Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
This morning, I was thinking about something I shared over the past weekend. And I thought I would share it again along with something else I think maybe I only touched on a little bit in one of the services. But E.W. Kenyon writes in his book, “In His Presence…” And this is by way of maybe just kind of letting this sink into your heart a little bit more. Maybe you didn’t hear this. But I think he puts words around prayer that are really relevant and super timely for us in this moment in God’s plan and in His plan for our lives individually. In this lies some answers, I think, for maybe some of us. And I don’t know about you, but I still believe the Bible is true when it says that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. This isn’t the Word of God, but this is, I believe, inspired. And so I believe it’ll boost your faith where prayer is concerned. And not only your faith in times like this when we gather as a collective and pray, but also in your personal prayer life.
Through Christ, we have become new creatures…
But don’t get it mixed up. You are not the old person you used to be BC (Before Christ). You’re a new creature in Christ Jesus. My Bible still says the “old has passed away. The new has come.” You’ve been transformed if you’ve invited Him into your life. You’ve been changed into a whole new creature in Christ Jesus. A species that never existed before became possible because Jesus died and rose again from the dead and sent His grace to yours and my way. And when we receive that grace, it transforms us from within and we become new a new species, a child of God, sons of God called by His name.
We have been gifted new features that equip us to succeed in life…
And we find ourselves also according to the writings of Paul gifted some new features and some new things that enable and equip us to succeed in life, to be able to pray effectively, for us to be able to overcome the challenges that maybe we face on a daily basis. And that’s all because we’re now in Him; we’re in Christ.
And in Him, we have the victory.
In Him, today is going to be a really good day.
In Him, as we shift over into some more prayer, we’re going to pray effectively.
In Him, we will be able to pray through or at least pray to the next level what God has for us to pray about because He comes to equip us supernaturally to pray out of His heart.
How can we do that?
The Holy Spirit’s on the inside of us. And He gives us the words and the expression and the unction or anointing to pray out in our understanding and in our prayer language according to the will of God. And so I just want to encourage you today that you’ve got what it takes to go another day. This is the day the Lord hath made. We can rejoice and be glad in it because we are in Him and we can move in Him today. We can have our being in Him today.
God is granting fresh strategies…
I believe He’s breathing wisdom on you today. He’s granting fresh strategies for that situation with your family or that prayer assignment He wants you to pray about. He’s going to give you further insight and wisdom. And He’s going to bring some things across your path today that if you’ll pay attention will help you to see, “Okay, that’s what I need to pray about,” or “That’s the direction I need to go.”
Everything we set our hands to will prosper…
We are not just random biological entities that have been by happenstance showed up on the earth at this time. No. We are God men and God women endowed with the very Spirit of God, which is part of the Godhead inside of us. Therefore, we can succeed. And we will succeed today as God defines it! We will prosper in everything we set our hands to. I don’t know about you, but I say that often: “Everything I set my hands to in the spirit, in the natural, in every arena of my life, we’ll prosper today.”
“Well, Ken, what if it doesn’t? What if you have a setback today?
I’ll still say it. I learned through the years that I attack the facts of my situation with the truth of the Word of God until the facts and the circumstances of the situation, whether it’s in my life or in our nation, begin to line up with the truth of God’s Word. Because God’s Word really is His reality. From His standpoint and His perspective, that’s how He sees you—in Christ. More than a conquer through Him who loved you. He sees you as high and lifted up, seated jointly with Jesus in the spirit realm.
And so I’m saying this to say, hey, when we come to a place of prayer, we’re not praying for something. No. Jesus already obtained something great, something enormous, something that it’s going to take an eternity for us to unpack. It’s so big. It’s so great. Our redemption and what’s been provided for us in Him.
So inform yourself of your new self…
That you are not here trying to obtain something for yourself. You are praying from something today. We’re praying from a place in Christ with an equal position and possession. In other words, what Jesus is—hint, hint—that’s what you are in Him. Nothing can stop you. Nothing can derail you. It can temporarily, but you can be right back on track today.
We must content with His Word, fight with the Word…
So prayer is a matter of staying in there, not relenting. You might have a setback. Today might not go exactly the way you had planned, but you can still determine the outlook and attitude of your heart, and you can continue to declare by faith the way it’s going to go. Even if it doesn’t in the moment, in a day, in a week, change according to what you can see. But in time, I guarantee the facts of your situation will begin to align and synchronize with the reality or truth of God’s Word. If you contend with His Word. We fight with the Word.
It’s already guaranteed—you’ve won!
Last time I checked, Ephesians says we have certain implements to fight a good fight and ultimately win every time. And those one of those implements is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. So pull out that last word you read or the last word that God spoke to you. Pull it out of its sheath and start swinging it and fight a good fight. The fight is good because if you’ll do what the Bible prescribes and walk and journey by faith, guess what? It’s already guaranteed—you’ve won!
It’s rigged in your favor.
That’s why we can say boldly in the face of contrary circumstances or feelings or a contrary outlook according to the world, we can say “No. This too will change.” And it will align with what God has said in His Word.
I shall be whole from my head to my toe.
I will live out the full length of my appointed days.
I will do all of the will and works of God that He has ordained for me to do according to my book of destiny.
As for me and my household, we will all be saved and serve the Lord.
Everything, once again, we set our hands to will prosper and succeed.
America is in a turnaround…
As far as America is concerned, we are presently in a turnaround. Things are turning in the direction of God’s intention for this nation. For God’s got a great plan and He will fulfill His great plan in this nation, through this nation, and around the world as we respond to Him, as America responds to God. Even if it’s a remnant. But it’ll be a lot more than that.
So EW Kenyon writes in his book, “In His Presence”
“Some have said that prayer is the greatest opportunity ever afforded to a man or a woman in Christ. If this is true, then you can understand why there would be enemies to stand in the way of the prayer life. You can understand why the adversary would make it his business to see that the prayer life of an individual and the prayer life of a church should be ineffective or why he would attack it.”
Satan would not be a good strategist or general, which you got to know, he’s a defeated foe ultimately. But he is an organizer of sorts. He does have ranks and file so to speak of demonic entities or dominions. And he endeavors to organize to attack the church. So he does operate in that way.
But he goes on to say…
“A church is as powerful as its prayer life. The men and women who learn the secret of reaching the throne of God [or reaching and getting the ear of God, I should say] become dangerous to the host of darkness. To disobey the prayer call is to disobey the call of the Father. The prayer responsibility today is the most important thing of our lives.”
There are men and women who are being defeated and breaking down in their business, in their homes, in their spiritual lives because we haven’t prayed for them. We’ve been too preoccupied with our own pleasures, our own dreams. And men and women are staggering under the burdens we should help them to carry. The Bible says we should pray always. It also says we should pray for one another. There’s power in agreement. We can lift people up in prayer.
It goes on to say…
“Prayer should be as unconscious as our communication with each other. It should not be simply the child of need but should be based on a spiritual fellowship with the Father. Our needs are not our own in fellowship with Him. Our needs become His needs, for we are not our own. We are part of Him.”
The secret to the Christian life is in the secret place…
That’s why I’ve often said the secret to the Christian life is in the secret place. The other thing I wanted to share has to do with the Great Awakening in the early part of the 19th century. A man by the name of Charles Finney was a key figure in leading and spark plugging the Second Great Awakening. There was a First Great Awakening in the 18th century, and then in the 19 hundreds, there was a Second Great Awakening, which began about 1820 something.
And at this time, a man by the name of Charles Finney, who was a lawyer, left his law practice because he was just desperate for more of God. And there were a number of others. And I was just thinking, I suppose that’s why D.L. Moody once said that every move of God, every outstanding work of God in America or at any point in time in history can be traced back to a kneeling figure or kneeling figures.
And at this time at the Second Great Awakening… and I’m highlighting this for a moment because we’re believing for a Third Great Awakening. Yes, we’re grateful for change in our government. We’re grateful for Christians becoming more activated and mobilized in the political arena and leadership and paying attention and doing what they can do practically and naturally. But ultimately, what’s going to solve our nation’s problems and problems around the world is going to be a move of God that only heaven can bring, that only heaven can accomplish.
We must “ask that you may receive”
But our part in it is to call for it, to ask for it. Jesus said, “Ask that you may receive.” That applies not only to a new pair of shoes if you need them, or a wholesale revival or awakening. Heaven waits for earth to invite it. That’s how God set it up. That’s why John Wesley said, “It seems that God can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him.” James 4:2 says, “You have not because you asked not.”
So ask!
Even in the natural sense today, ask! God’s not nervous you’re going to ask too big. There’s no concern among the angels in the heavenly arena that if you ask too big, the power grid in heaven’s going to be compromised or lights are going to flicker on the street corners in the heavenly realm, or there’s not going to be enough gold to lay down on the streets or whatever.
No. I mean, heaven is way more abundant than we even can comprehend. Our minds aren’t able to comprehend the abundance, the power, the might, the glory of God in His heavenly realm. The glory of God in all of creation, we have no idea.
So ask! God is double-dog daring us, I believe in this hour. Saying…
Church, I need you to ask.
I need you to contend.
I need you to intercede.
I need you to petition.
If it’s in the Word, start there. If it’s in the Word, understand the Word of God is material for petitioning, material for praying. So pray the Word!
