Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Worship leader Mel…
Good morning, everybody. How’s everyone doing? Welcome to Morning Prayer.
We’re going to jump into worship and then flow in the river as per usual. So let’s just take a moment, close our eyes and just focus the eyes of our hearts on Jesus this morning, just our attention on Him, the one who’s worthy.
We just thank you, Lord, for giving us fresh manna this morning. Fresh words from the Father that touch our hearts, that feed us, that nourish us, that provides everything that we need today.
We just thank you, Father, for the increase that you have for us.
We thank you, Lord, for the fullness, the overflowing cups that you have for us. We say that’s our portion, that’s our reward for loving and knowing Jesus is the overflow. And, Lord, we just say this morning that…
We want to run and not grow weary.
We want to walk and not faint.
We want to live from the overflow today.
Whatever that looks like for us in our workplaces and our lives and our families, to just get so filled up this morning that we can pour out to those that are hungry, that we can give to those that are thirsty for Jesus and know that we aren’t giving from lack, but that we’re giving from fullness.
Worship leader Noah…
I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from my fears.
Those who looked to the Lord are radiant and their faces are not ashamed.
This poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him.
Fear the Lord.
There is no want to those who fear Him.
The young lions they lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall lack no good thing.
We seek you, Lord, we trust you. We know you’re listening. We know you’re near.
Word of knowledge…
I just feel this on my heart. The Lord knows what you’re facing right now. He knows what’s causing you stress. He knows what’s weighing on your heart right now in this room as we’re worshiping and seeking Him. And I feel like He’s just telling us, “Just lay that down to Me. Lay that down to Me right now.” He knows exactly what that is too. Just give it to Him. Now’s the time. Here’s the place.
Worship leader Mel…
As we’re worshiping this morning, I am just reminded of the scripture verse that talks about how Jesus at the Last Supper washed the feet of the disciples and they were so confused. They’re like, “Oh, we should be washing your feet. Like, what are you doing?”
His identity was in the Father…
And I hear the Lord remind us that the only way that He could do that in full confidence is because He knew who He was. He knew His identity. And so it wasn’t beneath Him to wash the feet of His friends, even His enemies, because His identity wasn’t in what He did. But His identity was in who the Father said that He was, that He is.
And so He could fully fulfill His calling on this earth because He trusted that no matter what happened, He belonged to the Father. He was the Son. And He knew where He was from. He knew where He was going. And He wasn’t intimidated by men, as we can see in the gospels. He really was not intimidated by anything anybody said. In fact, He often rocked the boat to prove a point.
And so today I feel like Pastor Heather… hopefully this is okay. But if you’re struggling with your identity, and we all have seasons where we do. It’s kind of like a rollercoaster sometimes. We feel good some seasons and then life hits and we start to question. We’re like, “Oh gosh, who am I?” And often we go straight to “What am I supposed to do?”
I know I do. And I feel the Lord saying for those of you today that are finding yourselves going, “Okay, I have to do something to get myself back on track or to feel like myself again.” I just want to pray over you and ask the Lord to remind you who you are again this morning. So that you can have the confidence to just be and to be able to sing what we’re singing this morning to say, “I’m yours. I’m yours. I’m yours.” And that be enough.
What does it mean to belong to the Lord…
Because that is very offensive to our flesh and to our minds. And we’re going to sing that again in just a second. But if that’s you, I just want you to receive this and to ask the Lord in your own words and say, “Father, come and remind me who I am and whose I am this morning. Remind me that I belong to you and give me a revelation of what does that actually mean to belong to the King of Kings, to belong to Jesus, to not be an orphan anymore, to not have to strive for attention or strive for love. Remind me again this morning. What does it mean to belong to God?
And, Lord, I just thank you that you give grace to the humble. And so we humble ourselves. Come and give us a revelation of sonship, of daughtership. Come give us another revelation of dwelling in the house of the Lord in our Father’s house, where there’s no shame or condemnation or striving for attention or affection.
Lord, come and show us our identity, who we truly are in the inside, who we’ve been created to be. Before we do anything, before we accomplish anything.
Prayer against every lie of the enemy…
And I just pray against every orphan spirit, every lie of the enemy that would try to deceive us into thinking that we have to earn your love. I come against every spirit that would try to lie to the sons and daughters, that would sow seeds of distrust of the Father. I come against that in Jesus’ name. I break your power over the minds of the sons and the daughters. And I speak life to your hearts. I speak life to your mind. And we speak the truth over you, that being loved by God is enough. He’s pleased with you.
Pastor Heather…
For He has chosen us. We didn’t choose Him. He chose us. And He loved us first. So why do we think we can earn that? Why do we think we have to perform to receive that when it was already freely given? Long before we were created in our mother’s womb, we were chosen.
So today we say thank you that you chose us. Thank you that you loved us first. We are your children. We are your bride. You love us with an everlasting love. Your banner over us is love. You speak identity and purpose over us. You know the plans that you have for us. They’re plans of good and not evil. All of these things you’ve spoken over us—destinies, callings, purposes in this room and those watching online. You’ve carved out long before you carved out the earth, the stars, the sun, and the moon. And you made us eternal beings.
We put our eyes on the Father…
And so this time on earth is but a vapor. And so we put our eyes back on you, Father. We take our eyes off of ourselves, off of our shortcomings, off of our trials. And we put our eyes back on you. For you are the King of Kings. You are the Lord of Lords. You are the great I am, the alpha, the omega, the beginning, the end.
His ways are higher…
You always have a plan. Your ways are higher than our ways. Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts. You are always good. There’s no shadow of turning in you. You’re so beautiful.
Just give us a glimpse of your beauty today, Father, that we get our eyes off of ourselves, off of the world, off of our day, the things that we’re walking through. We put our eyes back on you because you’re so beautiful and your plans stretch far throughout eternity, far more than this fleeting discomfort that we have.
We were created for so much more. So much more than we’re walking through right now. So we remind our souls today, “Why are you cast down, oh my soul?” I will see the goodness of God in the land of the living. And so we declare that today. We declare your goodness, Father…
Your goodness over our lives.
Your goodness over our families.
Your goodness over our church.
Your goodness over our community.
Your goodness over our nation.
Your goodness over this earth.
We declare it. You are still on the throne. You are still high and lifted up.
We refuse to believe anything less than that.
We refuse to let our souls be troubled.
We refuse to be anxious.
We refuse to be in fear.
We refuse to worry about tomorrow because we know that we are in the hands of an everlasting God who planned out every day before any of our days began.
And so today we say, we trust you, Father.
We trust your goodness.
We trust your power.
We trust your love.
We trust that we are in your hands.
You will never drop us. Never, never, never. And so we remind our souls today to rejoice that the joy of the Lord is our strength. For many promises have been spoken over us, and your Word is filled and packed with promises for us.
So though the enemy might walk around seeking whom he “may” devour, we say he “may not!”
Because we are protected.
We are loved.
We are empowered by a holy everlasting God.
God, the leader of angel armies fights for us.
The commander fights for us.
He’s on our side.
We are not alone, and we will never be alone.
And so we remind ourselves today, we remind ourselves of your goodness, of your bigness. It’s so much bigger than this day. It’s so much bigger than this moment. Oh, have your way. Have your way. We say all eyes are on you, Father. All eyes are on you now. We lift our heads. You are the lifter of our heads. Oh, and you’re so worthy… worthy of all honor and glory and worship. There is no one like you, and nothing can stop you, for your plans will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Let your kingdom come.
Reigning and ruling… ruling in heavenly playing… principalities and powers must bow to the name above all names. Oh, He’s high and lifted up… Consume us. All-consuming fire. Consume those things that are distracting us, burning up like chaff today.
