Pastor Ray continues…

Sweet. I want to read to you Psalm 24 in the Amplified translation:

1 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it. 2 For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the currents and the rivers. 3 Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation [description] of those who seek Him [who inquire of and for Him and of necessity require Him], who seek Your face, [O God of] Jacob. Selah [pause, and think of that]! 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be lifted up, you age-abiding doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; yes, lift them up, you age-abiding doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is [He then] this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah [pause, and think of that]! (Amplified)

I listened to Fox News on Sunday morning before I went to church and they talked about Landen. But he’s back in school and he walks perfectly. But Fox News read what Landen had said. His mother keeps asking him, “Are you okay, Landen?” He says to his mother, “I’m healed. You don’t have to ask me anymore how I am.” I love it. So that’s what they reported. He’s healed. Whole. Healthy. Whooo! It’s good news. We knew it but it’s nice to see it reported nationally, yes?

Patrick shared…

They actually said that on the regular networks too. About Jesus and everything. I couldn’t believe it. That he said it was Jesus that healed him. I almost fainted when I heard that.

Pastor Ray continued…

Concerning prayer, I wanted to read parts of Acts 12. This is the way The Message puts it.

That’s when King Herod got it into his head to go after some of the church members. He murdered James, John’s brother. When he saw how much it raised his popularity ratings with the Jews, he arrested Peter—all this during Passover Week, mind you—and had him thrown in jail, putting four squads of four soldiers each to guard him. He was planning a public lynching after Passover.

Interjection… So Peter’s days were numbered, okay?

5 All the time that Peter was under heavy guard in the jailhouse, the church prayed for him most strenuously.

Interjection… They were praying. They had one thing they were praying for—Peter! Sometimes when we’re praying, we just want to figure it all out in our minds how God is going to work. But He already knows how He’s going to work. Remember the song we sing—The Way Maker! He’s the one that makes a way. We can’t make the way. But He makes the way. But we declare His Word so He can make the way. I just want to make this point. Let’s continue…

6 Then the time came for Herod to bring him out for the kill. That night, even though shackled to two soldiers, one on either side, Peter slept like a baby.

Interjection…  Wow, he slept like a baby. He had no cares.

And there were guards at the door keeping their eyes on the place. Herod was taking no chances!

7-9 Suddenly there was an angel at his side and light flooding the room. The angel shook Peter and got him up: “Hurry!” The handcuffs fell off his wrists. The angel said, “Get dressed. Put on your shoes.” Peter did it. Then, “Grab your coat and let’s get out of here.” Peter followed him, but didn’t believe it was really an angel—he thought he was dreaming.

10-11 Past the first guard and then the second, they came to the iron gate that led into the city. It swung open before them on its own, and they were out on the street, free as the breeze. At the first intersection the angel left him, going his own way. That’s when Peter realized it was no dream. “I can’t believe it—this really happened! The Master sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s vicious little production and the spectacle the Jewish mob was looking forward to.”

12-14 Still shaking his head, amazed, he went to Mary’s house, the Mary who was John Mark’s mother. The house was packed with praying friends. When he knocked on the door to the courtyard, a young woman named Rhoda came to see who it was. But when she recognized his voice—Peter’s voice!—she was so excited and eager to tell everyone Peter was there that she forgot to open the door and left him standing in the street.

15-16 But they wouldn’t believe her, dismissing her, dismissing her report. “You’re crazy,” they said.

Interjection… They said she was crazy! But what were they praying for? For Peter to get out!

She stuck by her story, insisting. They still wouldn’t believe her and said, “It must be his angel.” All this time poor Peter was standing out in the street, knocking away.

16-17 Finally they opened up and saw him—and went wild! Peter put his hands up and calmed them down. He described how the Master had gotten him out of jail, then said, “Tell James and the brothers what’s happened.” He left them and went off to another place.

Pastor Ray…

He went off to a safe place. So the point is the room is filled with believers, friends of Peter, and they’re praying up a storm. Do you think they knew exactly how this would come forth? Maybe they were praying about a release because Herod had a change of heart. Or maybe they thought through an attorney they could get him released. But they had no idea that He would send an angel to set him free, bringing him past all the guards. And the gate would open automatically. And he’d walk out free. How many times do you think that we have situations that we’re praying about and in our minds we’re thinking this is probably the way it’s going to happen. This is probably how it needs to happen. When God has a plan. If we lift up that plan and pray for it and believe He’s working and that He’ll do it His way. His ways are always better than our ways. His ways are higher than our ways. Just that we know He’s working. He’s got our backs and working on our behalf. So in a way, we have to relax and rest in Him.

Prayed…
