Prayer Summary for December 16

Scripture Reference…

“Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).” Ephesians 6:18 Amp.

The following commentary was taken from The Message Bible:

Ephesians 6:18 Praying Always

Do you need nothing? Then, you do not know your poverty. Have you no mercy to ask of God? Then, may the Lord’s mercy show you your misery! A prayerless soul is a Christless soul. Prayer is the lisping the believing infant the shout of the fighting believer, the requiem of the dying saint falling asleep in Jesus. It is the breath, the watchword, the comfort, the strength, the honor of a Christian. If you be a child of God, you will seek your Father’s face, and live in your Father’s love. Pray that this year you may be holy, humble, zealous, and patient; have closer communion with Christ, and enter more often into the banqueting house of His love. Pray that you be an example and a blessing unto others, and that you may live more to the glory of your Master.

The following excerpt was taken from Tongues: Beyond the Upper Room by Kenneth E. Hagin:

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication IN THE SPIRIT, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication FOR ALL SAINTS.” Ephesians 6:18

When we pray with other tongues, we are able to not only build ourselves up, but also to fulfill God’s command to pray for all the saints. There is no way we could pray for all saints with our understanding because in the natural we don’t know all the saints. But God has provided this means of supernatural communication, apart from our understanding, to enable us to do just that.

If Only I Had Understood

It would be good to just stop here for a moment and think about the amazing thing God has done for us: He has provided a way for us whereby our spirits may pray apart from our minds:

“For if I pray in an unknown tongue, MY SPIRIT PRAYETH…” (1 Cor. 14:14). “Through this gift of speaking with tongues, our spirits can now communicate directly with God, Who is a spirit being.

You see, once you get filled with the Spirit, for the first time your own spirit can talk directly to God. Before that, you could talk to God with your mind and, of course, your emotions were involved. But speaking in tongues is a means of spirit-to-Spirit communication.

You may remember what Jesus said to the woman at the well of Samaria (John 4:4–26). The woman said to Jesus, “Our forefathers worshiped God in this mountain, but the Jews say we have to worship God in Jerusalem. What do You say about it?”

When Jesus answered, He didn’t say that either of those views was right. Instead, He said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (v. 24). We don’t have to worship God on a mountain in Samaria, and we don’t have to worship Him in Jerusalem. God is a spirit being, and we can worship Him anywhere!

However, Jesus said that the time has come when you must worship God in spirit and in truth because He is Spirit. This gives you another indication of the value of speaking in tongues. When you pray in tongues, your spirit man is in direct contact with God, Who is a Spirit. Remember, Paul said that when you’re praying in an unknown tongue, your spirit prays (1 Cor. 14:14). You’re talking directly to God in a divine, supernatural way.

Prayed…

Father, as we pray in the spirit, we believe to cover the body of Christ
Believing our spirit will pray out those needful things we are not aware of
Thank You, Father, for the baptism and infilling of Your precious Holy Spirit
We yield to Your Spirit in prayer—praying in tongues
Through Your Spirit, we root out and remove things that need clearing out
STOP IT NOW!—be removed in Jesus’ name
Declaring those things terminated and cut off—calling it finished by the blood of the Lamb

The following was shared by Pastor Ray:

I want to describe to you what I saw in my spirit as we were praying in tongues. I saw what looked like a wall, and it appeared there was absolutely no way of getting beyond or through it. There was no door or opening. It looked blocked, like a complete wall. But as I got down just a little bit, I could see there was an opening. It was actually a false wall, but it looked like it was a completed wall. As I looked further, I could see there was a place where a portion of the wall stood out further than the other portion and there was a way through, a way out into victory. I don’t know how else to describe it. It was a lie! IT IS A LIE! For there is a way through and into the new for me and you, for the BODY… Ha, ha, ha! …to get up, and look up, and move on through! To not quit, give up, or turn around or sit down with a big fat frown but to look up and look ahead and go through and let our mouths SPEAK IT forth and DECLARE IT forth. For by the Spirit, there is always a way through—a way out and a way over. So even the things that are impossible… they have been presented as impossibilities with no way out—we, today, say “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” The church, the body, the believers, the saints ARE GOING THROUGH in Jesus’ name. Halleluiah!

Continued Praying…

Thank You, Father, that we are more and more being transformed by Your Spirit
Fired and ignited by Your Spirit—looking more like Jesus every day
We purpose to walk in Love and give it out for others to receive
Pleading the blood over the days before and after Christmas—declaring we will go through to victory in Jesus’ name
We believe the words we prayed out today in the Spirit have accomplished what they were sent out to do
Thank You, Father, that you never change and Your Word in true
For Your mercy, kindness, and goodness
We give you all the praise and honor and thank You it in Jesus’ name
