Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Good morning, everyone. Happy Monday. Good to see you all here in the chapel.
It is my honor to help facilitate morning prayer. So if you don’t already know, my name is Ken Olson and I’m one of the pastors on staff here at Living Word.
Set your sails in prayer…
I’d like to share something with you real quick. We used to have a saying around here, that says, “Set your sails in prayer.” It’s time to set our sails in prayer. Many years ago, the old-time sailing ships had just that—they had sails and they had to set them a certain angle to catch the winds so that they were most efficiently propelled through the waters. Well, how many of you know that we have sails in the spirit and that the wind of the Holy Spirit is blowing? And He desires to propel us and take us in a particular direction. So it’s important that we set our sails in the spirit.
Know that God is moving. The wind of His Spirit is blowing. And He desires to take us somewhere today, during this time collectively and individually.
Prophetic word by Kenneth Hagin about prayer…
I want to read something that I have read before, but I think it bears repeating to set ourselves in prayer. It’s a prophecy that was given many years ago by the Reverend Kenneth Hagin. And he prophesied regarding prayer. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he said…
“Now you are zealous of spiritual things and you’re to be commended for that.” In other words, that’s a good thing. “For as much as you are zealous to desire to be used of God, yes, you’re zealous…” Even sense the call of God on your life and the call of ministry. But remember this: that your ministry, you could say your calling, your life, your business, your endeavor, will never be powerful. Speaking from a human standpoint, it’ll never get off the ground unless it’s backed up with prayer. So build your prayer life first. Build your prayer life upon the Word. Build your prayer life. Wait upon Me, the Spirit of God would say, and you’ll renew your strength.”
In other words, what I just said earlier, “Set your sails in prayer.”
“Yes, you’ll run, you’ll not be weary, you’ll walk and you’ll not faint.” I perceive that’s a good word for some of us on a Monday morning. God’s going to help us. He’s going to give us what we need this week, in this season that concerns the body of Christ.
“Yes, only a ministry that’s built upon prayer will be effective in these last days.” Mic drop! We can go home on that right there. Right? “Only a ministry, only a life, only a calling, only a household, only a business builds upon prayer will be effective in these last days.”
We’ve stepped over the threshold into a new season…
We’re hearing from different places that we have stepped over the threshold into a new season and into a new time. Without a doubt! Things are shifting. Things have been transitioning. It is a new season. It’s no longer God is warning us and giving us wisdom. It’s not the time to conduct the affairs of our lives or to do church as usual.
I’m sure difficult and challenging days are ahead, but be reminded that Jesus has overcome every form of adversity and He empowers us to overcome in the same way. But we need to pray. We need to be yielded. We need to be surrendered to Him because prayer transmits or, really, transitions your pressure, your difficulties, your inabilities, your weakness, it transitions it to Him so that He can carry that.
So just be reminded of that today…
That there is a need for us to follow God the Holy Spirit in prayer. And in the Word, of course… in this hour to live moment by moment prompted and guided by Him, not following a past methodology or way of living or way of doing things or way of approaching our problems or even a way of prayer.
But understand God has deposited the God kind and God quality of faith on the inside of us so that we would trust Him and live our lives by that faith. God won’t ask you to do something you can do on your own or in your own ability… and that includes prayer.
God demands that we as His people live and move and have our being by faith, by a confidence and a reliance and a trust upon Him… in Him!
Prayer says “yes” to Him…
And prayer, in a way, says no to our ability and our understanding and our initiative. It says “no” to that. And “yes” to Him. It is how we connect with that divine flow that has been assigned for your life.
God has put in place within you a divine flow…
How many of you know God has prepared and put in place a divine flow—heaven’s flow for your life and for my life, that we would be propelled by that flow, that we would be protected by that flow, that we would be provisioned and provided for by that flow in this hour.
And there’s just something about prayer that allows us to set our sails and be carried along by that God-ordained flow for your life, so that we would not end up in some far-off place remote from the plan of God.
God wants us to have His strategy…
Now is the time that God is wanting to synchronize our lives with His heart and His will and His way. So that each and every day, we would have…
A strategy to live
A strategy to pray
A strategy to solve problems
A strategy to know what to say in any given situation.
We are called to be a supernatural church…
We are called to be a supernatural church. A church that supersedes the natural, doesn’t live in the natural. Yes, we are natural beings. We live in this world. You have a belly button, and that’s a good thing, as I often say. Because that means you’re a real, bona fide human being. And that means you qualify for the fullness of His redemptive work. That means as well, that you have the right to the use of the name of Jesus and to exercise spiritual authority and to rule and to reign in your life by one Jesus Christ.
Understand that while we are weak in ourselves, we are strong in Him. We are equipped and well abled and arrayed with armaments and giftings and privileges as daughters and sons of the most high God.
We don’t go by our feelings…
Aren’t you glad that you don’t have to go based on how you feel right now? That instead, I can go based on His Word. That’s what faith is. “Lord, I choose to go by what your Word says, and your Word says that I’m strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Your Word says I have the right to the use of the name of Jesus and at the name of Jesus, every knee bows not just on the earth, but above the earth and beneath the earth.”
Darkness is on the move…
But we’re seeing some things that come from beneath the earth in this hour. They’re showing up on the scene. We shouldn’t be surprised by that. Darkness is on the move. But we need not fear or fret or be troubled. We’re reminded of that time and time again in the scriptures from cover to cover. Why? Because we stand on God’s side of things. We are a part. We’ve been adopted, in fact, into His very own family. We have been endowed once again with His name. You’ve been crowned with the privileges of Jesus because that’s the whole beauty of redemption is that it wasn’t for Him. He was already Lord of Lords. He was already the bright and morning star. He was already the one who was and is and is to come.
But we are to rule and reign in Christ…
But He came to do what He did and to pay the price He paid that we might be endowed, arrayed, gifted, equipped with the fullness that He possesses! We’re in Christ… as He is so are we in this world. You’ve been granted a calling to be a priest and a king, to rule and to reign. What we see in the garden, what we see in God’s original intent with Adam in the garden of Eden is that He created Adam to be the God of this world. We’re not God. We’re not Jesus. I’m not saying that so nobody get nervous and start writing things. But originally God created Adam with authority, that he would rule and reign over God’s creation.
Adam made a choice…
Sadly, he made a choice to choose to sin and sell out his authority to the enemy. And that’s when evil and all things of the enemy entered the human experience.
Adam’s real sin was that he failed to exercise his authority…
But long before Adam even did what he did, God had a plan. And how many of you know, God doesn’t work in time? He works outside of time. So well before Adam chose to… Well, to be honest, we say that Adam yielded to temptation. He sinned. But the truth is, a number of Bible scholars say the real sin that Adam committed is that he failed to exercise his authority and drive the serpent out of the garden. That’s the main issue there. He didn’t use his authority.
The forces that operate in your soul create the reality of your future…
So what are you doing to guard and to tend and to watch over the affairs of your heart? First of all? Of all that you guard… Proverbs says to guard, watch over, be vigilant about your heart.
What’s going into it
What’s being germinated in it
What’s coming out of it
Because the forces that operate in your soul, in your heart, create the reality of your future. So above all that you guard, guard your heart. But as well, guard, watch over your household, your relationships, your church, your nation.
Get up on that wall of the outpouring and watch and pray. Jesus told His disciples, “Could you not watch and pray with me one hour?” There must be something extremely vital about that if He was urgently encouraging His disciples to stay awake and watch and pray.
And I think, yes, there are times when we fall asleep naturally in prayer. But I think more than anything, He’s calling us to be awakened this hour, to be watchful in this hour, so that in those moments we can be alert and instructed by God the Holy Spirit to exercise our dominion, to bind and to loose. You don’t do that constantly. But there are strategic moments where if you have a heart, a prayer, and you built a life of prayer, as Brother Hagin is saying here, then you’re aware and you’re circumspect and you’re sensitive and responsive to His leadership. So in those moments, you have correct and accurate and wise strategy and knowledge and wisdom, and even timing…
To say what needs to be said
To bind what needs to be bound
To loose what needs to be loosed
To pray in a way that is inspired by God the Holy Spirit
Because once again, God actually grants prayer. He inspires us. The Holy Spirit is not only the spirit of the future, but He’s also the spirit of prayer. He’s the great intercessor! And He’s desiring to be released in and through us because He’s got some God-granted, heaven-inspired things He wants to say through you. And you are the channel. You are the agent He has chosen, He’s handpicked, to speak what He wants to speak, to pray what He wants to pray, to prophesy what He wants to prophesy, to bind what must be bound now, to loose what must be loose.
Quote by John R. Mott…
So there’s a quote I came across last night that I thought was super timely. It comes from a man by the name of John R Mott. And I don’t know what century he lived in or what was his significance, but I came across this quote. He said once, “The Church has not yet touched the fringe of the possibilities of intercessory prayer. Her largest victories will be witnessed when individual Christians everywhere come to recognize their priesthood unto God and day by day give themselves unto prayer.” Amen!
The thread of relationship with our Creator…
My goodness. If there is a central thread in the lives of effective and successful believers and works of God, it is the thread of relationship with our creator that people have. You get to go and do life today, not based on the past or what you feel or what you see or what somebody said, but based on what God has said. And He said He is with us. He is for us. He is in us. In him, the Bible says, we live and move and have our being. For we are truly His offspring.
Smith Wigglesworth experience…
So just let that rise up in you today. Whatever is reported on the news tomorrow, whatever demonic entity manifests, we can be like the great Smith Wigglesworth who had an incarnate manifestation of the Devil himself at the end of his bed. One day when he woke up, he saw the Devil incarnate and said, “Oh… it’s only you,” and went back to sleep.
That’s the kind of authority that’s in us. That allows us to take control of situations in the spirit because truly to occupy a place through prayer in the spirit is to occupy a place in the natural. Do you want to make a difference and occupy until He comes in your nation, in your home, in your city, in your calling? Then, firstly, occupy a place in the spirit through prayer. Take up the mantle of prayer. See it as a privilege and an opportunity and something that we must be vigilant about.
First Peter 4:7…
There’s a passage I’ve read here before. It’s a verse that just often comes to me. And it’s found in 1st Peter 4:7. This is the Passion translation rendering of it. It says, “Since we are approaching the end of all things, be intentional and self-controlled so that you can be given to prayer.”
That’s something right there that we could sit on and talk about for a long time. But I encourage you to look up First Peter 4:7.
Kenneth E. Hagin quote continued…
Lemme finish this prophecy by brother Kenneth Hagin. He’s talking about building your life on prayer, which I’m just adding to it here. He says,
“So build your prayer life upon the Word. Wait upon Me, saith the Lord. And your strength will be renewed. Yes, you’ll run, you’ll not be weary. You’ll walk and not faint. Yes, only a ministry that’s built [or you could say a life that’s built] upon pray will be effective in these last days. And then some will say, ‘Well, the Word will do it. Just let the Word do it.’ But the Word will never be effective as it should, if that that who delivers the Word is not backed with a life of prayer. So let the prayer life come first. Let the ministry of prayer be first. And you are to be commended because you’re zealous of spiritual gifts. ‘Oh, to be used of the Lord,’ some have said. Yes, to be used by Him. ‘Lord, use me, Lord use me.’ But remember, even the gifts of the Spirit can be misused. Remember, the gifts of the spirit, if used in the flesh are not so powerful. They must be backed up with a life of prayer. And so when they’re backed up with a prayer life, then those gifts become great weapons, powerful weapons to pull down the strongholds of the enemy to do the work of God.”
Ending thought…
Keep that in mind today and as you go about your week, that what God has put in your voice, the prayers He’s inspiring you to pray, if you’ll give yourself in cooperation with those prayers, one of the things they’re designed to do is to tear down strongholds, to expose enemy forces, to stop the plot of the wicked one before it ever gains a foothold.
