Understanding the Principles of Blessing

My friend Oral Roberts used to say, “Miracles are either coming to you or passing you by every day.”

Blessing Principle #1:
Be Earnest in Our Expectations

The apostle Paul paints the perfect picture of earnest expectation when he speaks of our “joy in Christ” in his letter to the Philippians. At the time his letter was penned, Paul was in prison facing death. The fact that Paul could be in the worst prison of its time and still write what most theologians agree was the happiest letter he’d ever written is an amazing thing.

Paul said, For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation (Philippians 1:19–20). Notice that Paul didn’t say he hoped his situation would turn out or that he would like to see things turn out. He said, “I know this will turn out…according to my earnest expectation.”

The word Paul used, which is translated earnest in English, means “in the sense of watching, intense anticipation.” Because the blessing of God was in operation in Paul’s life, he asserted with intense anticipation and assurance that he was going to come out of that prison.

Blessings #2:
Believe Jesus for What We Expect

Jesus made it clear that everything that happens in our life is in direct proportion to what we believe: “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:23–24).

Blessing Principle #3:
Be Confident in Our Expectations

The dictionary defines confidence as “faith or belief that one will act in a right, proper, or effective way,” as in having confidence in a leader. It also describes confidence as “the quality or state of being certain.”

For the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught (Proverbs 3:26, bold added).

…because God himself is our very confidence, we can be certain that the expectations that come from Him will be fulfilled. This is just the kind of confidence Paul had as he awaited his deliverance from prison. He said, And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you (Philippians 1:25 KJV, bold added.)

What Paul was saying was, “I’m not dying here. I am not going to die in this stinking prison. I know I will live and continue to see you.” How was he going to continue to see them if he didn’t get out of prison? What he meant was, “I’ve heard from God. I’m not through; I haven’t finished my course. That guard can come in here every day and threaten me, but what he says doesn’t faze me at all.”

In Acts 20:24, Paul says, But none of these things move me. Why? Because he was confident in his expectation and in the God of his expectation, who said through the prophet Isaiah, For thus says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15, bold added). In other words, confidence in our God-given expectations will give us the strength to walk through anything the world can throw our direction.

A Word of the Lord came forth…

“In order for that to change, you will have to take your hand off the wheel, so to speak. You will have to take your hands off the direction, or the wheel, or the way you have been going. ‘In other words, release your control and give it over to me,’ saith the Lord. “Give it to Me! Give it ALL to Me!

“I will do what you need to have done, because I have a plan and in that plan you have already won! You have victory! You have victory, because your victory is in Me! And on the cross, it was done and it will continually be manifested and continually bless you in your plan that I put within you.

“So, release your control! Give it to Me! Stay on My Word! Stay STRONG on My Word! Declare it out of your lips! Declare it from your mouth and speak it over and over and over, for it is life, help, health, strength, and deliverance for you. And it will bring you into a place that you can absolutely truthfully say, ‘Carefree!’”

Prayed…

We move into the political arena and lift up the positions of authority
Watching over what we say
That must be changed, rearranged, and opened!
We will not back away from it but will continue to press ahead
Applying the blood of Jesus in advance over all of the decisions
Praying for an adjustment that must be made!
Lord, reveal those things that it might be well with the Church!
It is not mental, but spiritual
We break wrong patterns in Jesus’ name!
Father, we stand in agreement for the transfer of power
We pray for a revelation of the principals that this nation was founded on
Lifting up the leading ranks
Strengthen their spirits
More joining the ranks!
Great advancement of and by Your Spirit
Father, we lift up the proceedings
There must be a cleaving to You and Your Word!
Seeing great gains in the spirit!
That shall remain secure by the blood!
We rest and stand on the promise of Your Word!
Our eyes are lifted upon You!
There is strength and endurance in the joy of the Lord!
Press ahead that the vision and purpose of the Church might be fulfilled!
We are strengthened in the Lord and in the power of His might!
Now is the time to be in joy and press through those doors
We are to increase and not decrease!
Rise up and stand up in Him!
Clean up and clear out the path you are to walk on
As you watch and pray, you will see new things
Lord, we welcome Your presence among our lives to continually guide and lead us
We want Your will and purpose in our lives, families, and churches
Lord, we pray the blood of Jesus over the spiritual leaders
That they are whole and healthy, knowing what to do and where to go
We thank You for this day and declare it to be blessed!
You get all the glory and honor!
