Prayer Summary for April 12

Prayed…

Jesus, we turn our eyes toward You
You are the truth that we stand on and You are our way maker
Our trust is upon You
Holy Spirit, we welcome You today
Help us to be filled more than we were yesterday, for today is a new day

Scripture Focus…

(7) “But the end and culmination of all things has now come near; keep sound minded and self-restrained and alert therefore for [the practice of] prayer. (8) Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. (9) Practice hospitality to one another (those of the household of faith). [Be hospitable, be a lover of strangers, with brotherly affection for the unknown guests, the foreigners, the poor, and all others who come your way who are of Christ’s body.] And [in each instance] do it ungrudgingly (cordially and graciously, without complaining but as representing Him). (10) As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [befits] good trustees of God’s many-sided grace [faithful stewards of the extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favor]. (11) Whoever speaks, [let him do it as one who utters] oracles of God; whoever renders service, [let him do it] as with the strength which God furnishes abundantly, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ (the Messiah). To Him be the glory and dominion forever and ever (through endless ages). Amen (so be it).”
(1 Pet. 4:7–11 Amp.)

The following commentary to 1 Peter 4:7–11 is taken from The Revival Study Bible:

What If You Had Only Twenty-Four Hours to Live
1 Peter 4:7–11

What would you change if you only had twenty-four hours to live? What would you do and what would you not do if you knew that a countdown had started? Peter writes here that “the end of all things is at hand.” And he gives us four attitudes to pursue in these end times.

Always Alert (4:7)
The word alert means to emphasize what is correct and to prioritize what is essential. The opposite of alert or sober is drunkenness. And Peter was saying, “Don’t let anything impair your judgment.”

Years ago, the Chinese built the famous Great Wall of China to protect them from the barbaric hordes from the north. It was so high they knew no one could climb it, and so thick no one could break it down. But during the first one hundred years of the wall’s existence, China was invaded three times. Not once did the barbaric hordes break down the wall or climb over the top. Each time they bribed the gatekeeper and marched right through the gates. Your eyes, ears, and mind are the gatekeepers to the heart; do not let them be bribed.

Always Affectionate (4:8–9)
To be fervent in love is to be stretched in love. If you want to know what this kind of love is all about, look at John 15:12–17. The passage ends and begins with the same command to “love one another.” What is in between? Biblical love is always sacrificial, not a feeling but an activity, one of intimacy initiated and productive.

Always Available (4:10–11)
No one is without significance in the body of Christ. Every gift counts. Good stewardship of the grace of God involves not just staying saved but being used by God. Peter says to employ that gift.

Always Adoring (4:11)
It always comes back to giving God the glory in what we do.

Continued Praying…

Father, we lift our eyes and hearts to You
You are ALWAYS faithful!
Thank You for moving on our behalf even when we were unaware
The ministry of Your Spirit is so beautiful
Jesus, thank You for the blood that was shed on the cross for us
You took all that beating and pain for our sins
There is nothing that is too big or too small that we cannot do through You

A Word of the Lord came forth:

“Don’t ever take a vacation from Me! Don’t put your trust in another plan, or in another way, or in another man. But keep your face looking up, keep your trust tuned up, and walk by faith, and you will see your destiny fulfilled the way I have seen it, for I have created it. I put it within you! From the beginning of time, I knew what you would be destined for; so don’t back off, don’t separate yourself from My presence, the ministry of My love, My power by My Spirit, that will keep you moving, keep you seated in heaven, keep you moving out to the plan and the purpose that I have called you to. In that, there is no desperation, there is just revelation. In that, there is no despair, there is the presence, My presence, everywhere. So drink Me! Taste and see that I am good, and My mercy and My grace will take you all the way through to the complete and absolute finish of your race.”
