Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Well, good morning! Happy Monday, everyone. Good to see all your beautiful faces. I want to thank you for your amazing supply of the Spirit in prayer. My name is Ken. If you don’t already know, I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word. Just a shout out to my online hosts and all of you that are joining us online as well. Good to have you with us on this Monday.
Surrendering your life moment by moment…
I just had a couple of reflections on this Monday as we segue into prayer here today. Firstly it’s been said that if you’ll listen to the Holy Spirit, He’ll make you look like a genius. And I was reflecting on some things last night, I was reminded that over the hundreds of years of church history, there have been many men and women who have devoted and surrendered themselves, not just their lives at one point, but daily and even moment by moment to following Him, to listening to the Holy Spirit, to surrendering themselves and being conscious of His abiding presence.
The practice of the old time believers…
And one of the practices that many of the old time believers and those going back even to the Middle Ages and beyond to the first century church, one of the practices they engaged in was this practice of taking multiple times during the day and just acknowledging His presence, just being present for a few moments in the morning, at noon day, in the afternoon, in the evening, and being conscious of God’s abiding presence.
God’s grace is fully abundant toward us…
It may be Monday morning, but guess what? His mercy and grace and love toward you is fully replenished. You and I have a fresh start. God’s grace does not deplete or go away. It’s always fully abundant for us, God’s grace. So no matter how your weekend went, or your life has been at this point, guess what? God’s mercy and grace is new towards you. And His presence is near, even on the inside of you if you professed His name. So choose to be conscious of Him today. He wants to make you look like a genius in your life because of your obedience to His promptings, because of your follow-through on that prayer that He’s inspiring you to pray.
Prayer originates with Him…
How many of you know that all prayer originates with the Father. In fact, another reflection I have is that you and I might just be one prayer away from a completely different experience of life. Prayer originates with Him. And when we’re conscious of Him, when we devote ourselves to Him, when we pause to reflect and be aware of His abiding presence on a daily basis, know that you’re going to connect with the prayer that He’s granting. You’re going to pray prayers even without you realizing it, that are inspired by His Spirit. That could shift the trajectory of your future like nothing else.
The answer is found in Him…
So whatever you’re facing, whatever you’re going through, let me remind you that the answer is found in Him—in Jesus! It’s found in Him, in a place of surrender and simply being with Him. Faith doesn’t begin in a problem. Instead, faith begins and ends in your relationship with Him. So choose on this Monday at the outset of a brand-new week and the remainder of 2025, choose to leverage your will. Choose to bend your will to be aware of Him today, to go with Him today, to deny something that your self-life wants, that your flesh wants, that the world is telling you that you need to give attention to and time to. And take up that place of prayer, that holy and most sacred calling of prayer, because it’s prayer and it’s time with the Father that’s going to get the job done, that’s going to revolutionize your future and give you a completely different life that you didn’t even know was possible.
Without Him, you and I can’t do it…
Once again, prayer prepares and paves the way for God’s purposes to come into reality, to become possible in our daily lives. Without Him, you and I can’t do it. Jesus Himself said, “Apart from, separated, disconnected from My Father, I can do nothing.” Well, how much more is that true for us? But joined with Him in relationship with Him, daily taking moments where we devote ourselves and are just aware of Him and just lift up holy hands and say, “Thank you, Lord. I recognize your presence in my life. I see what you’re saying in your Word.” Taking time to simply pray in the Spirit. So profound and so powerful and so life changing, more than we’ll ever know on this side of glory.
Make no mistake about it!
You make your way forward in life through your prayers and your time with Him. The problem that you have with a child, let’s say, will be resolved by prayer and your pursuit of His presence. Your financial struggle will only be resolved through time with Jesus. That spiritual dry place that you’re facing, that seemingly insurmountable problem that you continue to grapple with year after year will only turn over into a new season of revival and refreshing by prayer and pursuing the one who holds all the answers.
Jesus stated this in Mark 9:29…
“So He said to them, This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” I know He was talking about a demonic entity coming out, but sometimes there are things that have rooted themselves in our souls and lives and our behaviors, and even in our thinking that only come out… that we’re only delivered of by a determined purpose to know Him, to stay in the face of God. It doesn’t mean you have to be there for an hour or two hours or “gut it out” all night in prayer. But just say, “Today is a new day. Today, I’m determined to touch… (I think Pastor Jim was talking about that yesterday) the hem of His garment as that woman with the issue of blood had. She had a perennial problem, something that was difficult to be delivered of, something seemingly difficult to change. But it wasn’t difficult to God. What she needed was to touch the hymn of the Lord’s garment of His robe and then anointing would flow and her 12-year struggle would be over, never to be seen again.
Your struggle? It’s time for that to be over!
Just know that on this Monday morning that 12-year struggle, that lifelong challenge, that issue in your body, that issue in your finances, that issue with your emotions in some way, that trauma that you continue to grapple with and seems to trip you up at times in your life—it’s time for that to be over! Your struggle, your challenge, that adversity, it has an expiration date and the Lord is saying that is today. He’s calling us simply to be aware of Him. Like the old-time men and women of faith did…
Maybe you don’t have time to give Him two hours today to pray.
Maybe you have five minutes here, and then you have five minutes there.
Maybe you have three or four or five different time intervals throughout your day where you can pause and open the scriptures.
Maybe you can pause and simply be silent and notice your breath as you’re aware of His presence on the inside of you.
Maybe you could pause this afternoon at three o’clock when you feel your ADHD trying to get ahold of you and you’re distracted and you pray in the spirit for five minutes.
Bend your will toward Him…
Just different moments throughout your day where you’re just conscious of Him. You bend your will toward Him. You turn your eyes toward His presence, toward His Word, toward being aware of Him. He’s got you. It’s time for that challenge, that difficulty, that stronghold to end in Jesus’ name.
We’re in the season of “new things are beginning…”
We’re entering into a season where old things are ending now and new things are beginning for us as individuals and for us as a church, for America, for the nations. All that is required is for us to choose to believe. We’ve been called to a journey of faith. And faith isn’t something we just mentally ascent to. Faith is a relationship with Him. Faith flows out of being conscious of the divine presence of His Word, of His Spirit, of Him.
This is the work of the kingdom that you might believe. So latch hold of what I just said there. Your struggle, your challenge, that adversity, that stronghold has an expiration date. And God is saying, “Guess what? Today is that day. It’s to expire and some new things are to begin.” Will you not believe? Will you not attach your faith to that?
God’s not done yet…
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been disappointed or your expectations are a bit frustrated because it hasn’t happened according to what you thought was supposed to happen or according to what you thought the timetable was. God’s not done yet. It’s not over in the natural that is. Hallelujah.
James 5:13…
Let me read a couple more scriptures here in James five. This is a good one to memorize and get in your heart. Let me start in James 5:13. It says, “Is any among you suffering?” Another translation says, “Going through a tough time, experiencing adversity,” you could say, stuck in the status quo where nothing seems to be changing. The writer of this passage says, “Is any among you suffering? Let him pray.” To pray is to make progress. Maybe not always in the natural in that moment. But trust me, you’ll make progress in your soul. You’ll make progress in your experience of His presence. You’ll make progress on the inside.
God is flipping some switches today on the inside of us. He’s turning on light switches. He’s turning on fresh perspective. He’s turning on hope.
Oh, come on now, somebody can say amen to that!
He’s flipping the switch of hope today. It’s not over! He’s not through with you. So let Him flip the switch.
Refuse to be downtrodden.
Refuse to be depressed.
Refuse to be disconnected from your courage or be discouraged.
Let your heart sing…
But instead, let your heart sing. Let your heart open up and be glad. For He is faithful and He is good. In fact, even in the midst of death and despair and destruction and traumas and things that didn’t seem to work out, it’s in those places of death, whether they be small or great, where actually God brings forth life.
Jesus said if a seed remains within itself, it dies and that’s it. But if a seed dies and is planted and is received by the earth, it will produce a harvest. So maybe something died in your life in some way. Well, guess what! You can expect that that has or is becoming a seed and is going to produce a whole new harvest you didn’t think was even possible.
God is into redeeming…
Remember, God is in the business of redemption. That’s what this whole message of grace is all about. This whole message of Jesus is all about. God is into redeeming. That even in death that it would be swallowed up by victory, swallowed up and produce new life. Jesus Himself was that consummate seed. He died and it looked like it was over and there was no hope for humanity.
But guess what?
The earth received Him. He was planted, in other words. And the Bible says at the appointed time, He took back the keys of death, hell, and the grave. And He ascended from the belly of the earth, from the depths of hell. And He arose and was seen and witnessed and reported as being alive on planet earth by some 500 witnesses. And eventually He would ascend back to His rightful place at the right hand of His Father on high, to call many sons and daughters, not just Himself anymore, but many, including us to glory. That we would follow in His footsteps.
Was it hard for Jesus in His humanity?
Don’t you know it was hard for Jesus in His humanity? Yes, He was God, but He took on the form of humanity. It was hard in the garden of Gethsemane, as He sweat great drops of blood. It was hard when He was beaten and scourged by the Roman army. It was hard when He was falsely accused by His own brethren. It was hard when He went through all the steps that it took to redeem you and me.
But somehow, some way, He kept hold of His relationship with His Father and the faith that was sown within Him so that He could go all the way to the cross and all the way into the depths of the earth and ultimately come all the way back up to the place of victory and eternal life.
Why do I say that?
I’m saying if He could do that…
How much more can we encourage ourselves in the Lord today?
How much more can we bend our will toward Him today?
How much more can we choose to periodically throughout the day pause and reflect on His promise.
How much more can we choose to pause and recognize that He’s right there with you no matter how dark or how difficult it might be.
How much more can we say, “Oh, I don’t care.”
The psalmist of old says, “Yay, though I walk through…” I walk through, by the way, that’s the operative phrase there. I walk through. I don’t stay there. I walk through the valleys that have shadows that appear like the death of me. I will fear no evil for thou art with me. Your rod and your staff… What is that? Your Word and your Spirit, they comfort me. They surround me. They carry me.
You’re going to get through this.
You’re going to go all the way through this.
You’re not going to stay where you are.
You’re on your way to victory.
You’re on your way to glory.
You’re on your way from one degree of glory to next degree of glory.
