Prayer Summary for November 5

The following excerpt is taken from God’s Healing Word by Trina Hankins:

Say No to Worry

One of the things keeping us awake is anxiety or stress. Anxiety, worry and the pressures of life are known causes of high blood pressure, digestion problems and heart disease. The Anglo-Saxon word for anxiety means “to strangle or choke.” Many things we worry about never happen and have to do with the natural things of life. Jesus addressed them in Matthew 6 as He taught about living differently from those who did not have a covenant relationship with God. Instead of worrying, we can pray, trust God and get busy seeking His kingdom first. Our Father in Heaven knows what we have need of.

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6, 7 (Amp.)

I’ll never forget a lesson my dad taught me when I was about seventeen. He had been watching me worrying and stressing out about a decision I had to make. I was really working up a good anxiety attack. He stopped me and gave me these scriptures from Philippians 4. He said, “Trina, pray about that specific thing, thank God for helping you to make the right decision. Then lie down and go to sleep. In the morning when you wake up, the answer will come to you and you’ll know exactly what to do.” I remember doing what daddy said and just as he said, I had the answer before I opened my eyes!

Scripture Focus…

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

“The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.” II Corinthians 10:6 (The Message)
