to do with receiving the victory God has for you!” It’s a big deal. Then he said, “Many years ago, the Holy Spirit taught me a principle that not only blessed me and produced many victories in my life, but has also brought victories in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. Today I want to share with you some new revelation the Lord has given me concerning this time-tested, spiritual principle.”

Then he mentioned his book from years ago: If Satan Can’t Steal Your Joy, He Can’t Keep Your Goods. He said, “It’s been reprinted numerous times, into many languages, and is still after all these years one of our bestselling books. I have applied this principle all these years and it’s still working for me and has produced more victories than you could ever imagine! However, recently, God has given me some fresh revelation regarding this and I sensed the leading of the Holy Ghost to share it with you—my faithful partner. The author of Hebrews describes the proper response we should have to adversity writing, ‘You endured a great struggle with sufferings… and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods.’ (Heb. 10:32–36)

Then he uses the Message translation that says, “Nothing they did bothered you, nothing set you back. So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.”

Sandy and I watch House Hunters International. A lot of times, those people are unhappy with their lives so they move to some island, to get away from the world. In some ways, maybe that’s good but we can’t be on an island. We’re to be making a difference in other people’s lives. It’s not just about me and my family. I know God has prosperity in mind for us and to have all our needs met. That’s true. But our lives are not just about only that.

When Andrew Wommack was here ministering, he talked about giving out toward others. We’re not created just to be “all about us.” He made a statement saying that we have never literally seen ourselves. People were going, “What? I know what I look like. I see a picture or look in the mirror.” He said, “Yes, but that’s just a reflection. You’re not seeing yourself the way other people see you. Your eyes are made to look out. You can’t look at yourself.” I thought that was an awesome example that we’ve been created to look outward at others.

It reminded me how Pastor Lynne would always encourage us to “look out” to others in prayer. We didn’t spend our time laying hands on each other and blessing each other and then go home. There’s a time for that, but in general, we had to put a stop to prayer meetings that would get so internal that they were no externally good. They were “self-ministering.” The Holy Spirit does minister to us. What we sow corporately in prayer, we’re going to reap back. I always believe that in the time we pray together, God by His Spirit will do something in us because we’re lifting up our voices in one accord and we’re sowing seed out toward others.

We need to always keep that in our hearts that it’s not all about us. He wants us to be filled. I’m not saying He doesn’t. He’s meeting our needs. But His purpose for giving us His power and anointing is to go outward to others.

That’s why Jesus came. He only did and said the will of the Father. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost had a plan and the plan was for us to have fellowship with Him, but not just so you could sit in your little corner and say, “I’m blessed.” It was so that every person could experience the fullness of God. We are the hands and feet of almighty God to touch the world. I believe that’s coming as a revelation to the Church, that by the power of the Holy Spirit through revelation and insight to the holy written Word, that that is being revealed and unveiled that Christ in you, the hope of glory is for you to give away. You have been filled to give away God Himself in the earth.

We believe, Father, that the Church is looking outward. The Church first looks upward, looks at His greatness and magnitude of God. Then they reflect that glory down to the world. The world will be able to say, “I have to have what you have.” Undeniable proof and evidence of You, Father, bringing hope to the hopeless. Eyes to see it and strength to do it.

The husband of one of our prayer leaders had an interesting experience at his job. We believe to be a witness and let Him shine out of us. You don’t always necessarily have to say anything to be a witness. We should be bright enough that they’ll see the light. She said her husband was at work and a man came up to him and said, “You’re a Christian, aren’t you?” He’s like, “Well, yes. How could you tell?” He said, “The way you react to everything and the way you look at everything.” He said it was basically the way he looked. He said, “You look like a Christian.” He was so blessed because he didn’t even have to open his mouth. Well, he did in the way he reacted to things and how he spoke. But he wasn’t out and out witnessing to this man. His life was the witness. That’s blessed, isn’t it?

Sometimes Christians need to tell their billboard… This is your billboard (she’s pointing to her face) to the world. If you’re happy, notify your face. I had a similar experience as that man. I was in the grocery store and I started to quietly sing in tongues, singing a happy, merry song. I got lost in the spirit while singing. I walked up to the cashier while singing in other tongues. I said, “Hi.” And she looked at me and said, “Are you always this happy?” I thought, “Oh my, I was singing in tongues.” But she felt the joy.

That actually is basically the rest of brother Jerry’s letter. I started out by saying if you’re experiencing adversity, do you complain or blame others or get depressed and feel bad about yourself. That’s the wrong way. Then he shared his revelation concerning a furtherance of “if the Devil can’t steal your joy, he can’t keep your goods.” He said, “Notice that if you want God’s best, then no matter what comes your way—remain joyful, remain cheerful, keep smiling, and determine that you will stick it out until God’s plan and purpose is fulfilled. Always remember that for every negative thing that happens in your life, God has something positive waiting to manifest. But in order for it to happen, you must not let go of your joy nor your confidence in God’s ability to bring it to pass. Never allow the devil to think that what he’s doing bothers you in the least. Just keep smiling and let him know, as the Apostle Paul did, that ‘None of these things move you.’ (Acts 20:24)

Then He says, “Don’t ever let the devil steal your joy! The Lord spoke to my spirit and I’m writing to tell you, Get Ready—God is about to turn the tide! And the key that will activate this in your life is you giving voice to your joy! The atmosphere in your home should be charged with the sound of rejoicing. Psalm 118:15 says, ‘The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous.’ The Message translation says, ‘Hear the shouts, hear the triumph songs in the camp of the saved? The hand of God has turned the tide, the hand of God is raised in victory.’ Do you need the “tide to be turned” in your life today? Then never let go of your joy, never let go of your rejoicing, and never let go of your victory shout!

“Anybody can shout after the enemy is subdued, but real Bible-faith does it before! Psalms 47:1 instructs us to ‘Oh clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph.’ And as a result of our rejoicing, verse 3 says, ‘He shall…’ Notice that our shouting with the voice of triumph precedes God subduing our enemy! Doing your shouting before your circumstances change, moves God. It shows Him that you really do trust Him and that you are fully persuaded He is greater than your enemy and that He will subdue him just as He has promised!”

“So what are you waiting for? GO AHEAD AND SHOUT!”

Group begins to shout with the voice of victory…

Jerry continued, “I want to encourage you to let the devil know on a daily basis that no matter what he does, it will never stop you from rejoicing. Practice what Paul instructed us to do in Phil. 4:4, ‘Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.’ When do we rejoice? When everything is going well? No! We rejoice always!

“When you give voice to joy first, God will turn the negative things that are happening in your life into something positive. Don’t wait for your circumstances to turn and then rejoice. That’s just not the Bible-way of doing things. Rejoice now and refuse to quit until the victory comes… then rejoice some more for the victory!”

Jerry’s life is a testimony to everything that he says. He said, “I realize now more than ever that every test can be turned into a testimony if we respond with the right attitude. My challenge to you today is this: dare to believe that as you continue to give voice to joy, that God is getting ready to turn the tide, that God is about to restore everything that Satan has stolen, and that God is about to make the devil wish he had never attacked you.”

Hallelujah! Don’t you like the part where every single thing that was ever stolen from you by the enemy will be returned and even in a greater way multiplied!

♪ You make me joyful in this house of prayer… With the shout of victory…

Pastor Ray shared…

Years ago, I went on a missions trip with Pastor Kent Otey. We were in Amsterdam and he found out about a man that ministered to the prostitutes and he lived in the center of the red light district. He was really down and depressed and he needed help and wanted prayer. Kent asked, “Who wants to go?” About four or five of us went to his house. He was alone and depressed. He was ministering to the lost in that area and was not seeing any fruit. We started praying for him. We went “old school.” We put him in a chair, the hot seat, and we got around him and laid hands on him and prayed. We didn’t know what to pray other than prayer in other tongues. But my tongues kept turning into laughter as we prayed. I couldn’t stop laughing. It was a mixture of tongues and joy. Finally, we felt released. Afterward, the man said, “Who was laughing all the time?” I said, “I was.” He said, “That set me free!” It set him free and stirred him up. He got fired up and was ready to do what we read in Hebrews—keep on moving ahead and walking in joy no matter what the Devil has said and done.
