Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Worship leader…
Good morning, everybody! Welcome to morning prayer.
The beauty of Jesus…
So this morning, I’ve been thinking about the beauty of Jesus and how if we focus on Jesus, it’s not that the problems go away, they just seem to fall into the right place… as far as where our focus should be. And Jesus is the most beautiful in all of creation. There’s a song from 20 some years ago that calls Him the “Darling of Heaven.” I love that. And the Psalms actually talks quite a bit about some of this.
Devotional: “Prayers on Fire”
So I’m going to read from the “Prayers on Fire” devotional. I’ve read from some of these before. This is a devotional by Brian Simmons and Gretchen Rodriguez. They did the Passion translation. So this is Psalm 29:2 that says…
“Be in awe before His majesty. Be in awe before such power and might. Come worship wonderful Yahweh arrayed in all His splendor, bowing in worship as He appears in all His holy beauty.”
And the devotional says this…
God, you are arrayed in splendor.
You rule with majesty and holiness, eternity at your side.
You are stunning, radiant, and glorious.
Struck with awe, I can do nothing more than bow low and worship you.
I hear a symphony playing as nature sings your song.
The clashing of symbols as the waters break against the shore.
The power of your voice splinters against the mighty forests and echoes through the skies.
It shakes the desert yet speaks to me with tender care.
Stars sparkle as they dance on the edge of your fingertips while the oceans reveal the depths of your love.
You are the strength of storms, the roar of thunder, the flashes of lightning, and the rush of wind.
Though your eyes blaze with fire and tempt me to cower and hide, I cannot look away.
Consuming me again with holy passion, you draw me in.
I fall prostrate before you in awe and wonder.
You strengthen me.
And it is only by your grace that I may stand before someone so holy.
You kiss me with peace and call me your child.
You lift me up and call me your friend.
Jesus, we worship you and all your beauty, and all your majesty, and all your holiness.
Psalm 27:4 in the Message says this…
“I’m asking God for one thing, only one thing: to live with Him in His house my whole lifelong. I’ll contemplate His beauty. I’ll study at His feet.”
We have what King David desired…
Pretty sure I’ve said this here before. David was asking for something that we have 24/7. David had to go to the temple to be in the presence of the Lord. And that’s where he always wanted to live. David wanted what we have every day.
Prayed…
Jesus, may we not take that for granted, that we get to just be with you every moment of every day. That you can be our one thing. You can have first place. We can come into your presence anytime, anyplace. We don’t have to go to a particular building or even be with particular people. We can just come because you’re there with us. You’re there in us.
But just like David, we do want to contemplate your beauty, and we do want to study at your feet.
We want you, Jesus, and nothing else.
Pastor Heather…
And I don’t want anyone else. I don’t need anything else. I don’t want anyone else. I don’t need anything else.
So we welcome you into the space of our hearts, these temples, these living temples that we are now the Holy of Holies where you dwell.
Thank you that you dwell in us, you move in us. You have your being in us. That we’re living and walking temples of the Holy Spirit.
That’s no small thing. We have the living, breathing God inside of us. The Holy Spirit, the comforter is inside of us. Jesus, the lover of our soul is inside of us. Oh, we thank you for that.
The power that we have available just living inside of us for every good work.
So we access your power, your comfort, your presence.
We thank you for your presence upon, but we thank you for your presence within.
For in us you move, you breathe, you have your being… in you we live, we breathe and have our being
A relationship, an intimacy, partnership.
So we cooperate with the living, breathing Holy Spirit, living inside of us
We choose to not walk in our minds, in our own abilities, but to be sensitive to the Spirit because He has orders now. He has orders; He has steps.
Oh, and an equipping. When we’re listening, when we’re walking in the place that He’s showing us, when He’s shedding light upon our path.
Word from the Lord…
Oh, so I hear…
“Listen now, listen, listen, listen, listen, listen for My voice because there’s so many voices now that are battling for your attention. But listen for My voice, My still small voice. You’ll know when you hear it because you’ll sense My peace and My presence.
“And that overwhelming circumstance that you’re facing, you’ll laugh in the presence of that circumstance because you’ll see that I’ve already conquered that circumstance. I’ve already walked it out in front of you. I’ve already made a way. I’ve already made provision. I’ve already given you tools and equipping for that circumstance.
“So come up here now. Come sit with Me in heavenly places. Come see My view. Come see My view because all things are under My feet,” says the Lord. “All things are under My feet. And My power is working and moving in you. But you have to access it. You have to appropriate it. You have to cooperate with it.”
Response…
Oh, we thank you, Jesus. We cooperate with the Spirit.
We are moving with you, listening for your leadings, for your guidance.
I hear Him say…
“Eyes on Me now because I have a plan. You’re not alone in whatever your circumstances.”
He’s with you. He will never leave us or forsake us, Jesus.
We have the Great Comforter living inside of us.
We have Jesus interceding for us, and we have a Father that loves us.
Oh, so we’re in good company today.
Prayed…
Father, every need we have, you’ve already met it… just in your presence. Just as we magnify you. Just as we make you big, as we worship you because you are worthy of worship. You’re so worthy. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Clothed in glory and majesty. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.
