Prayer Summary for September 24

The following commentary to John 7:38, 39 was taken from The Revival Study Bible:

Flow rivers of living water

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is power, the understanding of His Word, and the glory of God on your life. Whenever the Lord wants to play His harp, He tunes it up and plays with His own fingers, speaking and singing in any language He wishes. The man who hears you speak a message right from the throne, falls down and seeks God and gets up to report that God is in you of a truth. The baptism of the Holy Spirit makes you more humble and fills you with divine love. Through Spirit baptism, the grace and fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22–23) are manifest. When you get your baptism with the Holy Spirit, you will surely go up into the mountain with Christ. If you want to know what it is to praise God and have the joy of the Lord in your soul that flows like a mighty river, tarry and get your personal Pentecost. He keeps the rivers flowing in your soul that you may be fit for irrigation wherever you go.

The following email sent from The Sanctuary Church in Denver Colorado:

Dear All,

This is so sad… Here is a message from Philip Yancey that was sent to both Peter and Frances (Pastors of The Sanctuary Church in Denver, CO).

A friend just got a text message from her brother asking her to shower him and his parish in prayer. He is part of a mission and ISIS has taken over the town they are in today. He said ISIS is systematically going house to house to all the Christians and asking the children to denounce Jesus. He said so far not one child has. And so far all have consequently been killed. But not the parents. The UN has withdrawn and the missionaries are on their own. They are determined to stick it out for the sake of the families – even if it means their own deaths. He is very afraid, has no idea how to even begin ministering to these families who have seen their children martyred. Yet he says he knows God has called him for some reason to be his voice and hands at this place at this time. Even so, he is begging prayers for his courage to live out his vocation in such dire circumstances. And like the children, accept martyrdom if he is called to do so. She asked me to ask everyone we know to please pray for them. These brave parents instilled such a fervent faith in their children that they chose martyrdom. Please surround them in their loss with your prayers for hope and perseverance.

She was able to talk to her brother briefly by phone. She didn’t say it but I believe she believes it will be their last conversation. Pray for her too. She said he just kept asking her to help him know what to do and do it. She told him to tell the families we ARE praying for them and they are not alone or forgotten — no matter what. Her e-mail broke my heart. Please keep all in your prayers. Thanks.

This came this morning … just a few minutes ago I received the following text message on my phone from Sean Malone who leads Crisis Relief International (CRI). We then spoke briefly on the phone and I assured him that we would share this urgent prayer need with all of our contacts.

“We lost the city of Queragosh (Qaraqosh). It fell to ISIS and they are beheading children systematically. This is the city we have been smuggling food to. ISIS has pushed back Peshmerga (Kurdish forces) and is within 10 minutes of where our CRI team is working. Thousands more fled into the city of Erbil last night. The UN evacuated its staff in Erbil. Our team is unmoved and will stay. Prayer cover needed!”

Please pray sincerely for the deliverance of the people of Northern Iraq from the terrible advancement of ISIS and its extreme Islamic goals for mass conversion or death for Christians across this region. May I plead with you not to ignore this email. Do not forward it before you have prayed through it. Then send it to as many people as possible. Send it to friends and Christians you may know. Send it to your prayer group. Send it to your pastor and phone him/her to pray on Sunday during the service—making a special time of prayer for this. We need to stand in the gap for our fellow Christians

We draw a blood line that cannot be crossed over in Jesus’ name
Overcoming power by the blood and by the Spirit!
We plead the blood over every branch of our military
Sending out a call over all nations to rise up against this evil force in Jesus’ name
Calling leaders of all nations to rise up and take their right places
Moving into right positions at the right time in order to turn around evil plans
We thank You, Father, for an awakening for the body of Christ
Looking up to heaven!
Arising up in power and direction in the plans and purposes in all nations
We do not cease to pray by the Spirit lifting up those things we do not know
Thank You, Father, for supernatural details concerning how to move in these days in Jesus’ name
Father, we come by the blood in these things we lift before You
Health and restoration right now in Jesus’ name
Jesus, You make a way where their seems to be no way
Thank You, Father, for heaven’s plans and ideas coming forth!
A strengthening for every part of the body
Rising up and taking their places and declaring God’s will and declaring God’s way!
Thank You, Father, for wisdom from on high—we receive it
Declaring protection for the land of Israel in Jesus’ name
Entering in to greater days!
Real steady—walking by faith
We look to you and move with You alone, Father
Watching in the Spirit
Father, let Your name be lifted up above the heads of Your foes
Jesus, Your name is above every other name
Be lifted up in this earth!
Father, we open up our hearts wide for You to move through us
Thank You for adding to Your kingdom this day
We give You all the praise and all the glory in Jesus’ name
