The following excerpt is taken from Contact With God by Jeanne Wilkerson:
I spent nineteen years praying for a certain church because God showed me a vision for that church that you wouldn’t believe. When I began praying for it, He said, This church is like Lazarus – it is sick unto death. (John 11.) But don’t sit down like those who came to the cross and just sat down and watched My Son, Jesus, die. (Mark 15:29-32.) Then God told me He was raising up intercessors in the church, just as He raised up Lazarus from the dead. (John 11:43, 44.)
God told me, If you will go into intercession, then I will show you the things I intend to do for this place. Well, I went into intercession for this church and stayed in it every night for six years.
But when Daniel realized this, he didn’t just say, “Praise God, it is spoken in the Word, and it will come to pass on its own.” No, it wouldn’t! Before the captivity could be broken, the prince of the powers of the air had to be dealt with in the heavenlies through prayer.
In Daniel 9:2 it says, “In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.” Daniel had studied the Word, but it wasn’t enough to set Israel free.
The same is true for us today. It isn’t enough for us to have enlightening Bible studies and understand the will of God and His promises. We can’t just say, “Bless God, I’ll just confess the Word and everything will be fine.” No, it won’t! We have to do something to act on that confession. The promise must be birthed through prayer.
Danield set himself to do something. He prayed. Daniel said, “And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes” (Dan. 9:3). He wasn’t even guilty; his people were. But he identified himself with the sin of his people. That is what the Spirit of Christ does.
You should identify with your church in intercession. You should confess their failures and shortcomings. But never forget to come back to plead God’s promises of mercy as you come boldly to the throne of grace.
If we had enough people in the church today with hearts to pray in that manner, we could save America! In Ephesians, we see what the New Testament says about intercession:
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:10-12
When this verse says “high places,” it means places of authority.
I have been to Washington D.C., and I have seen the capital of our nation and the ruling seat of our government. Let me tell you, that is the place toward which U.S. citizens need to direct their prayers. If they don’t, our nation will miss the plan of God. The world system will never save America. It is the church that is going to have the power to turn the tide and save America.

Father, we thank You for the opportunity to pray
We thank You for the beauty of Your Word and its reminder to us of how You operate
You have chosen to work in and through us, and we lift our hearts to You, Lord
Yes, we humble ourselves before You today
Wherever we have been slow to respond, we repent of that
We lift up this nation, and we pray that we would come back to You and to Your Word
Praying for mercy upon our nation and over each and every believer, Lord
Lifting up the nation of Israel, and we pray for Your mercy to be over and around her
Yes, we declare the blood of Jesus would be over Israel’s borders and over the cities
Declaring that mercy and grace would cover Israel from the north to the south, east to the west
Open up, we pray for an opening up of the way, there must be a new way, Lord
We pray for revivals and awakenings to happen all across this nation and land
Yes, we will do all that You have called us to do, Father
You are the way maker, You are breaking off those chains and all those bondages
Casting down every stronghold and obstacle that would try to limit us
Thank You for breakthroughs in the name of Jesus
We dispatch ministering spirits to go and work on our behalf in Jesus’ name
Angels, go and work on our behalf
There must come a moving today, it must move out of the way
We roll those things out of the way
Commanding a shaking in those places, Lord
Yes, You are the King of Kings and the Lord of all Lords
Thank You for the backing of Your power, might, and energy
We command there to be a breaking in the heavenly region
Casting down every stronghold, be broken down and moved out of the way
We command the way to be opened, calling for supernatural openings
Shaking those things off, every enemy stronghold is being brought down
Make way for the coming of the Lord
Calling for an arising of Your Spirit in these day, Father
Identified, You have called them out and revealed them
Yes, called out of the darkness and into the light!
Come out, come out wherever you are
Calling for the light to shine brighter, those things are being cleared up now!
Let there be an operation of Your Spirit, to cast brightness and glory on the church
We pray for a raising up in the church now!
Yes we call up the church, it is time to get ready and time to repent
It is time to take full advantage of the blood of Jesus
Calling in the troops now, marching to the forefront in every nation
The church must be ready; there is a renewal and a greater awareness
Shake that off, shake it off, shake it off in Jesus’ name
It is our time to rise up, we pray for a great company of believers now!
Yes, we are in position and at our post
Sending in the supplies in Jesus’ name
No, we will not be without
You have supplied us with everything we need to fulfill Your call and plan
Praying for a release of Your Spirit like we have never seen before

Calling for the darkness to be overtaken by the light!
The church is rising up, a rising now to stand strong and united
Yes, we are overcomers and we will lay hands on the sick and they will recover

Release it in Jesus’ name, we ask for a release of Your Spirit in these last days

Praying for an opening, we pray for those things to come to pass in these days
We pray for a supernatural sequencing in the plan of God
Yes, we will see those things unfold in these times and in these days
Lifting up those things to You, Lord, we pray for a greater and a higher calling
Secrets, let them be known and exposed, Father
Release it, release it, release it!
Yes, we will see it with our own eyes
It is coming, it is coming
Leaping now, jumping now, the church will leap, jump, and praise God
We praise and worship You, Lord
Bless Your name, glory be to God
You are our God and our King
You are holy and You are great
Lifting You up over our homes, over our lives, and our souls today
Jesus, You are high and lifted up

We pray for Your presence fall afresh on us
