Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Heather…
Thanks for coming to morning prayer. My name is Heather Sibinski. I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word.
John 1:1, Amplified Classic…
I wanted to read today John 1:1 from the Amplified Classis. It’s one of my favorites.
“In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. 2 He was present originally with God. 3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. 4 In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. 5 And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].”
Just a reminder: darkness has to flee…
As days and world grows darker… It did say that the world would get darker, right? But we get brighter. And the analogy that I always love to tell people when there’s this fear of darkness or fear of what the enemy is doing is just a reminder, when you go into a room and you turn on a light, is there a struggle between light and darkness?
Absolutely not!
You turn on that light and darkness has to flee. It doesn’t have a choice. It has to flee. It’s not this wrestling match between light and darkness and, “Oh, we’ll see if the light happens.” No! It instantly has to flee because God is light.
The sun still shines above the clouds…
Another thing I like to think about is if you’ve ever been in an airplane and if it’s stormy and dark down on the ground. But what happens when you get up above those clouds? The sun is still shining. So just like in our lives, His light is always there. And if we’re seated with Him in heavenly places, the sun is always shining.
We’re not down under the clouds.
We’re not down under the darkness.
We don’t have to fear darkness—we have authority over it…
Yes, we are in this world, but we’re not of this world. And if we’re seated with Him in heavenly places, He’s given us authority over that darkness. So we don’t have to fear it. We have authority over it. We speak to it. And as we pray, we again are just taking back those boundaries, pushing back darkness with those prayers and that authority that He’s given us.
We are to watch and pray…
So we don’t have to walk around in fear. We do have to watch and pray. He did tell us to watch and pray, so it’s good to be aware of what the enemy is doing. But we don’t have to be afraid of what the enemy is doing. And though we might be surprised by what the enemy is doing or by what people around us are doing, God is not surprised. He’s already given us all authority and all power, right?
The enemy has no new tricks…
So there’s no… I like how people say the Devil is not creative. He’s not the Creator. He just takes things and twists them. So there’s no new trick, really. It’s just the enemy trying different tricks. But it’s the same idea that he always has. It’s just taking something that God has made and twisting it, and that’s what the word wicked is. Think of like a wick on a candle. It’s twisted, right? And so the enemy will take what God has created and twist it, and that’s how he operates. But God is the creator. And everything He creates is good. He’s the Father of all lights. He’s given us all power and all authority.
God has given us all authority to fight the fiery darts…
And so this morning, I just want to remind everybody of that. I know there’s been a lot of attacks happening lately, and even in the body of Christ. And I know just even in my own life, I’ve seen family members struggling with things and health things. And so the enemy is trying to throw out his fiery darts because he knows his time is short. But God has given us the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, all the armor. He’s given us all authority in all things.
There’s no need to fear because we know how the story ends…
And so just a friendly reminder… I’m reminding myself too. That we know how the story ends. We know who wins. We know who wins the battle, right? But sometimes when we’re in the battle, we can get weary in well-doing. But what does the Bible say? Do not get weary in well-doing. But that our strength would be refreshed and renewed like that of an eagle’s and we’ll mount up.
Light always wins because light is greater…
So we just have to keep our eyes on Him and know that He’s already won the battle. He’s already equipped us and given us everything we need to walk with Him, to be His hands and feet and mouthpiece on the earth. And so today I just wanted to remind myself, remind you that there is no battle between light and darkness. Light always wins. Light is greater. The enemy’s trying to come in where he “may,” it says, “seeking whom he may devour.” And so this morning we are going to rebuke some things and tell him…
He may not devour our families.
He may not devour this church.
He may not devour our community, our states, our nation.
Wherever you are, take your authority…
And you take authority where you are. If you’re watching online and you live in another country, you have authority there. You speak over your country, your community, your nation. We will always be speaking mostly over our nations and our states and churches here. We’ll continue to pray out, but you pray over where you have been given dominion. And that’s where God put you.
The purpose of magnifying the Lord…
All right. Well, I think it’s always good to start by just exhorting Him. It says, “Come into His gates with thanksgiving and praise.” So we’ll start with that. And that magnifying, that does a lot of things, not just for God, obviously. I mean, He’s pretty secure in who He is. It’s really for us. So when we magnify Him and we make Him big, when we focus on Him, the things of the world grow dim. And it’s like we are getting our glasses on to have that correct perspective. Because sometimes as we walk through the world, things can feel big, things can feel heavy. So we get ourselves back up there, seated with Him in heavenly places by magnifying Him, by putting Him back on the throne of our hearts, the throne of our lives, the throne of this church, the throne of this state, the throne of our families. We place Him first.
And as we do that, all those things that are trying to distract us, to pull us down, to weigh on us, they grow dim because we realize in light of who God is, those things are very small and minor, and they’ve already been conquered.
Praise…
Well, Father, we magnify you now. We set our hearts on you. We take time now to just quiet our minds, quiet our thoughts. We lay aside every distraction, and we focus on you now.
We focus on you, Father. This is your time. We’re not making our grocery lists, we’re not chatting. We’re focusing on you.
We thank you that we can come boldly to your throne. That any time we want to spend time with you, you’re always there, you’re always waiting and welcoming us with open arms, and so now we come to you, Father.
Prayed…
Your lamp is on our feet, so we know where we’re going.
You are a light and a lamp unto our feet.
We don’t walk in darkness. We walk in light.
You direct our steps. We don’t falter or step to the left or to the right.
We step the way you want us to go, Father.
We have wisdom. We have insight.
We have the power of the Holy Spirit to show us where to go, to show us how to pray.
And when we don’t know how to pray, you show us how to pray.
We just have to yield and obey.
We’re not alone. We’re never alone. We’re never without help.
Word came forth…
Somebody needs to hear that today. You’re not alone. He knows the very numbers of the hairs on your head, so surely He knows what you’re walking through right now. And He’s already made a way. But you trust now. Trust and obey. He’ll show you the way. There’s always a way of escape. You’re not stuck. You’re not overwhelmed. Because when the Devil comes in like a flood, God will raise a standard.
No weapon formed against us shall prosper. No weapon will prosper. Yeah, you’re foiling the plans of men, the plans of the enemy. For your plan will be done. Yeah, so we cooperate now. At the move of the Spirit, we cooperate. We choose to walk in the supernatural, in the spiritual realm.
He says to come up higher…
Come up higher, I hear Him say. Come up higher. Come see the view that I have. Yeah, that’s temporary. Come up higher now. Seated. We’re seated with you in heavenly places.
He says to watch what He’ll do next…
“Watch what I’ll do next,” I hear Him say. “Watch what I’ll do next.” And no power of hell can withstand Him. No principality, no power, no darkness can withstand Him, and nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing, nothing, nothing, no one, not angels, not darkness, no principality, no power, no demon from hell can separate us from the love of Christ.
Because He lavishes it. He lavishes it more than enough, pouring out.
So just receive that now. You’re more than enough for any trouble. Anything that we might encounter, you’ve already conquered it. For your Creator is with you.
Oh, we thank You, Jesus. You’ve given us everything to walk with You in godliness. Yes, every living thing will shout your praises. Every knee shall bow.
He’s given us all authority and all power. We are not powerless.
That power and that authority was paid for with a precious price. With the blood of Jesus.
Yeah, so use that power. Use that authority.
It cost Him His life to purchase that for you.
He gave you the keys.
Yeah, so get out of that jail cell. Get out of that prison.
Use those keys. Use those words. Use that authority.
Speak to your storm.
Don’t fear your storm. Don’t worry about your storm.
Don’t just watch your storm. Speak to it. Speak to your mountains.
What’s that mountain that’s in front of you now? When you believe in your heart, it shall be cast into the sea.
But you must believe. You must believe that He’s good enough, He’s big enough, He’s strong enough to do it.
The enemy is defeated. He’s under our feet.
Yeah, he might be a roaring lion, but he’s just seeking who he may devour.
And we say you may not.
You may not devour us.
You may not devour our homes.
You may not devour our bodies.
You may not devour our finances.
You may not devour this church.
You may not devour this community.
You may not devour our nation.
No, no, no, no, no. We tell you no.
We say as for us and our houses, we will worship the Lord.
We are possessed with the Holy Spirit.
There’s no room for other spirits.
There’s no room for darkness, for we are filled with the light.
So we thank you, Jesus. You shine your light.
