Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Happy Monday, everyone.
We’ve got to get better at being a spirit…
I want to share a couple of things. Something someone shared the other day from a woman who’s a great pray-er and minister of the Gospel. I was listening to her message, and she said something that kind of hit me across the spirit in a good way. She said, “We’ve got to get better at being a spirit.” The truth of the matter is we are a multi-part being. We have a body. We have a soul, which is our mind, will and emotions. But we are fundamentally an eternal spirit, created in the image of God.
I was just thinking about Genesis 6:8, where it talks about the fallen angels came and cohabitated with the daughters of men, human beings, and they created offspring. So their DNA was close enough. So God’s DNA and humans DNA must be close enough that they could produce a race, at that time, sadly, giants that were outside of the boundaries of God. And so, they’ll be judged for that, those fallen angels.
We are, firstly, spirit beings…
But I think even that tells us how close we are to Him. We’re created in His image. We are spirits who will live on forever in the realm of God. And one of the things the Lord is endeavoring to remind us of, I believe, in this hour, even on the eve of His second return, on the eve of what must come that will consummate the age and wrap up what God is doing in this particular dispensation is that He’s reminding us that we are firstly spirits. And that while it’s easy to be a human in a flesh-and-bone body, it just kind of happens there’s a natural gravitation to that because of the realm we’re in presently. But God is drawing our attention to the fact that He wants us to get better at being spirits and having a supernatural spiritual experience.
One where we walk with God day by day. One where we’re able to partner with Him and engage with Him in what He wants to transmit into the earth. What He wants to carry out in the earth. History, once it’s written at the end of today, is partly the result of what you and I do to obey the leadership of the Holy Spirit on the inside of us.
We are set up to succeed…
How many of you know that the Spirit of God co-equal with God the Father, and God the Son, lives in you, if you profess the name of Jesus? Isn’t that a good word this morning? That tells me, and that should tell you, that we are set up to succeed today. Not only in the arena of prayer, but that God has invested in us, deposited a measure of Himself in us, a down payment on our salvation, the redeeming of our bodies will come. But right now, He’s deposited in us a measure of Himself, that being God the Holy Spirit.
Things are rigged in your favor…
And with everything He brings, that sets us up to succeed today. You’re set up to succeed today! Things are rigged in your favor today. My favor today. The church’s favor today. And the Lord wants to write the history in such a way at the end of the day because we obeyed. Because what we do or don’t do determines what history will be.
He will give you another helper…
And in the Book of John in verse 16 from the New King James, it says, “And I will pray the Father and He will give you another helper that He may abide with you forever. The Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” Then Jesus finally says in verse 18, “I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.”
So, there’s so much to be done in the realm of prayer. There’s so much of God yet to be had. There’s so much that God wants to bring through you and me today in our prayer lives and in our obedience and in our faith decrees.
Your mind is in a perpetual state of learning…
I heard something the other day from a long-time clinical psychologist who said that your mind records everything you say. Everything that you’re thinking and dwelling on. In other words, your mind is in a perpetual state of learning about you. So if you’re saying to yourself, “It’s never going to work out. It never has worked out. It never will work out in my life for me.” Your mind is learning. It’s paying attention and recording what you’re saying. There must be a reason why Jesus said “You can have what you say.” Because your mind and your soul is recording that.
So be kind to yourself. Speak wisely to yourself. Choose the right thoughts and the right words to speak because they will work for you or they’ll work against you. The more you throw up at the mouth, the more you’re negative, the more you speak doubt and unbelief—you hinder God! You bind Him from working in your life. And you’re teaching your soul. You’re teaching your mind that “Yeah, it’s not going to work out for you. You shouldn’t expect anything good.”
But the more you say, “Everything I set my hands to prospers and succeeds.” The more you say, “I’m the very picture of health. While I’ve experienced a setback, I’m getting stronger with every step, each and every day.” That “no weapon formed against me will prosper.” “If God be for me, who can be against me. I’m strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
We are to program our minds…
You’re programming your mind. You’re teaching your soul to believe. Your words and your thoughts teach your inner self what to believe. And for some of us, we’re hung up and all caught up in doubt and shame and defeat. And ADHD because the body of what we say, the body of our language is perpetually drawn from the past, drawn from our circumstances, drawn from what we presently see.
We’re called to bring forth change…
But my Bible still reads that the just are to live by faith. That we’re not to live only according to our five physical senses, but that He has given us His Word and granted us a measure of His Son the inside that we would have inside information, that we would be able to discern and see through the pain and through the cloudiness of our past, see through the present circumstances and see that we’re called to victory and see that we’re called to bring forth change through the portal that is our lives and our spirits. Change not only to our families. Change not only to those generations that will come behind us in our own families and in our nation in the world. But change on the world stage.
We’re called to shake the world…
We are the greatest change agents on planet earth. You and me and us collectively, the church—the Ecclesia. Here at Living Word, those of you online joined with us and around the world, we’re called to shake the world. We’re called to topple false gods and show the way to truth and to life and to love. And that is Jesus Christ! And you can’t do that by having a physical, carnal experience only.
Yes, we have a body. It’s necessary to navigate and be in existence in this realm and world. But firstly, you are a spirit. And it’s your spirit taking the reins of your life. And your spirit taking the reins and telling you what to speak and what to pray and what to decree that brings change in the natural arena over the course of time.
Kenneth Hagin’s book, “Following God’s Plan for Your Life”
Let me just share a little bit from brother Kenneth Hagin’s book, “Following God’s Plan for Your Life.” He reminds us of a couple of passages. The first one being Ephesians 5:17–21. It says, “Wherefore be not unwise but understanding what the will or purpose of the Lord is.”
That’s your number-one assignment today—is to know Him. And by knowing Him and being in fellowship and friendship with Him, you’re going to discover His will and plan.
It goes on to say…
“And be not drunk with wine wherein is excess.” In other words, don’t be inebriated by all the distractions of the age, you could say. “But be filled with the Spirit. Speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
“Well, Ken, I don’t feel that way.”
Well, guess what? You’re firstly a spirit, so your spirit can take the reins and tell your body and your flesh and your will and how you presently feel—“Shut up! We’re going to God today.”
We’re going to simply parrot or repeat His Word. His Word is truth. The Bible promises His Word will never pass away; on and on through the eons to come, His Word will stand. It will still be truth. If it’s truth, then we must go by it even though we see or feel something differently. The just shall live by what we believe, not by what we see. I believe God. I believe His Word is true.
So it says…
“Giving thanks always unto God and the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Submitting yourselves to one to another in the fear of the Lord.” And then he reminds us of Romans 12:10–11, which says, “Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love in honor, preferring one another. Not slothful,” you could say lazy or slow, “but in business, but fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.”
I like that.
Now I’m going to jump down and to another passage where he says, referring to the Ephesians passage in Ephesians five, we just read he says, “Notice our text says, ‘wherefore be not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.’”
The Lord wants you to know His plan today. He wants you to know how to navigate that situation at the office or what direction to take in school. He’s for you. He’s not against you. He’s not trying to keep something from you. He’s trying to get something over to you and me. He’s trying to help us to be better at being a spirit. “And be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit.”
Just like your car doesn’t go so far if it’s empty from gas or diesel or electrical charge. So your spirit doesn’t go very far and doesn’t know what the will of God if it’s not perpetually filled.
He says…
“These verses are telling us that it is possible to know what the will of the Lord is for our lives. For one thing, God’s will is that believers be filled to overflowing with the Spirit. How can you tell if a person is filled with the Holy Spirit? Someone said, I’m filled with the Holy Spirit because I spoke with tongues years ago. But DL Moody once said, ‘Living only on past experiences is living on stale manna.’ I agree with Ephesians 5:18 says, ‘be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit.’ In other words, to be filled with the Spirit is to be filled now in the present tense. It’s a continual ongoing action, not something that occurred once, sometime in the past.
“Greek scholars tell us in Ephesians 5:18, the Greek words for “to be filled with the Spirit” mean being filled with the Holy Spirit, being and presently being.’
“In other words, we are to maintain a constant experience of being filled with the Holy Spirit. The will of God for our lives is that we will be filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit.”
The answer lies in being filled with the Spirit…
And I have to say that takes care of a lot of things. You want to know what the will of God is? You want to have strength to rise above the adversity you’re facing? You want to know how to deal with that unkind person at the office? On and on… Whatever you want to point to in your life, the answer lies in being filled with God the Holy Spirit.
You and I have a responsibility as pray-ers and believers to be and perpetually be filled. One way we can do that is by speaking, be being filled speaking, the Bible says. In songs, in hymns, in spiritual sayings. Just saying, hallelujah. Just turning your attention away from whatever your favorite distraction is. I know it’s hard. I’m not here preaching as I’ve arrived. I haven’t. I have to perpetually say, “What am I doing? I’m wasting time on this. I need to turn my attention to the Word or to the people around me,” or course, “firstly to the Lord.”
Turn your heart to Him…
There’s something so simple, yet so profound and so empowering by turning off the distractions and simply turning your heart to Him. Looking away, the Bible says, from all that distracts unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith. He’s the alpha, the omega, the beginning and the end. He’s the one who said the good work begun in you I will perpetuate it and I will bring you and your calling to a flourishing finish.
Look away from what distracts you…
But the prerequisite is that you must look away from what distracts you, away from what drains you, away from what has a very short shelf life. Entertainment, whatever you want to point to, whatever your favorite entertainment is. Maybe it’s good in the moment, but it has a really short shelf life. It’s just there and then it has no residual effect.
But time in the presence of God, time becoming imbibed with His Word, the Word of God, which carries His heavenly DNA. Now that’s an investment! That’s something that will carry you and set you up to succeed and cause you to grasp the will of God, the purpose and the plan of God for your todays and your tomorrows and your next weeks. Spiritual things, practices, habits are investments that you might not see with your natural eye, but trust me, they go deep into your internal nature.
They become a spiritual investment into your future on the earth and your future in the heaven to come. Glory to God. We tap into a superabundant supply of resource for whatever we’re facing or whatever we’re called to do. We tap into that, in other words, and we draw and make withdrawals upon that superabundant resource through speaking out in songs and hymns, praying in other tongues. As we know, Jude says, “builds us up.” Charges us up.
Praying in other tongues will build you up…
When you think of praying in other tongues, think of one of those EV charging stations you see at Target or different places around town where you can plug in and it charges up your EV super quick. With high voltage. Well, praying in other tongues hooks you up, connects you to the high voltage of heaven so that you have a full supply, so that you grasp what God’s will and His steps for you. He has steps already in His mind for today and tomorrow and next week. He has people for you to see and talk to. He has the Gospel for you to share with one or maybe another. He has a direction for you to go in. He has provisioned that He has prepared and set in store for us individually as a church and beyond.
But to make withdrawals on those blessings, Pastor Jim mentioned it yesterday. Ephesians 1:3 that we’ve been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm in Christ Jesus.” To draw upon and take advantage of those supplies and those blessings requires spiritual activity, requires us becoming better at being a spirit, having a spiritual experience, and not just a natural experience.
“That’s really good preaching, Pastor Ken.”
Well, I’m glad that you agree. It is Monday morning, right? And I’m just stirring you up today. Things have been set up for you to succeed this week, for you to have a blast and thriving and rising week. And don’t gauge how your week or your month goes based on how you feel or whether or not you see circumstantial change. Sometimes when you’re in the midst of a fight, sometimes when you’re resisting temptation or dealing with symptoms or see nothing changing with the situation of your family. You’re tempted to like, “Well, I guess it’s not working. I guess it’s not going to happen for me.”
Say “NO” to the enemy…
No! A thousand times no! Say “NO” to that. You have a will. Leverage your will to say “no” to the enemy. The enemy doesn’t look necessarily like an entity with horns and a pitchfork. The enemy looks like fear, looks like temptation, looks like a feeling of dread or the circumstances staying the same. I don’t have to be moved by what I see. I don’t have to be moved by what has happened, past tense. I’m moved only by the Word of God. And if His words says it’s to be a certain way, then so be it. That’s where I’ll give Him praise right there. “Father, I thank you. I believe I receive what I prayed for.”
A word for someone battling fear…
Holy Spirit, we give you permission to arrest us when we’re about to repeat something negatively, when we’re about to repeat our past or think the wrong thought or say the wrong words. We pray, Lord, interrupt us by your Spirit and cause us to have a word in season to speak to ourselves, even if it’s “no,” for no is a God word… to say “no” to the Devil, to say “no” to our flesh, to say “no” to our mind that wants to take us down a wrong and dark path. We say “no” to depression and “no” to defeat and “no” to fear.
Somebody’s battling fear!
You’ve been like in a fight, and you feel like you’re up to your elbows and your kneecaps with the muck of fear and dread and anxiety and upset. And your soul is like all inside out. I say today is the day for change. For change is coming to your life and to your heart right now, in Jesus’ name. Jesus said don’t let your heart be troubled.
And so, Father, I pray, may you bring reinforcements to that person’s life. And I command reinforcements for them to be courageous and strong and be able to say “no” to fear and “no” to doubts, and “no” to worry and “no” to anxiety. And even as they embrace this word, Father, I pray and I declare, devil of fear and anxiety and worry and dread and doubt and suicidal ideation and melancholy… I say, “No more.” I serve you notice on this day, the 14th of April of 2025. You are done! I sever your assignment on that dearly beloved child of God. And I say, “Go from their life.” Spirit of fear, entities of fear and enslavement of darkness, that even have come through generational lines, I curse you and I command you to “Go” in the mighty name of Jesus.
And I speak freedom. Your Word says, he who the sun sets free is free indeed. So I say FREEDOM over you. I declare freedom to your soul, freedom to your thoughts, freedom to your emotions, freedom over your household and your children and your children’s children today. Freedom in Jesus’ name.
A word came for someone to give something up to Jesus…
Now don’t hold anything back. Somebody needs to give something up to Jesus. It’s not something you want either. It’s something you need to turn over to Him. You need to lay at the altar, at the feet of Jesus today whatever that is. Maybe it’s a pattern that defeats you. Maybe it’s a wrong attitude. You need to turn it over to Him today. Let go of it. Let go of the past. Let go of what didn’t work out for you. Let go of your unmet expectations. Let go of it in Jesus’ name. He’s trying to get something over to you, but you won’t let go of what He wants to take from you. So let go of that in Jesus’ name that you might fully be able to receive freedom and fullness and wholeness in every way.
Healing waves are coming…
Healing waves. I pray for a supernatural healing wave now. Cross this place through our online channels today, healing waves in Jesus’ name, in our churches, in our homes.
Somebody’s going to get a report. It’s like you’re going to come home later today and you’re going to get a report of healing. You’re going to get a good report from the doctor that says all the negative that was reported on the scan or in the test is gone. You’re going to get a clean bill of health.
For somebody else, you’re going to maybe come home or maybe make a phone call and you’re going to find out that situation has completely changed.
And I keep sensing that somebody’s going to get a report of a child or a loved one that you’re going to discover they’re in revival and they’ve fully given their heart to the Lord, and you didn’t even realize it till today in Jesus’ name.
So let your heart be lifted today. Expect the unexpected. Believe something good, really good, is happening to you today. That all things are possible to him who will simply believe in the goodness of God. Thank you, Father.
