Morning Chapel Prayer Playlist
Morning Chapel Prayer Today

Pastor Kevin…

Good morning, everyone. If you’re joining us online. Good to have you guys here. My name is Ken. I’m one of the pastors on staff here and along with Cindy, who will be leading here the second half of prayer this morning, we’re honored to connect with you guys in the spirit in prayer today.

Announcement…

Just one quick announcement. Don’t forget we’ve got the one and only Dr. Dennis Burke here this weekend at Living Word. So join us for one of our weekend services on Saturday night, Sunday morning online or in person.

James 5…

This morning, I thought I would start us off by sharing a couple different translations of a classic passage on prayer from James 5. I’m going to read four different translations of it. But I was reminded of this Wednesday night. I mentioned Wednesday night at the service that it’s true that life moves at the speed of prayer. I’ve learned that through the years that life can slow down when I engage in what I do just from a natural standpoint.

Doors open when you give yourself to prayer…

But when I lean in spiritually and I give myself to prayer, the most amazing thing happens. Doors open. Things begin to flow. And God’s plans seem to be fulfilled more quickly, more rapidly, more organically. Because the truth of the matter is God always intended that we would do life, that we would do the assignment on our lives, that we would do ministry, that we would do whatever we’re called to do, parenting, leadership in partnership with Him. And that’s why prayer is so important.

James 5:15 in NKJV…

And so in that same spirit, I wanted to read to you James chapter 5, which reminds us of the power behind prayer. James 5:15 from the New King James states: “And the prayer of faith will save the sick and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.” That’s a good word. If you feel like you’ve made a mistake or you’ve messed up or you’ve procrastinated or you’ve given yourself over to worry. Well, guess what? Today’s the day the Lord hath made. We get to rejoice and be glad in it and take advantage of His grace.

You don’t have to work for it.
You don’t have to strive for it.
You don’t have to try to be the best Christian in the world for it.

After a mess up, pray the prayer of repentance…

You simply have to bring your mistakes and your mess ups to the Father and say, “Lord, I repent. I change my mind. I turn and go in a different direction.” And as a result, “I take your mercy, your forgiveness, your great love toward me. I take it in to myself and I receive your forgiveness.”

So it says…

“And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed.”

James 5:16 goes on to say…
“The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man or woman avails much.”

James 5:15 in the Amplified Classic…

Now listen to that passage of James 6:16 in the Amplified Classic. It states that this way: “Confess to one another, therefore, your faults, your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins, and pray also for one another that you may be healed and restored to a spiritual tone of mind and heart. The earnest, heartfelt, continued prayer of a righteous man or woman makes tremendous power of available dynamic in its working.” I love that translation of the Amplified Classic.

James 5:15 in the Passion Translation…

Then the Passion translation puts it this way: “Confess and acknowledge and know you have offended one another, and then pray for one another to be instantly healed.” I believe somebody’s going to be instantly healed this morning. I don’t care if it’s 22 below or it’s 2026. The truth of the matter is there is as much power available today, on this day of the 23rd of January, 2026, as there was on the day that Jesus rose again from the dead. Power for what? Just to proclaim there’s power? No, power to be healed physically, emotionally, mentally, in your soul, in your finances perhaps, in relationships. There’s power! Amen.

The Lord is willing…

Jesus, in more than one situation in the Gospels, it’s recorded that He was asked, “Lord, are you willing?” And He said, “I am willing. I will.” He is willing to reveal and demonstrate His power in yours and my life today. We just need to believe. We just need to take it by faith. “Lord, I receive.” If you need healing in your body today, you need relief from pain, you’re dealing with some symptoms. You’ve received recently a negative doctor’s report or a really bad doctor’s report for that matter. I just encourage you to lean in and with a heart of faith, just say, “Lord, I need your help and I take hold of your healing power today for my situation. And I declare that your power is flowing in me and into the situation or into the body part or into my mind or my soul where I need it most… now! In the name of Jesus.”

Heaven is a flow…

Heaven is a flow. You’ve heard me say that. Heaven is a flow and it’s a flow of many things. It’s a flow fundamentally of His anointing and His presence. But within that presence inhabits His power. Within that presence is all things that are requisite and needed for us. Not just spiritually, but naturally, practically, mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, in whatever way! God has already gone ahead. The Gospel is good news, the last time I checked. And it’s good news that Jesus paid the price in and through His death, burial, and resurrection…

To make a way where there didn’t appear to a way for us
To make a way for there to be provision
To make a way for there to be healing

Healing!

Don’t forget, healing is part of the atonement. Healing is part of the redemptive work of our Lord. Healing is a part of your gift that you’ve received called salvation. Yes, it redeems you from an eternity in hell and into an eternity in heaven with God. But it also redeems you from sickness and redeems you from insufficiency and lack and poverty.

The Gospel is still good news…

The Bible says Jesus was made poor that you might be made rich in all things. So let your heart and mind and face be informed this morning. The Gospel is still good news.

And while we endeavor to preach good news to people who are far off, who are far from Jesus, we who have been maybe long-time believers and followers of Jesus still need to preach to ourselves and hear the good message of Jesus, our Savior. The good news of the Gospel, that His flow is still available and His flow is issuing forth from His throne room today. And it’s heading in your direction. So pay attention and take hold of heaven’s flow today. Take hold of heaven’s supply today.

We need to stir ourselves up in His realities…

Sometimes you just have to stir yourself up, your consciousness up in these realities. So that we don’t let them slip. In fact, the Bible actually states that we’re to give more earnest heed or more attention to those things, which we’ve already once upon a time learned, less we let them slip. So stir up those fundamentals regarding your redemption, regarding the good news of Jesus, because they’re just as true for you today as they were on the first day you gave your heart to Him.

He’s already done all that He’s going to do…

And it’s important to us as pray-ers because we’re not here to pray, to convince God that He should do something. He’s already done all that He’s going to do. He’s dotted every “I.” He’s crossed every “T.” He’s gone the extra mile…

To make a way for us
To send His love toward us
To offer us salvation
To forgive us of our most heinous sins
And to give us a fresh start every day, moment by moment if necessary.

He’s able to give us a fresh start…

So understand as pray-ers today, as believers today, we’re not praying to get something from God. We’ve already got a full account chock full of everything that we could require or desire in the plan and purpose of God. It’s already there in prayer. And our agreement and our faith and our prayer and our ability to make withdrawals on our storehouse, on our heavenly account that is chockfull of what we need today.

It’s not just a one-time transaction…

You see, prayer and this walk with God is not just a one-time transaction. It is a lifestyle. We are here to live and move and have our being in Him. And I say that because sometimes when we pray, we may not see an instantaneous healing. But that’s okay because we’ve got faith. We believe we receive when we pray. Whether we see it, feel it, or not.

But the truth of the matter is we’re on a journey. This is a lifestyle following after Him, knowing God. It’s a lifestyle relationship. Paul the apostle once said, “It’s my determined purpose that I might know Him intimately, personally, and for myself.”

Make a decision to no longer be a transactional Christian…

Make a decision today that today is going to be a new day in the sense that I’m not going to be a transactional Christian anymore. I’m going to be a relational follower of Jesus. Meaning, I may pray and I may not see the answer in the moment or the answer of that prayer show up in the moment, but as I continue to walk with Him and put my trust in Him and lean into Him with my mind, with my heart, with my words, with my actions, with my life, as I journey, I will, you will—I guarantee it—see the result of your prayer. You will see the result of redemption creating new body parts, setting you completely free once for all and for all time of that pain that you’ve been dealing with in your soul or in your body.

Looking back on the seasons of my life…

And I can preach this because I’ve lived a few years now. And I can look back on some seasons where I prayed for something and it didn’t happen on that day I prayed. But I stayed with it. And there may have been some times where I kind of either backed off or drifted, but I got back with it again. If you’ve drifted from your stand of faith for healing, for a loved one, for a dream that God plopped in your heart once upon a time, well guess what? The grace of God gives you permission to get back with it, to pick it up again, to pick up the promise again, to pick up the dream again, to pick up back on your place with God again if you drifted from Him.

Grace let’s us continue the journey with God…

Grace allows us to course correct and just get back with Him today, back in your place with Him. He’s not mad at you. He’s not “lording over us” and saying, “Well, you messed up Johnny Christian five years ago or the other day. My arms are crossed and I’m not too happy with you.” No! God is a loving, doting Heavenly Father, and He’s looking down on us saying, “My son, My daughter, come to Me. Come to Me boldly. I know you’ve messed up. I know you’re imperfect. I know you live in a fallen realm, but I’m a perfect and forgiving and loving God,” He would say. Let’s continue the journey with God.

Now, when I look back at my life, there are many things I prayed and believed God for. I’ve had some instances where they happened instantly or in a very short amount of time. There are other times where I had to just continue to stay the course, to not grow weary, to realize I was imperfect. I drifted at times from my faith. Not completely, but I just mean from my stand of faith for a particular thing. But then I realized grace gives me permission just to, “Okay, I’m going to get back with it today. What does the Word say about this situation?” And I just began to praise God and just thank Him once again for the answer.
