Morning Prayer Summary for Friday, March 23, 2018

Barb shared…

On Wednesday, in pre-service prayer with the youth, the Holy Spirit had given me a word for them during the day. And normally I just come to prayer and I help Pastor Dustin with the group. I didn’t know he wasn’t going to be there. So as I’m sitting there, he comes in and says, “I’m not going to be here at prayer so can you lead?” I said, “Sure, cuz I already got something.” The Holy Ghost was already prepared for me to take over.

Since last fall, I’ve been helping out and every single time I go to the youth, it seems like the Holy Ghost manifests Himself in a different way. And so on Wednesday before service, I was just getting ready and was talking to the Lord about the prayer service and the youth. Then He dropped this in my heart to tell them about yielding to the Holy Spirit and how there are rivers that come out of your belly. There are rivers in the Holy Ghost. Different rivers. And every time that I’m there, there seems to be a different demonstration of the Holy Ghost. And what He was trying to get over to them was most of the people in pre-service prayer are the praise and worship team. So the river they’re familiar with is praise and worship. So right off from the beginning, they go right to that river. They start singing in the Spirit. That’s not a bad thing. That’s the river that they’re familiar with so they move in that river.

Over the past several weeks, it’s been different. The Holy Ghost has allowed me to demonstrate and not because it’s in my mind when I come to the group. It’s just that He moves in that way. We’ve had joy, laughter in the group. People getting drunk in the Spirit. We’ve had prophesying in the group. We had one night where the Holy Ghost was teaching them to step out and sing new songs in the spirit. So all these different rivers that are all in Him and how if we just stay in this one river, we’re never actually going to experience the fullness that is in Him.

And then after being in this … on Wednesday, I thought that’s really interesting cuz when you get something by the Holy Ghost, an hour before service, you don’t really get to study anything out. So I thought I’d really like to kind of dig into that a little bit. So over the past few days, I was digging that out and this morning I was like, “Lord, what are we going to pray about today? What shall we do?” And He’s like, “Okay, you go back to this. I gave you this. So He was reminding me of the different rivers He’s taken me through.

And it’s so awesome in this place because you guys have experienced so many different rivers of the Holy Ghost here in prayer. We get burdens and we weep. There are so many different things that we see. The power of the Holy Ghost comes on people and they begin to declare things. That’s a river. People taking laps and having joy and rolling on the floor. All these are different rivers. And He reminded me of years ago I had never danced in the Holy Ghost. I mean really danced. I did this kind of thing. [demonstrating] You’re into the music and song but I’ve seen people dance in the Holy Ghost and what I was doing looked nothing like what they were doing. Because it was really the presence of God that came on them, the power of God, and it was like something that they weren’t doing. It was the Holy Ghost together with them.

So back when this building wasn’t yet finished. They had meetings with Ray McCauley. I had asked the Lord, “I really want to dance in the Holy Ghost. I mean, for real. Knowing that it’s not just me, that it’s You.” I would see people get in that river and it looked so amazing, so fun. And I wanted to experience that river. So the Holy Ghost was moving in the service and the presence of God was so strong in that place. All of a sudden, I just stepped out in the aisle and I started dancing. Then the Holy Ghost hit me, like the power came on me and I danced. I don’t even remember how long I danced or whatever. But all I know is I fell out. I know I fell out because I woke up on the ground. I don’t remember falling out. But apparently my friend said, “I danced so hard my shoes flew off.” I fell out and rolled up under the chairs!

When I got up I looked around. The usher had gotten my shoes. He put them on my chair. I said, “What happened?” That was amazing! Just asking Him to experience this river. Asking Him and Him just giving you that opportunity to go for it and from that time, once you experience the river, it’s so easy to get back in there. I could dance in the Holy Ghost right now and knowing I’m in the river with Him and not doing my own thing. You take that step and then He comes and takes hold together with you and you’re in the river. It’s amazing.

I told the kids on Wednesday, once you ask Him, if you saw somebody prophesy or declare or dance in the Holy Ghost or get drunk in the Spirit, ask Him to give you that river. You want to step into that river, because they come from here, right? He’s on the inside of you. Out of your belly, John 7:38, out of your belly shall flow rivers. So we have access to all these different rivers.

Several years ago, I had a dream. My husband has “God dreams” all the time. It has, as Sid Roth says, “provoked me into jealously in the spirit.” I’m like, “How come you get dreams all the time?” Anyway, I had this dream. We were standing in a river and there were big wall like stone like it had been cut out of a mountain. This stream cut its way through a mountain. We were standing in this river and I’m with my family. I’m holding my younger daughter’s hand and we were all in the water. Waves would come down the river and I’d do this because I didn’t want to get wet. We’re all enjoying the water. All of a sudden, there’s this big wave I see coming. You think, “There’s no waves in a river.” Well, it depends on what happens at the top. Something big happens at the top of the river and it makes a big wave. In California, we had a dam near us that broke. We saw a lot of water come out until we had to flee our house because this huge wave was headed our way.

So this wave is coming. You all know my husband who is kind of the “go for it” let’s just jump in head first. That’s what he did. He dove into the wave. I’m the toe tipper. How does the water feel? I don’t want to get all wet. The wave is coming and I’m trying not to get all wet. But the wave was so huge, that it completely overcame us and we were drenched. The Holy Ghost was saying, “I’m going to be so big in these days that even if you try to get out of the way, I’m going to get you.” If you just open your heart a little with the toe dip, He’s able to come in, in such a big way and take you in these different streams. Once you experience Him in that way, you can experience Him again and again.

When you experience Him in one river, it’s easier to access all the other rivers. It’s like, “I know God in prayer. Sure I can enter this river, get drunk in the Holy Ghost… take a lap in the Spirit… dance in the Holy Ghost… sure I can prophesy… I can walk up to that person and tell them what’s going on in their life and how God is going to deliver them…”

I wanted to share a couple things from commentaries on John 7:38, 39: “So on the last day that great day of the feast Jesus stood out and cried saying, If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

This one is my favorite.

“If we are thirsty, we can come to the Lord Jesus and drink of Him. But if we encounter others in need, we can’t just pour out a cupful of Jesus and hand it to them. We must minister to their needs out of the powerful, refreshing, renewing spring of Christ within us. Therefore, we must keep on drinking from Him if He is going to meet the needs of others through us.”

So He says come to Me and drink. So that’s what we do first. We come and drink so we can move in those rivers. When those rivers begin to flow, they flow out of us to help people, those around us.

“The Word flows though us not on the basis of how many Scriptures we know, but from our dwelling or living in Christ, the source of all life. Thus we must ever be opening-the connection and drinking from Christ by abiding in His Word. Otherwise, we will not quench our own inner thirst, nor the thirst of others.”

I was talking to someone this past week and she said, “I had to go to the doctor because I had a fever” and blah, blah, blah. She said, “I got there and they said you’re dehydrated.” I said, “You’re dehydrated! How can you not know you’re dehydrated.” But apparently, you cannot know you’re dehydrated. So for us, you may not even recognize that you’re dehydrated, that you need to rehydrate in the Holy Ghost. All of us are ministers. Make sure you are not thirsty. Make sure that you are drinking and getting filled. Because then that power is able to flow out of you.

I was reading this from this pastor. I thought it was funny. It’s a good thing to remember. His name was Roger D. Willmore.

“Over thirty years ago, when I was a very young pastor still adjusting to all the demands that fall upon one in pastoral ministry, I found myself neglecting my study in order to meet other needs. One Sunday evening following the worship service a dear lady—a person who loved and cared for her pastor—said to me, “Pastor, I can hear the dipper banging against the bottom of the bucket.” I have never in all these years gotten over that remark. It was her way of admonishing me to not neglect my time in the Word and with the Lord. My pitcher was empty … and she knew it. What about your life, pastor? Do you have supernatural power in your life and ministry? What is your power source? Are you weary and worn-out—can people hear the dipper banging against the bottom of your bucket? Or are you vibrant and victorious?”

That’s where I wanted to start with the body because I know a lot of believers come to church. Maybe they get fed and then they go out and never allow the rivers to flow. “I’m filled. I’m good. Praise the Lord!” And they never let the rivers flow out to anyone else. And that’s what the rivers are for. It’s for you to get drenched and filled. If the river is flowing through you, you’re going to be wet, soaked! But all those rivers you’re experiencing are meant to flow out to everyone else. And for the body of Christ to actually do that, to not just be filled but to step out and let those rivers flow. Hallelujah!
