Prayer Summary for January 20

Prayed…

We love and honor You, Lord, and welcome Your presence

Scripture focus…

(1) It is a good and delightful thing to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises [with musical accompaniment] to Your name, O Most High, (2) To show forth Your loving-kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night, (3) With an instrument of ten strings and with the lute, with a solemn sound upon the lyre. (4) For You, O Lord, have made me glad by Your works; at the deeds of Your hands I joyfully sing. (5) How great are Your doings, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep. (6) A man in his rude and uncultivated state knows not, neither does a [self-confident] fool understand this: (7) That though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to be destroyed forever. (8) But You, Lord, are on high forever. For behold, Your adversaries, O Lord, for behold, Your enemies shall perish; all the evildoers shall be scattered. (10) But my horn (emblem of excessive strength and stately grace) You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil. (11) My eye looks upon those who lie in wait for me; my ears hear the evildoers that rise up against me. (12) The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible]. (13) Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God. (14) [Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment]. (15) [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. Psalm 92:1–15 (Amp.)

The following excerpt was taken from A Fresh Anointing by Kenneth E. Hagin:

Praising the Lord

I will praise the Lord at all times; I am not moved by what I see. When the way seems dark, when there seems no way, I stand my ground and praise Him; because He seeth the way that I go and I walk in His path and I’ll do that which is pleasing in His sight.

And the storms of life may come, and the thunder may roll and the lightning may flash, but as I walk, I know that victory is mine at last! Because, you see, He came from heaven long ago, and He is the Champion sent by the Father God to the earth below, and He elevates mankind into the place where they know their place in Him! Know the reality of His blessings and truth. And so the enemy cannot gainsay them. And they’ll praise God day and night.

Victory

Victory is not in places or things. Victory is not in what I can see or feel. Victory is in Him—Christ the Champion from heaven. He came from the bosom of the Father to the earth, and took my place and became my substitute. And defeated the enemy in his own domain. Jesus arose victorious with the keys of heaven and the keys of hell and death, and invited all to come and go with Him to heaven.

I just read this from Brother Kenneth Hagin about how praise will still the enemy. He said there was this student in Bible school and on his times off he would travel itinerant to raise money for the next year. He was on a bus traveling back to his school and the bus was filled, standing room only. The whole bus was full and he was in the back. He had to connect to another bus. Brother Hagin was talking about being filled continually and the anointing that is in us and when we are overflowing we will say things, things will just seep out. This younger man could see ahead the next bus that he was supposed to get on. They were driving down the street and he could see in the distance the bus and they were loading it up. He needed to get in there only he was in the back of the other bus. Without even thinking he said “Praise the Lord, thank God I am saved!” He just said it and everyone on the bus shut up, moved aside and he walked out. He said “Well, might as well go all the way.” As he was about to exit his bus he shouted again, “Praise God, Hallelujah, thank God I am saved!” He got off the bus and on the next bus and made it on time. And his point was, today in the world we live in, praising Him stills the enemy.

He gave one other example with John Osteen. Of course, Joel Osteen’s father who started the church in Texas. He was having some meetings and Brother Kenneth was there as part of the meetings. There was a lunch that Pastor Osteen asked Brother Hagin to go with him. On the way he said he wanted to stop in at a certain car dealer. There was a car that he really wanted to get.

John Osteen was not a tall man but he was a powerful man in the Spirit. They go in to the dealership and there is another manager there. John pulls out this card who another salesman had written out a price for that particular auto. When the salesperson saw what the price was, he said there is no way that you’re getting this. I don’t know who wrote this out. You are not getting this car and then he started to swear. He was cursing and going ballistic and he was a tall man. John Osteen got right in his face and said, “Praise God, Hallelujah, praise God! I lift You up and magnify You” right in the man’s face. Suddenly he shut up, calmed down and became extremely religious. He just turned from profanity… but John Osteen said, “Well, if you’re going to speak like that, I am going to lift Him up as much as you take Him down, curse Him, use His name in the wrong way, I am going to praise Him and lift Him up.” Like I said the man became very, very religious, shut up and agreed to that price for that car. So he got the car. He wouldn’t have gotten the car if he hadn’t lifted up his voice in a bold way and praised the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Praise will still the enemy.

This morning on the Believer’s Voice of Victory George Pearson read Psalms 109:17,”As he loved cursing, let him wear it as a garment.” It was all about the words of our mouth. Cursing goes down into you and becomes like water. It waters what’s inside you and brings the curse forth. But then I saw the flip side of that. When John Osteen heard that guy cursing, he got in his face and started praising God. I saw that praising God goes inside you and it waters you on the inside and then you wear it like a garment, the garment of praise.
