Prayer Summary for Friday, March 10, 2017

Dave shared…

Life should be enjoyed. The Bible says He came to give life. Not just to live but to have an above and beyond life, a life that’s worth living. I know about living life a little bit. I’d rather live life excited, with joy, looking with anticipation of something great happening. There’s nothing like watching and anticipating something positive happening. It allows you to drop the cares of life for a moment’s time. When you’re watching your football team destroy the other team, you’re not thinking about all your problems. You’re not thinking about all the things you have to do on Monday morning. You’re not thinking about anything but what you’re experiencing at the time.

That’s what the Holy Ghost does. His job is to get you thinking not on those bad thing but to think on things that are just, pure, praise worthy, if there be any virtue… His job is to get you to “happy.” It is something that we have a choice to do and we make that choice on a regular basis. As a believer, I have learned many things since I became a Christian at 11 years old, gone to Bible school and done all kinds of things. And it never changes, meaning that there will always be opportunities for you to be down. Always. That does not change. I don’t care how spiritual you are. You are not immune to having down days or challenges in your life. They come. But how they affect you, that’s what makes the difference.

You can either just glide through them or you can drag your feet through them. How many know this, that when you’re in pain, it seems like it lasts forever. If you have a pain in your body, it seems like for that moment in time, time slows down. It seems like, “If I could just get through this moment in time.” But when you’re having fun, it seems like time speeds up. It’s merely an illusion. It’s all smoke and mirrors. The key is to not let the time during the cycle of pain slow down. You have control whether it speeds up or slows down. So if you trip and fall and hurt your knee, let’s stay in that situation for a microsecond, for a jiffy.

I learned what jiffy is the other day. Anybody know what jiffy is? Jiffy is a measurement of time. Jiffy is the amount of time… if you can imagine a particle which is not like an atom. It’s not an atom. An atom is big. A particle is inside an atom. A particle is part of an atom and what it takes a particle to travel, the size of a particle, at the speed of light is a jiffy. That’s superfast. That’s about how much time God wants you to spend on the negative things. The fastest moment in time is how He wants it to speed up in life’s challenges. Then He wants your time of joy and victory and anticipation of great things to slow down, so that you’re enjoying your time on this planet and not suffering all the time.

We don’t have to suffer because Jesus suffered on the cross. The Bible tells us that He bore our sicknesses and He carried our diseases. He suffered so that we don’t have to suffer. So if you meditate on that idea, then you know it’s God’s will for you to have a good life, that you have life abundantly. That’s what the Bible says. He came that you might have life and life more abundantly.

Anticipation. When you were a little kid at Christmas time is a perfect example of anticipation. You couldn’t even go to sleep the night before. Every year, our kids asked us the same thing: “Can we open our presents at night?” They can’t go to sleep. They think they’re going to miss out cuz somehow that sleep is going to take away from them. They’re so excited! They’re anticipating. That is the picture of how God wants us to live life like.

But here’s the good news. You don’t have to do that alone. In other words, He’s not putting that mandate on you. “Okay now, you just be happy right now. Get happy! Be happy!” What He’s saying is just take the hand of the Holy Ghost. He’s going to take you to that place where you’re happy all the time. And by the way, don’t let go of His hand. It’s when we let go that we fall into that place where everything slows down. So when you’re focusing on the right thing, things get much better and quicker.

Now I said all that to say this. We do have a part to play in that but it’s not as big a part for those of you who are, “Well, do I have to do this?” Look, I’m like you. I don’t like taking the garbage out, doing chores like laundry. This isn’t like doing the chores. The reason why it’s not like chores is because you don’t do the work! He does the work. All you have to do is agree. That’s like having the Holy Ghost show up to your house and He says “We’re going to do the laundry today.” Then He says, “You just sit in that chair and watch me do it.”

Jerre shared…

This goes along with what you’re saying. One time I was in a bad way, not happy. I had a ton of laundry to do and I was expected to be here and here and here and here. So I’m folding the laundry and I remember folding a washcloth… like this. And the Holy Ghost said, “Is that the kind of anointing you want to put in that cloth?” I went, “Lord, forgive me.” I changed my attitude fast.

Dave continued…

Yes, life is about attitudes. It really is. It’s about the way you go through this experience. It’s like having a kid and you go to the amusement park. All kids like amusement parks. You get there and they’re excited about going, but one of the kids wanted to go to a different place and every ride he gets on he’s like this, “I’m not having fun. I’m not going to have fun.” That is what it’s like when you don’t get excited about how good He is and how amazingly He’s provided for us. That’s what it’s like. It’s like you’re on an exciting ride and you’re just not going to have fun. You just need to relax and let go. Enjoy the ride. You don’t have to promote the ride. You don’t have to make the ride go. All you have to do is just let go and enjoy the ride. That’s what life is like with the Holy Ghost. Just enjoy it.

Everybody’s got challenges in life. I don’t care who you are or how much money you have or what you do in life, it really is not relevant. Everybody is going to have challenges. They’re just different challenges. And your challenges are no different than anybody else’s. There is nothing facing you that God doesn’t have any clue about.

I said that to say this. It’s our responsibility to get in agreement. And that’s it. The Holy Spirit’s job is to do the work. He just has to tell you something to get you excited. And He will do that. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in my office thinking about all these things I have to think about and then He just says something to me and like He’ll say something, “Okay get up and go do something else.” Even though I’ve got a deadline. Well, I’m going to listen to Him. It goes a lot better if I listen to Him. I’ve learned that.

I’ll give you one testimony. Several years ago, I was working for a military company, Department of Defense company. They were having a problem building something, and they couldn’t figure it out and it was one of these things that they had spent millions, probably billions, trying to figure it out. They couldn’t figure it out. The organization had this big contract, and they were contracted to figure this thing out. There must have been 50 engineers working on this project. I’m just one and I’m younger. I’m like a young engineer, just barely in the field for maybe five years. All these guys are trying to figure out this thing, and if we don’t figure it out by the end of the month (and it was already in the middle of the month), then we’d lose the contract. And it’s a big deal. People lose their jobs.

So nobody could figure it out. So I’m in this meeting and there’s all these people sitting around this table and they’re talking about all the challenges and difficulties and why you can’t… and why you can’t… and why you can’t. “You can’t do it that way because of this.” Etc. “That’s like trying to get 20 pounds of sand in a five-pound bag. It’s physically impossible.” That’s all you heard at this meeting, back and forth. The whole meeting was about what you couldn’t do.

After the meeting, we all went to our offices and I went up to my manager and said, “I know this sounds crazy, but I have this idea.” I told him about this idea. “Why can’t we do this?” He started laughing. He laughed because, number one, I was young. “What do you know? You don’t know anything.” That’s what his laughter was about. I didn’t care. I was young. So after meeting with him, I went to one of the other engineers and said, “Am I missing something? What was it that I said that was funny? Why can’t we do it this way?” He thought about it and said, “Well, let me think about it for a little bit.”

The Holy Ghost told me to get up from my chair, not get offended by this, but go pray in the Holy Ghost. So I got up from my chair and walked out of the office and started praying in the Holy Ghost. About a half hour later, I came back and sat down. More of the idea started coming. I was like, “Well, I can’t let this go because if the Holy Ghost is telling me this, I got to do it but everybody is against me.” The net result was the second guy that I talked to said, “That might work, but…” then he said this, this, and this. “Yeah, I know but…” Then I told him “If we did this, this might work.” Well the problem was solved that day in a matter of 30 minutes.

I said that because everybody was thinking that it couldn’t be done. They couldn’t think of the possibilities. All they thought were the impossibilities. And in life that’s all what it’s about. If you think it can’t be done, then you’re right.

I heard something the other day about developing a technology that the government currently possesses. It has to do with the military. They were having an issue and they couldn’t figure it out. So they hired a bunch of engineers, scientists that were supposed to be the best minds in the U.S. They took them in a room and told them, “We’re going to show you a video.” All the engineers watched the video. This guy has this device and he steps on this device and takes off, like magic. He’s in something like a football arena and he’s flying around. He lands but he crashes and the film ends. The guy says, “This guy is Bill so and so and he developed this technology. The only problem is, he crashed and died. He didn’t tell us how he did it. But you know it can be done because you just saw it. What we’re hiring you for is to figure out how to do it. We looked at his notes and we can’t figure it out.”

So they went on. It took about a year until somebody figured out how to do it. They called the guy who figured out how to do it, and said, “The video was a fake. We did that because we knew that you and your abilities thought you couldn’t do it, but if you saw that it could be done, then you would drop the limitations and you would be able to do it.”

That’s what living with the Holy Ghost is like. He shows you the impossibilities and all you have to do is believe it and act like it’s so. The problem is we constantly focus on the things that we can’t do or our inabilities. Because we spend too much time thinking about our inabilities, we’re incapable of doing the impossible. God wants us to live in the place where impossibilities are possible, the places that will change your life and everybody around you. That place of the miraculous… how many want to live there? I want to have a testimony of something that was impossible. Something that will cause them to think, “If you could do it and I know you, then I could do it too.”

Because of what I do for a living, people ask me, “How do you come up with the ideas to do what you do?” Well, one of the keys to come up with ideas that nobody else can do is never thinking that you can’t do it. That’s the number one prerequisite. You never look in the mirror at yourself for the answer, because you’re incapable of doing that. But if you know the Holy Spirit, He’s capable of doing all things. The Bible says that all things are possible for Him that believes.

And what does this have to do with prayer?

Remember the example of praying in the Holy Ghost I gave you earlier? Everybody was saying it was impossible and I guarantee that it would have continued to be impossible had somebody not said, “I don’t accept the impossible. I accept the possible.” When it comes to healing, provision… hey, you know what? There’s nothing impossible. Nothing! If God has to change things, He could change things that you think can’t be changed. Because you just don’t know. Right? That should give you some hope, right? What I just said to you should get you like, “Well, then it can be possible. Maybe it is possible.” Yeah, it is! And I’m here to tell you this is the training ground, prayer is the training ground to live in the impossibility. Because when you hook up with and pray in the Holy Ghost, what that does to you is the Holy Spirit’s job is to show you things to come. The Bible says that He speaks not of Himself but what He hears from heaven. He shows you things to come. I’ve seen this happen many, many, many times. This isn’t something that somebody wrote and it’s like a fairy tale. This is actually real. And every one of us has the possibility to live in the realm of miracles. We just got to believe.

Believe.

Prayed…

In the name of Jesus, we receive that fullness of grace… it’s inside of us right now…
It is complete, not broken
Father, we thank You for the completed work
You who began a good work in us are able to complete it
That work is closed and finished… it’s already done
We receive an abundance of grace, that Your power in us is able to complete our faith
We thank You for the completed work
Thank You for helping us
Father, we thank You for all those needs in the body at Living Word and across the nation
All those needs are met
There is no limit in You
