Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Heather…
Good morning, everyone. Welcome to morning prayer.
The Prince of Peace…
I was meditating on one of His names being the Prince of Peace. Just think of that. Everything that’s contained in that name: the Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 Amplified Classic…
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called wonderful, counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father of eternity, Prince of Peace.”
John 14:27 Amplified…
Before Jesus went to the cross, He spoke to His disciples in John 14:27. He said, “Peace I leave with you, My own peace I now give and bequeath to you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.”
My peace I leave with you. You think about that as He’s getting ready to go to the cross. That peace that He carried.
He knew He was going to be crucified.
He knew He was going to be mocked.
He knew He was going to be tortured.
But He carried such a peace. That’s the peace that He gives to us! Peace beyond all understanding.
The Passion translation says…
“I leave the gift of peace with you. My peace, not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but My perfect peace. Do not yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts, instead be courageous.”
John 16:33 Amplified Classic…
And then He also says in John 16:33, in the Amplified Classic, “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world, you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration. But be of good cheer, take courage, be confident, certain, undaunted, for I have overcome the world. I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.”
That’s good news.
The Passion translation says…
“In everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in Me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in Me. For in this unbelieving world, you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous for I have conquered the world.”
Philippians 4:6–9 Amplified Classic…
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. 7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. 9 Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.”
Isaiah 53:5 Amplified Classic…
“But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities and the chastisement needful to obtain peace and wellbeing for us was upon Him. And with the stripes that wounded Him, we are healed and made whole.”
Right there we could just walk through our entire life with just those promises that He gave us. That peace that He gives us… He paid a price to give us that peace. So why would we leave it on a table? Why would we leave it on a shelf? Why would we not appropriate and walk in that peace every day?
Prayer of forgiveness…
So, Father, forgive us if we’re not walking in that peace. The peace that you paid a price for, that you’ve given us, that you will never take away.
Prayer of appropriation…
So now we purpose in our hearts, Father, if there’s places where we’ve worried, we’ve become anxious, we’ve become unsettled or disturbed right now, we just recognize those areas of our lives and we appropriate your peace over those situations, your peace over those areas in our hearts and in our minds, because you paid a precious price to purchase that peace for us.
Prayer of receiving…
And so now we receive it.
Prayer of adoration…
You are the Prince of Peace. Nobody can make us whole like you make us whole. No one can bring that peace that surpasses all understanding like you can, not enough money in a savings account, not enough words from a doctor, not enough words from a loved one. You bring that peace! Only you bring it! And every situation must bow to the Prince of Peace, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
Prayer of declaration…
And so now we speak that over every situation, over our families, over our churches, over our communities, over our government, over our nations. You are the Prince—the Prince of Peace. And we recognize your authority. We recognize that wholeness that only you can bring.
Prayer of thanksgiving…
Thank you, Father, for your promises. Thank you for giving us your peace. Peace that cannot be shaken by situations or circumstances. We declare that today over every person—peace beyond understanding, peace that is not shaken, Shalom peace, nothing missing, nothing broken.
Exhortation…
So whatever it is where you’re needing peace in your life, just now surrender that to Him. Surrender it to His hands. He’s faithful. He’s good. He’s big enough to bring peace into every situation beyond our understanding.’
Speaking to the problem…
Peace. Peace. Peace be still. We tell the waves of our soul, the waves of our nation, “Peace be still!”
The Prince of Peace is walking on you now.
The Prince of Peace has authority over you now. Above and not beneath.
Still waters, still waters, still waters. He leads us besides still waters.
He’s a good shepherd.
He prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies.
We are the head and not the tail.
We are above and not beneath.
And He has put all authority and power in our mouths through His name.
So speak, speak, speak, speak, speak, speak over those situations.
