Prayer Summary for Thursday, September 29, 2016

Jerre led in worship and shared…

I pray that, like David said, the precepts of the Lord are the words of my song. I remember as a new Christian sitting on the living room floor reading that from the Word. As I worshiped the Lord, I lifted up my guitar to Him and said, “Father, I’ll sing Your song only.” I was a music buff then and liked all the latest and greatest. And in that day, there wasn’t much out there. I remember when we added a base player to the church band. His pastor before told him that his base was of the Devil. So he put it in the driveway and was going to take his truck and run over it. But he just couldn’t do it. Thank God! Then God showed him that the loud crashing cymbals and everything that was created was to give glory to God.

We have a choice. Do we sing the world’s song? Or do we sanctify ourselves and listen to that which is pure and lovely and of a good report? As for me and my house, we choose to sing the Lord’s song. And we have another choice. To take the Word of God and prove the songs that come forth from the psalmists. Is it Word? Or is it not?

I don’t know why I’m sharing this. It just came bubbling out of my heart.

But make a choice. Don’t listen to the trash of the world. It only brings you down. There’s nothing good. Why fill a room with an empty tune. For the song of this hour must have the power of God in it to set the captives free. Say this: I love the Lord’s song.

Continued singing and then shared…

When I was on my way here, I was praying in the Holy Ghost in my car. Sometimes I have some “car fires.” He said a few things to me today. I started singing this song He gave me a long time ago. “I’ve got love, joy, peace in the Holy Ghost.” And He said, “If your Christian walk has lost its joy, then you’ve made it nothing but religion.” Then He said, “Check your dipstick.” How many know what I mean by that? Cars? The oil of the Holy Ghost… are you a couple quarts low? Then fill’er up! Amen! Then He said, “The joy of the Lord is your strength to pray.”

Pastor Ray shared…

That is so good. Are you a quart low?

That reminds me of a time when Sandy and I went on a missions prayer tour to Amsterdam and a city in France with Pastor Kent and Pam and some other people. When we were there, Kent got a call from a pastor about a minister that ministered to the prostitutes in the “red light” district of Amsterdam. He needed to be lifted up. So Pastor Kent asked, “Who wants to go?” So four of us went with him. We’re walking in the red light district. It’s like you had to keep looking ahead, don’t look to the left. Just keep walking. There were windows in the buildings [where the women stood scantily clad] and you didn’t want to look in the windows there.

We got to the address. There is no elevator and this guy is on the top floor and it’s a spiral staircase going up. When we got there, this man said he was so down because he didn’t feel like he was having an effect. He wasn’t able to help a lot of people there. We put him in a chair and we all got around him and prayed. The hot seat! We’re praying in other tongues, and speaking out words the Holy Ghost gave us to pray. While we were praying, I started to laugh in the middle of our praying. So we’re praying the supply of the Holy Ghost into him. His dipstick was low! He was low! That sounds weird to say but he was low on the oil of the Holy Ghost!

When we were done praying for him, he asked, “Who was it that was laughing all the time?” He said, “That’s what ministered to me the most.”

Yesterday I read something that blessed me all day. The prayer that Jesus prayed for us. John 17:20–21. He says, “Neither for these alone do I pray….” He had been talking about all the disciples, the people He had ministered to on earth when He was here. “…[it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching, that they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.” Unity!

So the first thing in verse 13 that He talked about was “now I’m coming to you and I say these things while I’m still in the world so that My joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them, that they may experience my delight fulfilled in them and My enjoyment may be perfected in their own souls that they may have My gladness within them filling their hearts.”

That’s one of the first things He prayed for us, that His joy would be in us. It’s not just laughing. The world can laugh. There are comedians that can make you laugh. One time I came out of my office and Pastor Mac was standing there. He started talking to me about some situation where the Devil was just going crazy. He said, “All it makes me want to do is laugh. Just laugh! There’s nothing else I can do but just laugh at him.”

Brother Hagin always used the same two scriptures concerning prayer so every time he came here. In the mornings, we’d always have corporate prayer in the sanctuary. He’d give us these two scriptures and then he’d turn around, kneel down at the chair and begin praying in other tongues. So that’s what we did too. Corporately together.

The first verse is John 15:7, “If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.” We the word “abide” means to be, to dwell, to rest, to continue, to stand firm, be stationary, to tarry, to continue permanently, to wait for, to be prepared for, to await, to endure, to sustain, and to remain. That’s abiding in Him.

In verse 4, he said, “dwell in me and I will dwell in you.” Do we get that? We can’t do anything without Him. When Jerre was talking about the world’s ways and the world’s songs, if we dwell in those, we can’t do the rest of this verse. We can’t ask whatever… We can but it won’t work, because the first part, the beginning of that verse is “if” you live in Me and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will and it shall be done for you.

The other scripture that he always used in Ephesians 6:18. He said these two verses cover everything about prayer. “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”

Praying in the spirit is not just praying in other tongues. It’s praying directed by the Spirit. This is for the church, for believers. This is talking about the people of God. We lift one another up, like that man in Amsterdam. We lifted him up. It took joy to lift him up out of that low place in his life. For us as pray-ers, we have to stay alert. Keep a watch. Keep watching.

Erika shared…

Paul said “by your prayers and the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ which is able to save my soul…” There’s a warfare that happens in the soul—the mind, will, and emotions. And it’s being accosted in these days by Satan in a way that has not been before. It’s on every side wherever we go. So the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, His Word given by His Spirit, His Word in you as a spirit being delivering that Word by the Spirit is able to assist and help members of the body of Christ. We can’t take that lightly. This is not an insignificant thing. Because if you take that lightly, then you will take the prayer of Jesus slightly that said that He prayed for us that his joy that His gladness, that encouragement would come to us, that we would be one… is that prayer still working? Yes. So the bountiful supply of the spirit of Jesus Christ must come forth more and more and more in the body of Christ so that we would be all that He ordained us to be. Just like Jesus. So that the world would see and know. That’s wholeness. That’s soundness in the body of Christ. And to go forth from that place to minister the very life of God to those in the world, that’s empowerment in the church.

Prayed…

Father, we’re looking for a greater level and greater measure
We have in You everything we need in Christ Jesus
Let us by Your mercy and grace appropriate and draw from the well of salvation
To allow the flow of the Holy Ghost to come forth to a greater degree
We give ourselves to You
To keep that oil level up, Father
To an overflow and abundance
We believe for a greater release of that to the world and the Church to minister to our brothers and sisters
We say, “here we are”
We cooperate with You, Father
You are everything to us… our life and breath
We thank You for the distinguishing marks upon the Church
Marked so the world wouldn’t have to wonder… they will know… those that have turned the world upside down are here among us… that’s our prayer
Get unstuck from the mundane, from the status quo and go into all the world
I bind that spirit of fear that lying demon that says you’re not good enough… you not equipped enough… you’re not old enough… you’re not wise enough… we bind that spirit of fear and take authority over it… you are forbidden in Jesus’ name
For perfect love casts out fear
