Good morning, everyone. Good afternoon, good evening, good morning, whatever the case might be for you. Welcome. My name is Ken Olson and I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word. Good to have you with us whether you’re in the chapel or online.
The enemy is freaking out…
There are many events transpiring around the world and right here in Minnesota, right? Constantly, every day, there’s just a lot of craziness and a lot of change, maybe transition… upheaval. Really, it’s probably the enemy freaking out over the fact that he’s realizing, he’s lost. And he’s doing everything he can as a last-ditch effort to stop things. But we are here as the church to impede his progress and push back darkness, in fact. We are God’s plan as the church and as individual followers of Jesus, as those coming together to pray, to push back darkness. 2026 is to be a year of forward progress, momentum, the further establishment of God’s plans.
God is not done shaking things…
And another thing that’s in my heart this morning is the fact that God is not through shaking things. He is not completed where shaking is concerned. We’ve been praying about it. It’s been prophesied about…
A shaking in nations
A shaking in governments
A shaking in many different ways.
And a lot of that has to do, I believe, including with what’s going on in Venezuela and Iran and a number of places around the world with strategically aligning nations. For what reason, you might ask.
God has souls on His mind…
Well, firstly, I can think of and know that God has on His mind is souls. There are still some 2 billion people around the world that have yet to hear the Gospel and profess faith in Jesus. That includes some 5,000 people groups. Completely unreached people groups yet to hear the invitation of salvation. And so there’s much to be done. And God, as it states in His Word, is unwilling to go without a big family, unwilling to see anyone perish and spend an eternity in hell, apart from Him. He wants all, in other words, to come unto the free gift of salvation.
Our prayers need to be intelligent and strategic now…
And so our prayers are significant, consequential now. Our prayers should be intelligent and strategic. And I believe that that’s going to be the case this morning. We’re going to continue to shift things. We’re going to continue to fuel and refuel the purposes of God, that purpose that He has for America, for the earth, for the church, for you and me would not stall, but instead, would accelerate and be amply supplied with the glory and the power and the wisdom and whatever else is needed of God to be fulfilled. Because God is intent on bringing to a flourishing finish what He started long ago. Not only in your heart and in my heart, but in the Church at Living Word, in your church where you attend. That’s His desire. In America, for that matter.
We’re living in a Haggai 2 “moment of time…”
In Haggai 2:6, I believe we’re in a Haggai 2 moment of time in God’s timetable of events. It says, “For thus, says the Lord of hosts, once more, I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land. And I will shake all nations. They shall come to the desire of all nations.” What’s that desire? We believe that the ultimate desire is Jesus. Salvation! “And I will fill this temple with glory, says the Lord of hosts.”
Now I’m going to jump over to the New Testament to Hebrews 12:26–28. It states “Whose voice then shook the earth, but now He has promise saying, yet, once more, I will shake not only the earth, but also heaven. Now, this yet once more indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.”
Verse 28 says…
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear for our God is a consuming fire.”
So we are here to establish, to prosper, to participate in the establishment and creation of God’s kingdom. In hearts, in lives, and in the earth realm while time remains. Because that’s the kingdom that cannot be shaken.
We’re in a “final pushback on the enemy…”
Let me read one other thing to you that kind of occurs to me that might be relevant to maybe all of us in some way, because we’re in the midst of a shaking, because we’re in the midst of an emerging revival and awakening, and I like to say, “a final pushback on the enemy” in this time. So that God can get His way. It’s definitely an hour, because of that is unique and unprecedented.
We’ve not come this way before…
A prophet once said, “We’ve not come this way before.” A prophet recently said that. And it’s true. We’ve not come this way before. This prophetic word came forth and I thought it was relevant for this time. Maybe this will encourage you. Maybe this will speak to you because 2026 will bring more unprecedentedness. 2026 will bring more things that we’ve not seen up until this point…
More shaking,
More alignment of nations
More upheaval
More change
More transition
More unknowns
Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled…”
But as we see in the scripture time and time again, we don’t have to fear. Jesus Himself reminded His disciples and those that listen to Him, “Let not your heart be troubled.” So just let that stir in your consciousness and your heart today. It’s okay if things seem to be off the rails in some ways in your life. That might be a good sign. Or what’s going on in our city, that might be a good sign. That might be revealing that the enemy is in his death throes because he’s losing his hold in our city. He’s losing his hold in your life and your heart and your family. And all he’s got is to try to stir up chaos. All he can do is try to distract and discourage.
But we as God’s people are called to look away from all that distracts unto Jesus the author, the continuer, and the ultimate fulfiller or finisher of our faith. Because, we recognize this as an all-eyes-on-Jesus hour and keep our focus on Him. As pastor alluded to yesterday in the series that he is in, which has to do with the mind. We need to keep our focus on Him, not the sideshows to the right or to the left.
As pray-ers, of course, we want to be intelligent. We want to be informed as to what we can be informed regarding what’s going on around the world, what’s going on in our nation. But ultimately, our sights are on Him.
Colossians 3:2 reminds us…
“to set our minds and keep them set on things above, not on the things that are happening in this earth realm.” Certainly, you can be informed and be intelligent about what’s going on in the earth realm. But ultimately our orders come from Him. Yours and my need daily is to desperately hear His voice to us, to hear His voice.
This is the way, walk in it…
The Bible says it prophesizes in the Old Testament that as New Testament people, we would hear a voice behind us saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” And so our priority today is to hear His voice and to know that regardless of what is stirring around us, God is going to get His way because we stand with Him. We agree with Him. We are strategically and intentionally and consistently engaging our faith. And the first way you engage your faith is by fixing your focus on His promises and what He’s saying to you personally in a rhema way.
A prophecy came forth recently…
And so this prophetic word came forth recently and I thought it was super relevant regarding this moment in time, this unprecedented hour, where there was a lot of upheaval and a lot of shaking. And while the enemy may be at the root of some of it, it may not all be bad because it just might be God at work to realign, to shake, to remove, to transform, to redeem, to wake up the church, to wake up nations, to position nations in such a way that they could experience the mercy and grace of God out ahead of His Second Return.
And so this prophetic word says…
“For those seeking the Lord for new direction, He would say to you, don’t be afraid. I’m hearing your prayers. I am with you and I’m going to show you what to do. And the Lord would say, you have never been this way before. I have already seen this way, says the Lord. And if you learn to hear My voice every day, you will know what to do. You will know what to do with your finances and you will know how to prepare for your future. The Lord says, I’ll show you how to be prepared for your future. I would not leave you comfortless, says the Lord. I am going to show you how to go down this new path, even though you have never been this way before.”
Isn’t that good?
Prayed…
Father, we thank you this morning that we are so privileged to live in such a time as this.
We’re so grateful this morning, Lord, that you are with us.
You’re for us and not against us.
You have sent your great and mighty Holy Spirit to inhabit our very being.
Today Lord, regardless of what’s swirling around us, what’s out of our control, what didn’t seemingly work out from our intellectual standpoint, we know, Lord…
That you are with us
That you are at work
And that you are working all things out according to your design and plan.
