Prayer Summary for January 22

Scripture Focus…

(1) “If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. (2) If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, ‘Jump,’ and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. (3-7) If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.”

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

(8–10) “Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled. (11) When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good. (12) We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! (13) But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.”
(1 Cor. 13 The Message)

The following commentary to 1 Corinthians 13:1 is taken from The Revival Study Bible:

1 Corinthians 13:1 Sounding Brass or Clanging Cymbal

Billy Graham said: I can have the gift of an evangelist. I can get up and preach and not be filled with the Spirit. I shall preach without power and my preaching will be as sounding brass and tinkling cymbal…I have asked God, if there were ever a day when I should stand in the pulpit without knowing the fullness and anointing of the Spirit of God and should not preach with compassion and fire, I want God to take me home to heaven. I do not want to live. I do not ever want to stand in the pulpit and preach without the power of the Holy Spirit. It is a dangerous thing.

Prayed…

Father, we take in Your Word today
We remind ourselves that it is Your love and anointing that give us the ability to go through every day
You loved us extravagantly
Help us to be a greater example of You on this earth
We welcome Your presence
You are faithful to be with us every day
Thank You for the changes that have taken place
And we thank You in advance for the things that are still to come
By Your Spirit, we listen to Your voice
You are uncovering the hidden things
We receive a greater revelation of Your love operating in and through us
Lord, we repent for the times we walked in judgment and pride
Help us to contend for more of You
Lord, we worship You and give You all the glory—in it we are changed!
By faith, we enter into the throne room
Old things become new
Adjustments taking place in situations that need change
Lord, You are extravagant
You are bringing people back into their places—strengthened, equipped, and ready!
We receive strength from You today to run steadfastly to the finish
Praying for clear seeing and understanding about the changes that need to take place
Leaning on You alone, Lord
Applying the blood over EVERY military position—every man and woman!
We pray for their eyes and ears to be open
Lifting up every position of law enforcement!
We speak confusion over the enemy’s ways of communication!
Their plans will come to nothing
Praying over the Chaplains—Lord, give them the right words to speak
Pleading the blood for a wall of protection around this nation—every road, waterway, and the sky
Every vehicle and form of transportation is protected!
We pray over Israel and the Jewish people—the apple of Your eye
Pleading the blood over all of the borders and the people, that land shall not be given away!
Every attack of the enemy is intercepted and stopped!
Each leader shall hold fast and never give up on You!
Give them revelation about what they should do—limitations being removed
Praying over the body of Christ!
Covering all of the gifts and supplies in the blood
Every five-fold ministry gift operating in Your fullness
We call resources to be loosed for the body of Christ to advance!
Denominations moving in Your right way
Your Spirit is bringing revelation about who You are!
The hungry and thirsty ones receiving what they need
Pushing out the wall for ministries to step into greater expectation!
Things are being rearranged
Hearing things we have never heard before
Things being manifested right before our eyes
We will not lean on our own understanding
Lord, we pray over the nations for Your Word to be magnified all across the earth
Lifting up the missionaries—let there be such a strong presence of Your glory upon them
Thank You for the three groups: the Church, the Jews, and the Nations
We thank You for safety for the people in Israel!
For the body of Christ to continually rise and shake off complacency and debris
Thank You for moving upon the hearts of the kings and leaders on the earth
Praying over codes, things that need to be lined up!
Father, we love and trust You!
Today, we receive an increase of Your Spirit to overflow with Your love
