Prayer Summary for January 17

Scripture Focus…

Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is. (18) And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. (19) Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord.
(Ephesians 5:17–19 TPT)

Be devoted to tenderly loving your fellow believers as members of one family. Try to outdo yourselves in respect and honor of one another. (11) Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him.
(Romans 12:10–11 TPT)

Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor; (11) never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord.
(Romans 12:10–11 AMP)

However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. (13) But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future].
(John 16:7, 13 AMPC)

But here’s the truth: It’s to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away the Divine Encourager will not be released to you. But after I depart, I will send him to you. (12) “There is so much more I would like to say to you, but it’s more than you can grasp at this moment. (13) But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak on his own, but only what he hears from the Father, and he will reveal prophetically to you what is to come.
(John 16:7, 12–13 TPT)

The church went into a season of intense intercession, asking God to free him. (6) The night before Herod planned to bring him to trial, he made sure that Peter was securely bound with two chains. Peter was sound asleep between two soldiers, with additional guards stationed outside his cell door,  (7) when all at once an angel of the Lord appeared, filling his prison cell with a brilliant light. The angel struck Peter on the side to awaken him and said, “Hurry up! Let’s go!” Instantly the chains fell off his wrists. (8) The angel told him, “Get dressed. Put on your sandals, bring your cloak, and follow me.”
(Acts 12:5–8 TPT)

Shared…

“When asked on one occasion, how many hours a day she spent in prayer, I heard Kathryn reply, “I pray all the time, because if I limited the Holy Spirit to a certain number of hours a day, I would be in danger of using Him for my own purpose. If, for instance, I spent on hours a day in prayer, I would expect the Holy Spirit to reward me for that hour. I would begin to feel that it was that hour in prayer that caused the “anointing” in the meeting. No, I cannot use the Holy Spirit in that way. I must practice His presence all of the time.”

It was not uncommon for Kathryn to walk and pray and hold intermittent conversations all within a few minutes. I came to recognize that Kathryn’s life was one of 24-hour-a-day relationship with Jesus. She had no success formulas, no methods or techniques; she just walked, talked, and lived as a powerful woman in the service of her God.”
