Prayer Summary for August 30

Scripture Focus…

(10) “For he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own. (11) Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].”
(Heb. 4:10–11 Amp.)

Faith’s Alternates

The book of Daniel introduces us to three men – Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah…The decree of Nebuchadnezzar, the dictator, that all men must bow to his image or burn in his fire brought these three men into prominence. Because they would not comply with the command, they were brought into a dramatic confrontation with the powerful monarch. Though threatened with a horrible death, the three heroes refused to consider the fire as a factor in the case. Instead they turned to look to God and their spiritual resources.

The stark, cold-blooded courage of Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah as they face the frothing fury of Nebuchadnezzar has always been a puzzle to the world. But it should not be to the Christian who grasps the reality of the spring of spiritual resource found in the Word of God. With their backs to the wall, Daniel’s three friends calmly gave their testimony of faith in two strong positives and an alternate: “Our God…is able to deliver us…and he will deliver us…But if not…we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou has set up” (Daniel 3:17-18, KJV).

Pastor Wang Ming-tao of Peking asked for no cushion when he was put under pressure to compromise. This was his testimony:

As I obey the Lord whom I have served and as I keep the truth which I have believed, I will not obey any man’s command that goes against the will of God. I have prepared myself to pay any price and make any sacrifice, but I will not change the decision I have made.

Prayed…

Father, we are looking for Your Spirit to carry us through
It is not by might, not by power, but by Your Spirit!
We are looking for that great change in the Church
The spirit of faith to take hold in a new and fresh way!
We will not bow or bend to other gods!
Your Word is sure inside of us!
We don’t trust in no one but You—the one TRUE God!
Lord, we draw nearer to You!
It is all about Your glory and honor
We put You on display!
Move and speak through us—we are Your hands and feet!
Work through us, Lord!
Thank You for Your faithfulness to Your children
We lay all of our cares and anxieties on You
You healed our bodies and we receive and walk in that healing
Praying the spirit of faith over the body of Christ
Taking authority over the spirit of complacency and religion that has tried to creep its way into the Church
You have loved us unconditionally!
Seeing the Church rise up to the place that You have predestined for her to be in!
We purpose to trust in Your unfailing love!
Lord, we pray for situations that need change
You know how to bring that about
Calling things in line in Jesus’ name!
We bring You on the scene
Lord, we love how You bring and lift us up higher into a place of rest in You
Father, we recognize and acknowledge that You deserve ALL glory and honor
Thank You that You have blessed us to be a blessing!
We believe Your favor goes before us today!
