Morning Chapel Prayer Today
Pastor Ken…
Well, hello everyone. Happy Monday and good morning. Good to see you all. My name is Ken Olson. I’m one of the pastors here at Living Word. I just want to encourage you guys just to “lock in” this morning, as they say, and bring your supply of prayer and worship as we turn to God.
Billy Graham quote…
I thought I would share a couple of things with you. I love this quote. I’ve been meditating on it lately. It comes from Billy Graham from a number of years ago. He once said, “There’s only one power available to change the course of history, and that is the power of prayer.” Amen. So we get a chance to change the trajectory of history this morning, as the Lord Grants prayer and inspires us to pray.
He watches over His Word to perform it…
And then I wanted to read something that is a bit of a prophetic word, bit of an encouragement, perhaps to some of you. I know it always is to me. To be mindful and reminded of the fact that the God we serve is in the business of redemption. Not only redeeming our souls from eternity in the wrong place but also redeeming everything and anything that we allow Him to work in our lives.
He’s able to redeem families.
He is able to redeem lives.
He’s able to redeem time that we’ve lost.
He’s able to redeem situations that appear to be hopeless.
He’s able to redeem whatever we bring to Him.
He’s in the business of redemption! And so I just encourage you this morning, if you’re looking to Him for some change or for some things to be transformed, well guess what? He’s at work watching over His Word to perform it and is going to redeem that what you are standing for, according to His Word.
This prophetic word says…
“God is in the business of making things work out. He loves to transform what the enemy meant for your hurt and destruction into something beautiful and good, simply because you love Him and are called according to His purpose. For every day of pain and temptation you’ve gone through, He wants to give you double for your trouble. For every setback, He wants to provide you with a greater day of comeback. And every time you were blasted by the enemy, He wants to shower you with favor and opportunity. So stay with God today. Hold onto hope.”
Ken’s commentary…
In other words, don’t let go of it. In other words, be on the edge of your seat. Get yourself right on the edge of your seat and let your head crane and be turned looking for and expecting His faithfulness. That’s what hope is. It’s you and your derrière on the very edge of your seat looking—each morning, each day, throughout the day—expecting God is coming through. Because when you prayed that prayer and you believed you received, guess what? You did receive. Spiritually. It’s on the way coming through from the Spirit to the natural.
Prophetic word continued…
“So stay with God today. Hold onto hope and be encouraged by the fact that God has planned for you to succeed and to win. He is going to repay you for all the harassment and pain you’ve gone through. And when it’s all said and done and the final chapter is written, you will announce with an emphatic tone in your voice. ‘God is faithful, full of mercy, and always causes me to triumph.’”
Ken’s commentary…
Isn’t that good? The Scripture that goes along with that is found in Isaiah 43:16–20. Message paraphrase reads, “Forget about what’s happened. Don’t keep going over old history.” That preaches to somebody here. That preaches to me this morning. “Be alert. Be present. I’m about to do something brand new. It’s bursting out. Don’t you see it? There it is. I’m making a road through the desert.”
I hear in my heart “He’s making history. Will you not be aware of it?”
He’s making history.
He’s changing history.
Your history.
My history.
Church history.
American history.
World history.
Things are shifting. You can tell. You can see. We know it. We’ve been praying about it. It’s been prophesied. Well, guess what? We’re in the middle of it!
Things are shifting.
Things are changing.
Today things are shifting.
Things are changing for you in Jesus’ name.
Don’t grow weary in well doing…
Refuse to be distracted by the present circumstances. Refuse to give a second thought to an alternative outcome. What God has said will be so, will be so. Don’t grow weary in well doing. Only grow strong in faith, giving praise to God. That’s what the Bible says. That’s what Abraham did. He grew strong in faith, giving praise and acknowledgement and worship to the Lord of heaven. He grew strong in the midst of that.
Prophecy continued…
“So don’t keep going over old history. Be alert. Be present. I am about to do something brand new. It’s bursting out. Don’t you see it? There it is. I’m making a road through the desert. Rivers in the badlands. Wild Animals will say thank you. The coyotes and the buzzards will say, ‘Because I provided water in the desert, rivers in the wastelands.’”
In other words, don’t process the problem. Instead praise Him for provision.
Excerpt from book, “Spiritual Warfare”
Now I’m going to jump over to one other thing I want to share with you entitled “Spiritual Warfare” by Grace Ryerson Roos. And I’ve read some of her stuff in times past, but she has this one chapter, chapter three. It looks like Billye Brim’s ministry published this. It’s a short little read. And in chapter three, she talks about standing and withstanding.
And she quotes Ephesians chapter six…
“Finally, my brethren. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles.” You could say the trickery, the deception, the strategies of the Devil.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities.” So in other words, keep that straight in your thinking. It’s not what somebody did to you. It’s not what they said, what they didn’t follow through on, what you see in the natural. It’s what is going on beyond the veil, beyond this seen realm, into the realm of spirits where that’s where we war. That’s what we’re standing against. Those principalities, those powers, those demonic entities that seek to harass and discourage and try to exercise false authority. I say false authority because they’re renegades. They seek through deception and through distraction and through all sorts of manipulation and accusations to discourage believers. Those in the church. If we give attention to them.
But my Bible still says that we can look away from what distracts. We can look away from what the enemy is doing in his sideshow, unto Jesus, the one who authored our faith, the one who continues our faith, and the one who will help us to rise and thrive and run our race until we reach a flourishing finish.
It’s not over…
If you woke up this morning, it’s not over. In other words, you haven’t come to the end of your race. The last chapter hasn’t been written about that situation, about your family, about your finances, about your calling. There’s more race to be run today. So let’s just see today as a gift to turn our attention to Him. See today as a gift and an opportunity to co-labor with the Holy Spirit in walking out the plan of God, in praying out the plan of God. Our way forward is through prayer. We make our way forward through prayer.
And that includes worship.
That includes faith decrees.
That includes intercession.
That includes supplication.
That includes prayer in the spirit.
He is our divine strategist…
However, the Lord is leading you, know that He is your divine strategist. He is able to show each and every one of us the way forward today. In prayer and in our individual lives so that we’re effective every time.
This goes on to say…
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand, stand therefore.”
She writes…
“When one stands, he or she takes a stand, or position, and holds it. When one withstands, he or she stands and holds out against something. To withstand suggests force, pressure, and resistance. To illustrate this, about six or seven years ago, my husband had a mole on the right side of his temple that became infected and really bad. As the weeks passed on, progressively worse, pains began to shoot down through his chin and beyond his right eye burning and itching, a real cause for concern. But together we prayed and believed for healing. Then daily by faith, we applied the blood of Jesus to this tormented spot, ministering death to its continuance, binding its power to remain. We recognize it to be the work of Satan, the part of the curse our Lord Jesus delivered us from. And thus we claimed our exemption from sickness, from infirmity, from pain, from weakness, from disease. This was withstanding, refusing to accept the curse daily. As the months rolled on, the day came when my husband reached for the mole out of pure habit. And it was gone! It had dropped off sometime during the day. All that remained was a tiny scar showing where it had been.
“When we with stand (or stand against), we do not run. We take our stand.”
That was a word for somebody…
So that might be a word for somebody. Are you running in some way? Are you avoiding? Are you procrastinating? I believe the Lord is saying it’s time to make your stand. Stand against the whole. And we don’t stand alone. We stand with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says He takes hold together with us so that we can stand against the enemy. We just stand on His promises, and we stand united with the Holy Spirit through prayer.
She says…
“We take our stand by faith and then we hold our position by faith, relying in the power of the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony to give us the desired and needed victory. (Revelation 12:11) Satan has no answer to the blood of Jesus. He has no weapon to withstand its devastating effect upon him. He is absolutely vulnerable to its overcoming power. Knowing this, he hides what is happening to him and seeks to deceive us into settling for less than what we desired. Satan was defeated at Calvary so legally we are his victors through Christ who gave us power of attorney, according to Luke 10:19. However, he is not in prison, and so cunningly works his devilish craft to ever deceive and hide his limitations. Blessed is the believer who stands in the evil day, for verily he will or she will come forth with mighty victory.”
