Prayer Summary for October 20

The following excerpt was taken from Ablaze for God by Wesley Duewel:

1. The anointing gives you liberty and skill. The Spirit’s anointing frees from any kind of fear—fear of failure, of the future, and of your overwhelming task. He frees from fear of Satan and of people, which is always a snare (Prov. 29:25). He gives strong confidence in God, His Word, and in His wisdom and power.

As He touches and anoints, giving added skill and guidance, we begin to realize that our task is really more His responsibility than ours. The church is His church, the cause is His cause, the name that must be exalted is the name of Jesus. The Spirit enables us to cast our anxiety on God (1 Peter 5:7), and depend on God for all we need to making our ministry effective.

2. The anointing illumines God’s Word. The anointing of the Spirit may bring special illumination on the Scripture both while you prepare and while you’re speaking, teaching, or explaining Scripture. Finney tells us, “I almost always get my subjects on my knees in prayer; and it has been a common experience with me, upon receiving a subject from the Holy Spirit, to have it make so strong an impression on my mind as to make me tremble, so that I could with difficulty write. When subjects are thus given me that seem to go through me, body and soul, I can in a few moments make out an outline that enables me to retain the view presented by the Spirit. I find that such sermons always fell with great power upon the people.”

Jesus promised concerning the Spirit, “He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you” (John 16:14–15). He also said, “He will guide you into all truth” (v. 13). The Spirit answers the prayer, “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” (Ps. 119: 18). He shows us that beautiful unity of Scripture and how one verse shines light on another. He inspired the Scripture originally, so He is the One now to help us understand its depths. There are whole dimensions of meaning that we will miss unless He illumines us.

3. The anointing teaches. The teaching ministry of the Spirit as He anoints is closely related to His illumination. “The anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him” (1 John 2:27). Jesus is your great Teacher. He was called Master, i.e., Teacher.

4. The anointing confers spiritual authority. The Spirit enables you to exercise the authority in prayer in which you have as a child of God (Eph. 3: 12). This includes confident boldness in coming to the throne of grace and a holy confidence and boldness in claiming the promises of God (Heb. 4:16; 10:19-22). We have a tremendous responsibility to intercede for our people and to use our authority in prayer for them again and again.

5. The anointing clothes with God’s power. Micah testified, “I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD… and with might” (Mic. 3:8). Jesus commanded His disciples (both the apostles and the laity and both men and women) to delay the beginning of their witness and ministry and wait on God “until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).

6. The anointing places. God’s seal upon you. It is the evidence of divine approval. The Spirit gives this for the sake of the ones ministered to, but it is also God’s affirmation of you as His representative and of your ministry on His behalf.

7. The anointing brings results. The anointing does not guarantee your acceptance, that crowds will attend your ministry, or that multitudes of people will be led to Christ. But God does not always measure success as we do. The anointing will produce the Spirit’s intended results. God has many purposes for the ministry of HIS Spirit-filled servants. God’s purpose may be new comfort for His people, new faith and expectancy, new vision of responsibility, new burden for evangelism and world evangelism, new burden for revival, new financial support for God’s cause, new compassion for the needy, new sense of divine call to Christian service, new unity of the Spirit. God always has multiple holy purposes to accomplish. He may fulfill many of these in one service, one visit, one conversation, or one gathering.

Annie led us in singing…

Pastor Ray shared…

When we were singing, the part that stood out to me was “the blind will see.” I just read this morning in the book of John about the man who had been blind since birth and how some of the people asked Jesus who was to blame. Was it his parents’ faults? Was it his fault? Jesus’ response was that they were looking at the wrong side of it. You should be looking at what He can do; what can be done. That’s when He spit in the dust and made this little deal and put it on his eyes and told him to wash and he was healed.

The Pharisees were, first of all, ticked off that he was actually healed on the Sabbath. They had their eyes over on a religious deal. They couldn’t accept it. They wanted to know who did it and how did they do it. So when they explained it to him they thought this isn’t the same young man. This is somebody else. They denied it, denied it, denied it. Then they got his parents and they tried to get something out of them, but all they would say was this is our son and he was blind and now he can see. We don’t know how it happened and we don’t know who did it. They were real careful to say what they said because if they sided with Jesus, they would be kicked out of the Temple.

The Pharisees went back and questioned him again over and over and finally he said maybe you are so interested because you want to join up on His side. Well that ticked them off all the more. That’s not what they wanted to hear. The Bible says they just kicked Him out on the street. But you know Jesus met up with him again and He said “do you believe?” He said “who am I supposed to believe in?” And Jesus made the young man aware of who He was and he said “yes I do believe.”

There is something about that in the day in which we live where it seems like when negative things happen, the first thing that a lot of times people want to do is blame somebody. Well it’s their fault. They did this. They did that. They did the other thing. But we should always be over on the side of what can be done and what the Word says shall be done. Doing what we can do. We are talking about the anointing. It breaks yokes, breaks chains, it sets the captives free. We have been called to be free; free to speak, free to hear, and free to pray. Hallelujah!

Prayed…

Thank You for anointing us with Your Spirit
New direction by the Holy Spirit
Yielding to the anointing and listening
Contending to move into higher authority

Word of the Lord came forth…

It is the Holy Spirit in us causing these changes to take place. Maybe it is a chain that needs to be broken and severed and cut away. By the power of the Holy Spirit, under the anointing we can do it when we believe and receive and expect what He is telling us to do. We can go through. We can go where we never gone before. We must stand in new positions in His power and His grace. There is a call that has already been given out for the Church to begin to stand up in every nation and take its place of authority under the anointing and call the things that are not as though they were. To speak words of authority from heaven—speak it and speak it and speak it and see it and receive it and watch it come to pass. The oil of the Spirit removes all rust. Things and words that have not been spoken, steps that have not been taken, some gifts have laid dormant but now is the time for the Church to rise up and take its position of power and call those forth in Jesus’ name. The anointing breaks bondages, breaks holds, break free of deception of every religious plan or religious work or religious declaration or law and be free and walk in liberty and watch limitations be removed. Get them out of the way. See restoration come. Claim it! Declare it! Speak it forth and walk on a higher lever and walk on a new plane with eyes wide open seeing the way that we should go.

Continued praying…

Cooperating—speaking words we have never spoken before
Calling for low places up and high places down
Today is the day!
Stop blending in and start standing under the anointing and in the authority
Speaking and walking in love
New utterance and greater revelation by the Spirit
Stepping away from fear and anxiety
Calling those to turn in the right way
Pain get out of the body—every kind of pain be removed!
Arms, hands, hearts declaring them to be free from pain in Jesus’ name
The anointing breaks every yoke, every symptom in Jesus’ name
Healing, wholeness, strength—enabling the body of Christ to move into its place
Whole companies connected to other companies of believers going in the same way
Turning into another man! That’s the giant rising up and waking in liberty!
Families, marriages, churches, missionaries will be better
An enablement by the power of the Holy Ghost
A new army rising up and pressing ahead
Step by step by step—strong in the Lord
Overcoming every adversary and hindrance in Jesus’ name
Praying under the anointing all the way through!
It’s the glory, the holy presence of the Holy Spirit Himself
Calling those that have left the Church to come back and be restored better than before
Restoration days—Jubilee!

Annie singing in the Spirit…

Liberty throughout the land; liberty throughout the land
To all the inhabitance the acceptable year of our God
Deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind
Liberty to all who are oppressed and deliverance to all who are captive
Deliverance to all those who are bound
And good news, good news, good news to the poor
You don’t have to be poor anymore
Good news, good news, the captives are set free for it is the year of jubilee
Every debt is canceled; every debt is canceled
Canceled by the blood of the Son
Who took every debt that we might have had on our accounts
But He canceled it by His blood
Now we go free, we go free, we go free
In this year of Jubilee
We’ve been made free; He set us free in this year of Jubilee

Continued praying…

Thank You, Father, for all that You have done for us individually
For giving us a place with You corporately
Thank You for sending Your Son
That Your love is reigning in and through us!
Thank You for this blessed holy day—we believe to be in the right place
